I'm actually impressed that Heaven's Palm is now a reasonably functional part of the willbender skillset.  It still has a long cast time that interrupts the rapid attack flow, but it's now much easier to pull off somehow.  That's good, as willbender is a bit light on cc.

The problem with Heavens palm is that it totally misses on enemies that are walking away from you even without swiftness/superspeed. Its TERRIBLE in its current state.

TBH this beta has been REALLY disappointing for me having attempted tonnes of duels in the usual WvW spot, I was really hoping Willbender would get some chunky improvements but its barely feel much different from before, still has a useless elite skill, still has awful sustain,. F1 and Sword 4 are still terribly awful, you still cant lock people down and you have arguably the worst heal skill in the game that certainly doesnt reverse the fortune of interrupts.

If Willbender doesnt get significant improvements and DH continues to be the only (barely)viable form of power guardian out there where you still need to outplay your enemies like crazy to win while they just spam skills in your face.

Give more damage, give FASTER if not IMMEDIATE animations on the skills and stop kittening around and making this class feel like kitten to play. People told you what to fix but you left it almost the same as before. Get someone who knows how to play the game and especially pvp players to give you proper feedback and instructions here before you release to next beta cos it feels like none of the devs are good enough or experienced enough in PvP to develop PvP classes which WB is CLEARLY meant to be but utterly fails at!

  2. Virtues - half the core traits don't work anymore. The virtue actives are clunky. F3 can be modified with the stability trait but guess what the stab doesn't proc until after the animation is cancelled so it no longer works as a proper stun break+stab combo.

F1 is grossly slow with no damage either, F2 is ok imo and F3 needs insta cast this windup is a joke against competent opponents.

Sword 4 feels beyond terrible, it's impossible to land. Sword 5 is good. Both need more damage, Willbender needs to act as a real damage threat to tanks but right now it's just not really the case.

Skills - heal skill is weird, idk about this one. Something feels off, but the worst thing is that u want to tank a hit when using it to get the max heal BUT you can't tank any kind of CC or condi cos it seemingly only negates strike damage, the CC application or condi will go through. shelter is a bad enough heal skill but this is like taking the worst aspects of shelter without the positive.

Rolling light - dodge is too slow, the re-engage is too clunky

Flash combo - zero damage, can be facetanked with ease, and it self roots. Please remove any and all self rooting skills they suck so bad to play that it makes me feel like the designers have never even played PVP before. Having to land all hits just to repose is absurd given the multi hit nature and the selfroot. Why is this just a far worse Revenant skill?

Heel crack - it's a stun. It's probably not worth taking most of the time as an entire utility slot cos the damage is whack. Again.

Whirly spin to win - this is sort of ok cos the ratios are not terrible and it's quite easy to land the weakness debuff which makes duelling easier. But it's still not enough damage.

Elite - useless. Once again the lack of any kind of sustain on the ult means that renewed focus is still the sole remaining option for guard in PvP. Idk how this has become acceptable over the years but whatever it's alway been a class that relies on stupid cheese to succeed where other classes can just facetank everything like pepegas and run 8 different invulnerability skills.

I feel like the traitlines are quite meh actually and most of them don't offer a different feel or really any solid advantages. In fact I feel there is too much "take this but this other thing suffers" like no other class has to deal with this bs

So far it just feels like a much worse power rev. It's more fun than any other power guard spec but that's cos power guard is just awful in general.

Anet you must realise the vision of a ultr low HP heavy armor active defense based class is just futile in melee in agame with so much multihit spam and AoE / pbAoE damage

I really think it needs buffs in almost every weapon skill, utility AND trait.

YES, THIS SO MUCH! In fact, you can add the flame effect to the cross-slash and buff it far more, and then let the player decide if they'd want to trait for power or condi.

This is what I mean with adding changes that let Willbender still be Willbender, but maintain more of the "Guardian" identity. Guardian is naturally more defensive than Warrior, and I think having a greater focus on a "Samurai"-style identity (instead of trying to make it a mash-up of 3 different things that don't naturally gel well together gameplay-wise) and having its selfish attack power be the result of patient gameplay and parrying, rather than just "if the first attack hits and does damage anyway, then the second part triggers".

This will certainly make it feel more "Guardian-like" in terms of its gameplay.

I similarly think we can get rid of the 5 skill with the shadow step, because Sword 2 already functions as a teleport, so it feels really redundant and unrewarding (and it gets a dash as well for no apparent reason, since it's going to teleport anyway). We can replace that with another sword reflect skill, like it blocks and reflects incoming projectiles with it or whathaveyou lightsaber-style. Then it can at least still do damage, while also still feeling more in line with what a "Guardian" should feel like, instead of stepping on Thief's toes.

This would help make it feel like a Canthan take on the Guardian, instead of just tacking on a bunch of extra stuff that doesn't feel like it belongs, competes with all the other stuff and ultimately compromises the class's identity.

Sword 5 is the only good thing about Willbender so far practically everything else underperforms imo

Superspeed stealth of course is a strong mechanic and it seems odd that something so powerful would be based in rune choice rather than class and spec choice.

Quite frankly playing anything other than condi DPS or a variant of condi DPS on guardian is straight up trolling. Guardian has always suffered more than any other class a severe lack of mobility and a total inability to kite away from chasing players.

Delusional guard mains you love to see it. Yes Healbreaker is better than core support guardian, but playing core sup guardian is not trolling it won NA mAT vs a healbreaker. And healbreaker is likely to get nerfed and hello second best support in the game core guaridan. You can play core power dps or sagebrand in ranked at any level and its completely fine. Aeon played core bunker to sidenode in one of the serious AT games. But yes keep telling yourself guardian is in a bad state and that burn dh is just a cheese build. Trolling means you are playing things like staff ele or heal chronomancer.

If you don't like identity of guardian which is being slow and not having ability to kite outside of jumping puzzles but have good damage and many boons then I don't understand why you are playing this class? It is a class made for beginners where you are strong without making mechanically demanding plays. Instead of using your weapon skill to evade enemy attack you just block it with aegis. I'm not saying it doesn't take skill to play guardian well but its mostly your positioning, big brain plays instead of mechanically play.

There is also no way support guardian is better than any support class that can actually bring multiple forms of cc\stun. Support guard is not better than support ele.

Do you really think playing guardian solo queue is the same as playing in an organised team in AT?

Tell you what, why don't you go player power guardian or support core or whatever else build you think is good and show me when you get to platinum on it. Because at this point I am comparing my personal extensive experience with your tertiary anecdotal evidence and I know what I trust more, especially considering I can fairly consistently make mid plat if I try hard in solo q.

Even worse you don't address any of my suggestions about nerfing permeating and removing the ridiculously OP maw>sword 2 combo that currently defines burn guard.

Nothing delusional, no need to be hostile mate. Chill out. Learn to communicate without being a douche, trust me it will pay off in real life too.

  5. I actually agree that trapper rune stealth should be removed, because I think it will help expose just how bad a state guardian is actually in now

Support is slow, telegraphed, easy to read and extremely clunky in PvP (seriously axe autos are terrible in PvP and guard slow speed in general makes melee autos basically impossible to land on good players) and power is even more telegraphed and easy to avoid.

Here's the 3 main issues with cond right now, and more specifically Dragon Hunter condi.

    1. Permeating wrath is obnoxiously strong in teamfights. This skill has been overperforming for so long. For those that don't know, permeating wrath increases the rate at which you activate burning passive by 40%, then applies it in AoE for good measure. This needs a nerf from 3 hits to 4

    2. Dragonhunter has a skill that refreshes passive on block. Dragonhunter can block, a lot. F3 can give several seconds of frontal block. If the DH is blocking stuff and spamming scepter 1 or even manages to land a symbol whilst blocking a multihit burst, it can refresh the passive multiple times per second in ideal circumstances. If this situation involves you walking into procession of bladestoo, chances are you are going to be suddenly hit with large numbers of burn stacks very quickly. There used to be builds that would burn enemies on block automatically, but this was considered so broken and strong that it was removed entirely. Why does an even more powerful, non cool down gated version exist on DragonHunter?

    3. Maw is a great skill. Maw that is somehow able to port with the player if he times sword 2 properly is a broken mess. Guard used to be able to do the awesome greatsword 3 into Judges intervention that was apparently considered so broken OP they decided to remove it from the game. Now we have something with a much stronger effect, and honestly this time the interaction really is stupidly broken.

I see cries for nerfs on traps, passive burning etc but the above issues are causing most problems for 9/10 complainees. These must be addressed if guardian can ever have some proper balance.

It's a shame I so rarely see these issues brought up and it strongly leads me to believe that a lot of complaints about a lot of classes come from a severe lack of understanding of strengths and weaknesses of classes, which is exacerbated by most players meta slaving rather than experimenting and really getting to grips with the classes they play.

Guard desperately needs better and faster animations for tomes, and more importantly guard needs some kiting options that exist outside of DH F2. It just sucks to play now when one of your most effective builds is a cheesy meme that makes forumers cry way too much (and who don't understand the root of the problems)

@Cynz.9437 said:Yeah i miss pre-HoT runs. Fractals actually were fun imo, you could run builds based on encounter and not what snowcrows posted on golem benchmark and every sheep demands from you.

Did you really play during those times? It was meta or gtfo. Except for necros. It was just gtfo for them. Everyone used berserker aswell or it was a kick. There was 0 experimenting in pugs past a certain level. What you did do was running builds based on encounter but you should still do that now. Its just that hfb outheals everything currently so you dont need the builds anymore unless you play without a healer. Guards who didnt use wor were kicked back then. Most guards now dont even know what the skill does or which bosses have reflectable attacks.

"When I was leveling my Engineer on my alt account and did Mai Trin in a T2 group I was cleansing conditions like a madman with Healing Turret & Elixir Gun" back then this approach just wouldnt have worked. The damage was way too high. Its currently still not a great strategy to use more than healing turret as dps there. You are not supposed to get hit and loaded with condis in the first place. The hfb turned fractals into classic trinity facetank mode just without the tank mechanics.

Yes, i did play. I meant i actually liked that you didn't need to have actual support to finish encounter. And i mean your average group. And no, it wasn't meta or gtfo. Yes, it wasn't so great for necro but i overall i don't recall such class (and especially spec) gating back then as it is now (and yes, i am fully aware of AP requirements bs that been going on back then).

People used to ask for a full gear ping and if you weren't running full zerk you weren't joining the group.

  7. I can't believe this still isn't fixed. This isn't just snowflakes, it's ALL harvesting sickles that give bonus rewards.

This is obviously such a simple thing, why has it been left unadresssed for over a month?

What is the point of this forum if obvious and simple bugs like this that are highlighted are not dealt with? This bug has existed since about a month before Wintersday started, was mentioned then, and continued to be present after Wintersday started where the broken frostbitten sickle was also added. Since then there have been several more posts about this on this forum and on Reddit....

Zero response, and more than likely we will still continue to be allowed to purchase broken sickles that don't work for a long time until it is fixed (if ever)

Are Anet resources so stretched and staff so overworked or mismanaged that you can't afford to have one person spend what is probably no more than an hour to fix this problem affecting every single player that buys these karma-tools?

Although Chyanne could state things better, she has a point. If this was an issue at Arenanet, this forum would be filled with complaints about the PoF maps. There are some, but it is marginal and always pinpointed at other issues.

So it does seem that there is a technical issue at your end.A few questions:Do you only have this on the 6 PoF maps? or also on the newer living world maps like dragons end?Do you also have some lag on older maps?

What are you actually experiencing? e.g.
    • You press a skill and it takes a few seconds before my character starts casting. You see people glitchning around youThis has most likely to do with your internetconnection
    • You see issues with rendering things around you and the quality is very poorThis has most likely to do with your computer. It helps if you state all your specs here.

We are here to help, so please help us in helping you!

Excuse me but OP has the same problem that many many EU players are facing all the time

It is not a player side issue, it is something Anet needs to fix and has not done for over 6 months.

Can we please stop confusing these threads and trying to blame the thread creators for Anets problem?

A lot of classes cc are poor and are on massive cooldowns or are just rinsed off in seconds..

Did you watch the video Shikaru.7618 linked?even missed 1 of the cc breaks and was not insta killed at all, just had to turn and press w to stay away from boss

I never said a veteran can't pass it, i even passed it, i was explaining what it does and why its annoying. aren't you a raider anyway?

Weird that you feel that way, I usually favor my spellbreaker for bounties and dailies.. I agree that some bosses are not melee friendly.

Warrior really needs better ranged options..

Yes I heal in raids what do that got to do with eater of souls fight?

Raiders are far and above the general population of casual gamers, so a boss like that is run of the mill to you, to someone like me a person who doesn't raid ever its very hard, annoyingly so.I just did this the other day and i still died three times before i realized what i had to do.. Its why this thread spoke to me as such. It tethers you drags you in damaging you the whole time then insta kills you before you can even think i need to CC this twerp.. then its downed and dead..As i said its not fun for many.

I'm sorry but if you think having to attempt a boss 3 times is too much then that's just your opinion. Most people enjoy a small challenge

just my noob after many years but still playing opinion

Harder bosses are fun, I'm sorry that you don't enjoy it

  11. @sorudo.9054 said:it doesn't actually needs to be banned, the game needs to be made so DPs isn't the most important part of the game.the original GW has none of this, no need to DPs everything when a boss can whipe a party in one hit, that's when a well established team is crusual.

I don't understand this part - a coordinated team that has all the required healing and boons is very crucial to current end game content, so what do you mean? Taking away the DPS requirements would simply mean people can double down on the less demanding aspects such as not dodging and instead just overheal everything and over-boon everything... it means they are punished less for mistakes....I think I need elaboration on your point. Team-Wipes are common place as this game has a huge number (even in open world) of heavy damage sources that can one shot players....this is prolific in raid content as well....so what do you mean?

It works in ranked, even against good players to a degree. The problem is it's useless in any AT or mAT.

It's literally just a mobility issue, Guardian is not tanky like Necro and can't run away like Holo/Ranger/Thief. Dragon Hunter is mobile but kinda bad. Guardian as awhole has just never been ideal in organised 5v5. @ollbirtan.2915 said:

Hitting multiple players with multiple hits of the sword results in just insane aoe burning damage. It might be the strongest res punisher in the game

I haven't seen anyone above g2 run SOJ. It's only semi viable in WvW zergs, not in sPvP. It's clunky, has an awkward aftercast, and it's suuuuuuper easy to avoid/....by paying minimal attention to your surroundings. If I were to take a spirit weapon, I'd rather take the Shield of the Avenger - less 'potential' damage, but super easy to land, and as a bonus it applies weakness.
P.S. After all the complains on the forums about so called "OP" res skills/traits. I'm surprised to see calls to, apparently, 'the best res punisher'.

I'm using it in plat to great success. It's a hard skill to use, however you can land soj on anyone that does not cleanse scepter 3, you can force decap extremely easily with it, you cleave like a madman with it. Guardian utility skills suck anyway and with a damage build you may as well take more damage.

These are just my experiences from playing with it in ranked, it has been extremely successful so far, and the build is blatantly carrying me above my skill level. I guess this is what necro feels like.

I agree that under certain conditions SOJ can literally wipe the enemy team...but from my experience, even if you successfully wipe / decap the node with SOJ, a somewhat organised team would then regroup and you will become the first target for hard focus. Given the fact that you must pretty much sacrifice your defence utilities / traits to achieve high damage with SOJ, you have very little chance of survival under the enemy team's hard focus.P.S. This is ofcourse, my personal experience with SOJ.

All guardian builds have extremely difficult time with hard focus, and it has nothing to do with sword of justice. Core/FB are terrible under heavy pressure, because they have no mobility (unless taking Greatsword, but then you auto-lose the game beyond mid gold because heavy melee is terrible in pvp)
