  1. Calling all middle-aged, mature, and parent gamers, The Balvenie is starting anew!

Founded by me whilst drunk on my favourite whiskey, and shortly joined by a fellow friend and dad, we set out to gather players who understand the juggle of family, work, and leisure.

we offer a sanctuary for those seeking a haven of camaraderie, exploration, and growth without the grind or expectation that you need to be around every hour of every day. We don't really know what we're doing, we've never run a guild before - so why not fumble through the game with us!

Whether you're a returning veteran or a newcomer to Tyria, we aim to provide a warm, welcoming environment where you can embark on adventures at your own pace, engage in casual exploration, delve into fractals and raids without the pressure of hardcore progression, and unwind with like-minded individuals in friendly chat sessions. No judgment, no rush—just good company (we hope) and good times. So toss aside your worries, dust off your armour (or not, we won't judge), and join us for a journey through Tyria.

P.S - We don't strictly exclude anyone outside middle-aged, mature and parent gamers, but we know most people under 30 don't care about the complaints of bad backs, kids catching conjunctivitis at school and everything else in between.

honestly i only use scepter if i need to range something. I tried GS and liked it too. Im just too newb to theorycraft about it. Even with it being all power, the multiple hits on GS2 and GS4 makes a lot of procs of F1.

Maybe Viper isn't even the best gear, we still don't know. But it looks very promissing because its like the only Condi Class that can burst almost as quick as a power DPS one. Im happy with it

Out of interest are you able to share your build? I’ve just come back from core GW2 and a smattering of HoT and PoF. Used to simply playing with GS power DH, but no idea what weapon set suits WB best. I LOVE gs, my understanding is that WB is primarily s/x primary?

Holy cow. If you don't like it, don't fish! Why is this complicated? If you don't like it don't do it. I think it's awesome and I bought some bait and I did a fishing tournament with the skiff and it's a lot of fun. Do something else if you don't think it's worth your time.

A little brash - people want to like fishing and only a few are calling for it to be removed, and i also know some people do in it's current form which is why there are suggestions to improve it. I'll carry on fishing, but i think it can be improved.

Can you really say with your heart that you think the placing of the fishing bar is ideal as an example, and the implementation is flawless? I've tried numerous camera angles and in 90% of them i'm staring at the dirt. It detaches the experience away from fishing and becomes a 'stare at the moving bar' minigame.

Trueeee. Never played Ultima Online but i played World of wowcraft and the fishing there make me sleepy . I like gw2 make with the mini game thing just because it make you focus rather than waiting for splashing sound something like that

I was so looking forward to fishing coming from WoW, as i can just zone out, enjoy the music, scenery and focus on watching the water and hitting a key when needed. The whole purpose was to spend time in the game doing something that didn't require much attention or focus. There's plenty of other kitten you need to focus on in the game.

Here i'm doing the first part the same, then intensely staring at a bar trying to 'catch' it. It's a terrible take on Stardew valleys fishing approach.

My only change request would be if they at least made the slider appear over the bobber so i'm not staring at the bottom 20% of the screen for the entire time.

  5. Thanks for this everyone! This is an incredibly helpful set of information!

I've changed over to condi renegade again and spent more time re-reading the comments above and figuring out which skills trigger which boons and the effects and it's helped greatly!

I tend to start off combat by dropping icerazer and darkrazer then swapping to mallyx and going through 1-4 mace/axe skills and banish enchantment if i need. Am i missing much in a basic rotation right now? I tend to drop bombardment from rene when i remember or need. I barely use heroic command or orders from above - i don't fully understand their purpose other than adding boons (i get that alacrity is THE boon to want but i can't seem to keep it up and i don't feel like smashing it every time it's off CD.

  6. Hey all,

I've recently returned to GW2 after being on and off and this time round i want to stick to it a little longer with hopefully no distractions (life has a way though i'm sure).

I started with a DH guard and have kept that one character since pre-HoT however i wanted to try something different and the rev draw me in from a lore, aesthetic and to a degree, the combat style. I did some due dilligence before committing through googling, searching here and of course the fountain of truth (reddit) on complexity and how it serves in OW, as well as trying it out myself on the 80 boost phase in silverwastes. All was good, i enjoyed it, i liked the sw/sw combat style and pushed the button.

Now i've unlocked renegade and started going down that route, i'm struggling in 80 content in HoT/PoF to get 'the most' out of the class and realised it is actually more complex than i originally thought.  Normally i'm ok with complex classes in MMO's but i'm struggling to get to grips with this one and all the guides i can find, metabattle/SC builds, youtube videos etc keep showing dummy runs with huge numbers, dropping skills all over the place, talking about how the uptime of alacrity etc are 100% and the sustain is unbelievable (The amount of times i read that rev is unkillable in OW is bonkers) yet i can't for the life of me figure out the actual mechanics of how this works,

I've read the skill descriptions which are...loose at best and i'm looking for a little guidance or some pointers on how to actually play rev effectively and explains the reason why certain skills are used in a certain order or which ones compliment others to achieve said "amazing capability" of the rev.

At the moment i'm going down the power rene route, but i'm open to any builds etc really - ideally i'd like a generic overview so i can just play it how i want to play it rather than copy/paste build templates and hope they work!

Am i asking for too much or have i just missed a key guide somewhere?

    Thanks!
