I appreciate you bringing this up. We looked into it, and there was an internal mixup that led to inaccurate information being published in the blog post from June. It is intended that the Rift Hunter's armor, like the Astral Ward armor, looks the same across all weights. The blog has been updated in English (with other languages to follow), including a note about the update, to avoid confusion. Our apologies for the miscommunication, and thank you again for bringing it up.

While I feel this makes the endgame a lot less engaging in a game that is all about fashion, I appreciate the answer and the transparency. Thank you.

The first, the Astral Ward armor, is thematically tied to the story of Guild Wars 2: Secrets of the Obscure and shares the same appearance for all three armor weights. The second set, Rift Hunter’s armor, has unique looks for each weight.

Unless the wardrobe storage is bugged, that was a straight up lie, because all the armor weighs look the same. What a disappointment. https://imgur.com/a/SdHSsd7

  3. Why does it have to be released?

    Why?

Everyone told you what is wrong with the balance patch, why not postpone the release and do it right?

This wall of text, this worths nothing. You leading us towards the latrine pit, everyone shouting at you not do it. You turn back to us, saying "oh, dangit, you are right" and you still pull us all into the waste without giving us any good reason. Congratulations, top level leadership and directing.

  4. Dear sweet Arenanet,

The expansion is out for a month now. It was evident from the first week that the Jade Maw has some serious issues with the scaling yet no one did anything to it. It is still impossible to beat it after more than 10-15 people showing up. Completing the even is required for a lot of collections, including the turtle mount as well. I'm sure you cannot fix this event by just tweaking numbers, because in that cause, you'd have already did it. So here a big brain suggestion for a temporary solution: turn off the timer. It's absurd that people keep telling to others to don't come or stay away from the event because that will make it 100% sure to fail.

At this point, I have more succesful clears on the Dragon's End metaevent than on the god kitten Jade Maw. Getting the turtle egg from there was EASIER that clearing this overtuned crap. Unless there is some 5D chess brain game design plan behing this that the avarage player cannot understand, please fix the scaling or turn off the timer.

I'm 100% sure this issue was brough up in other topics, but I don't really care, maybe one developer will notice it if it keeps popping up.

    Cheers.

  5. Hard agree on this. I would say I'd be okay to play throught the story 8 more times if I can skip the dialog but I can't and many story instances are nothing more than dialog. Anet needs to realized that their writer team is not G. R. R. Martin or CD Project Red. I saw the story once - there are no choices, no different paths, no changes based on class or race. This is my personal preference, but 80% of it is dialog gives me brain tumor of how juvenile it is. There is nothing that would remotely justify to play thought this badly paced mess more than a single time.

Unlock the story achievement on every collection after we completed it once and it will be totally okay.

  6. Hi everyone!

I making this post to spare others from the hours of confusion and uncertainty that I went through yesterday. If you working on the collection to get the hammer, you'll eventually need a Catalyst's Trinket. The collection says: "Earned by defeating Aetherblade Strikers at the Echovald Wilds"

So here's the thing: as far as I know, there are NO Aetherblade Strikers anywhere in Echovald. Aetherblades spawn in the Aetheblade Hideout. After spending 1 hour there, I saw every possible variations of Aetheblades, EXCEPT not a SINGLE striker spawned. I decided to go to the Not So Hidden jumping puzzle where Strikers do spawn rarely, but I didn't get the trinket there. After that, I went back to the first map to the ship crashsite, but I haven't see strikers spawning there either. As a final despreation, I went back to the hideout in Echovald and just started killing mobs there. After another hour, a trinket finally dropped from a swashbuckler.

So if you are not as lucky as my friend who got the trinket randomly: go to the Aetherblade Hideout and one of the other type of mobs will eventually drop it, but don't waste your time looking for what the collection says, because there are no strikers in the open world of EoD - at least to my experience after spending 3 hours yesteday with this.

  7. I sadly need to agree with this. I already went through the 5 phases of grief with this expansion. As of yesterday, I witnessed how poorly the endgame content is done, I can say with 100% certainty that Arenanet literally forgot everything they learned in the past 9 years.

This is totally down to personal taste, but the maps are a visual mess. Some less, like Echovald, but the worse offender of this is indeed New Kaening. This green srceen colored jadetech is probably the biggest artistic mistake that I saw from a studio like Arenanet, where top grade artists work. They forced this hars neon-green color into everything and it do not works. Also this is the first time where I decided to turn off post-processing, so the colors are not all burned out.

My other big gripe lies with the metas and strike missions. The metas are hard and unrewarding, they will be all dead content in a few months, like Serpent's Ire. The fact that MightyTeapot needed to make a guide video for Dragon's End meta speaks the level of misguided intention what the devs had for that map. The level of organization that is required there is only acceptable in a raid, strike or fractal, but not in an open world map where you get two blues and a green as a reward. After the amazing metas that we got in Drizzlewood and Bjora Marches, this is truly pathethic, like two totally different dev teams worked on these who had 0 communication with each other.

The Aetherblade strike mission have one-mistake and you are dead (not downed) mechanics, which I think is unaccapatable on normal mode. Even the hardest strike mission in the IBS only downed you when you made a mistake, but not outright removed you from the game. After that, I had no desire to try any other strike missions and it will remain like that.

The only thing I'm happy with is how they closed the story. There were missteps on the way, but the ending satisfied me. I finished the story and after I get the hammer for my Catalyst and I have no desire to play on the new maps. I'll just go back to Drizzlewood, Bjora Marches and HoT, where my time investment is rewarded.

  8. I gave up on hoping the matchmaking will become any better after 18 seasons, but if there is something that might improve things just a little is putting a concede button into pvp. Why you ask? 70!% of my ranked matches in the middle of gold are either absolutely one-sided win or absolutely one-sided lost, like 500-30 or something like that. Most of the time, it's clear from the first fight that you going to win or lose and when get demolished by the enemy or you demolish them without a single res needed. Then you spend the next 13-15 minutes in a match that has no point to go on, the results are already decided. Instead of be able to give up, you are forced to sit through 10+ agonizing minutes instead of simply giving the match to the enemy team and move on to the next match where you might get better teammates.

Put a concede button in it please, Arenanet and don't waste time on matches that your system already decided before the match started. Like the kick system, if 3/5 people concede the match, it's over or whatever, but I got realy tired of sitting though these one-sided matches, either on the loosing or the winning side. It's. Not. Fun. And yeah, you can say maybe the matches are different in other tiers, but I'm not there, so I don't care.

@Bazs.1470 said:How did Anet fall this low? Paying for gampling, this is a joke. Why can't we just select the mount skin we want, like we do with the mini tickets (yeah, I get it, because stupid people will spend more money they get what they want). I hope this kitten will aliante enough people to change this crap or never do it again.

Question, do you call people who love trading card games stupid too for buying card packs with RNG?Like... RNG is all over this game, there are timegated skins locked behind RNG, lots of RNG stuff in gemstore, ecto gambling... why do people whine about this specific one when it's not even close to be the worst?

This sort of gambling has been around forever, there's nothing new.

My answer for this is simple: Guild Wars 2 is not a trading card game. The main problem is, if Anet see this works, then more will come: RNG outfits, RNG weapon skins etc. The future is really dark if this happens. And people can say "Oh, it's just cosmetics, don't buy it." Yeah, the problem is, after level 80, GW2 is largely about how your character looks, because there is no gear threadmill shit, thank to gods (yeah, there are raid and other stuff, but nobody can deny that getting skins is a huge part of endgame). I'll see how many people will white-knight this stupid idea when the outfits, glider skins and the other stuff will come only in RNG lootboxes. Also, the jackal mount costs more then PoF. I think this tells everything.
