    power holo right now is in the top3 dps builds. always was a decent choice for dps. either you are smoking some weird rocks or it's a skill issue.

    not every spec needs the ability to be played as every role.

    it didn't. engineer is an afterthought at anet, i bet nobody bothered to test it because nobody cares.

    "oh hey john, i need you to approve the release of the new engineer shortbow" - "sure, here" - "you don't wanna test it or look at the result" - "nah, if you literally just took a kitten in the office corner that's good enough for those weirdos."

    so listen here. 1/4 of the way through your dreamland-christmas-combo the target is either already dead or has kittened off. i don't know if this is supposed to be from a pve or pvp perspective but in pve, none of that matters because another class can do twice as much with a single button press and in pvp i don't know how you think having our one and only weapon rely 100% on a pull skill on a kit that can be nullified with dodge or stab is anything but a travesty. there is so much wrong about the bow, even a 20sec cd pull will not save it, even if you land all shots and get all ticks the effect is still bad. i already wrote a whole essay about it, i'm not gonna do it again. if you think anything about this bow is even close to "fine" i strongly recommend seeing a doctor because you probably have brain damage.

    it's not a skill issue, it's a time+range+effect-for-effort-issue.

  4. i wonder why people still discuss topics like this. you know very well that nothing will happen. engineer as the least played class has always been a blurry afterthought on anets radar (except when real and proper players, guardian and mesmer mains complain about something, then the nerfs are fast and violent) and nothing will be ever done to address these issues. there is no point debating what could be done because nothing ever will be done. it's like talking about what we're gonna do the day cows learn to fly.

    save yourself the trouble, just give up. engi was the brainchild of a madman wanting to do something fun and then it had to be made into something that can keep up with the rest without being completely insane and completely broken. that would have taken work so anet just simplified and cut away until we arrive at this husk of a class it is today. accept that and move on. if playing engineer doesn't give you joy because anet violently raped this class, either play another one (anet loves guardian, play guardian and you will be loved) or quit the game, there are other classes and other games. don't waste your time on dreaming about a world where anet cares about engineer. they won't. they never have.

  5. engi generally is broken under water. none of our class mechanics work. the only place where this is semi-relevant is the fractal and i'd honestly suggest they delete this fractal as uw-combat has no place in even mid-ranged content.

     

    however, even the underwater garbage fractal should be easy enough to do without a healer. or somebody just occasionally doing elixir gun 5 or something.

  7. from a purely support perspective (because the weapon is utterly useless in terms of dps/control):

    - the fields are too small; why would i have my team stack up in that tiny circle when hfb and healscourge (and even ham) exist? in pvp none of the skills will ever hit. teammates and opponents will just walk out of them with a/s/d. they are so small that slow walking is enough, no w required.

    - the effects are too minor:

          # mace gives similar barrier + cc without any janky interactions and using the whole skill bar to make it close to worth

          # the heal is so small, it doesn't even matter. again you'd have to use the whole skillbar to make it worth and by the time all that is casted the target to be healed is already down.

          # vuln and might bring nothing to the table since both are capped by just 5 players existing near each other and autoattacking a target.

          # superspeed and stun that won't do much in pve and will never hit in pvp

    - the travel time of the projectiles is waaaaaaaay too long; cool animation and stuff but if i want to heal a target it'll be dead by the time the arrow drops and i activate it. that's just for that one skill. talking about setting up multiple arrows for maximum heal is delusional, the target will be dead 5 times over. casting heal fields and setting up blast finishers (like infusion bomb + cleansing field) already takes forever compared to hfb which has heal on button press with no cast time but a few thousand heal over a span of 5-7 sec when the burst heal comes in at second 4 or 5? utterly useless

    also, in pvp you will never ever hit anything ever with that travel time. by the time the arrow arrives (let alone you setting up a multi detonation combo) the opponent (or teammate) are probably already half across the map.

     

    i don't see this weapon played anywhere in any build except for memes. it's clunky, it's effects are pointless. the damage is nonexistent (less damage than non-holo sword lol), it has very little control and as for support weapons mace+shield does a way better job without any clunky setup, has more cc, protection and utility. will i play it? probably, it'll be fun in openworld for a day or two but the power level is so far below all the things we already have that it will never see the inside of an instance.

    engi getting shafted by "weird and quirky" design once again, what a surprise.

    but i'm also honestly fine with it if somebody loses the first fighting. statistically you're much more likely to also lose the next ones. will you sometimes turn in around? sure. is is statistically worth the time investment to try? hell no. if the first fight is lost and nobody was playing hippiedoodle wannabe hero and just conceded the match then and there everybody would be getting much more done at the end of the day. since the hippies at anet for some reason think a competitive game mode should not have an option to concede it's the most efficient way to end the match as quickly as possible. i actually cannot think of any other pvp game without the option to concede.

    also i don't care what i ruin for anybody else, why would i? those are some internet randoms why would i care about them? would it be different in a static team of 5? absolutely but that was removed a long time ago.

  9. Can we please get a fix on mech which makes the boons given my the mech always prioritise the mechanist actually activating them? Even without party/squad? Whenever i do open world metas i have to make my own solo squad to actually get any boons myself because some people happen to be standing 1 pixel closer to my mech.

    As the owner of the mech i should always have priority on the boons.

  10. there's a lot that can be done, none of it is worth the time and money investment for a playerbase of 3 and a half. and no, doing sweeping changes and investing a lot into the mode won't magically bring back pvp players or birth interest for it in open world bots. that would have had to happen 7-8 years ago to show any kind of significant effect.

    they are actually doing the economically best and only viable solution right now: nothing.

    and that won't change. nobody in their right mind will invest into a dead game mode in a game that's in its senior years. any amount of theory crafting or solution seeking is pointless. it's just a masturbatory exercise of what-if-phantasies.

  11. except for healing, point defense and decap on a thief spec most often than not the player with the highest top stats is often the one who has contributed the least. how often have i seen people hammer their dps onto a target without being able to actually kill or have top kill players chase around people for those kills completely ignoring points, not even decapping when standing right next to it.

Thread #123561345435 to remind that one intern at anet who is forced to log in to the forums once a week to tell his masters that having to move my mouse to the center of the screen and click another button is making me borderline suicidal. How come it works everywhere else but not in the mentioned expansions? It's beyond annoying. Unfortunately in Hot it's the main chests so they have to stay but in Soto i would rather not get the loot from the silver chests at all rather than having to work towards carpal tunnel syndrome opening them. Just remove them at this point, nobody cares about 10 blue unids.

    The worst thing is that you have to wait for the half-hour animation to finish before you can click it away.

  13. this has been demanded since release by anybody except a bunch of goody twoshoes hippies but it's never gonna happen because anet believes in the power of friendship and never giving up or some kitten instead of competitive efficiency.
