  1. I'm pretty disappointed by this. Over a year before I can even get the opportunity to grind out features I already obtained so that I bring my account back to the flexibility I currently have.  There are other games that do vertical progression much better. One of the selling features of this game is the horizontal progression.  I made the mistake if pre-ordering immediately. This will be the last time I make that mistake with Anet, I will also not be able to recommend people try this game any longer.

Implanting the bonus feature for if you have both masteries is their way of trying to soften the blow on those who already have skyscale. I don't have a issue with their being an "easier" to get skyscale but I would personally find it insulting if it was free. Where would the sense of achievement be? 

    How does making it easier for others make your achievement of getting it while it was more difficult any less? They've already made getting the skyscale easier from when it launched. I finished map comp the 1st time while we still had to unlock all of the poi and vista's in wvw. They made that easier too. It doesn't take away what I did. Really the problem here is people want to use the skyscale as a flex. It shouldn't be a flex though because it delivers so much utility. Anet could fix this by having cool skyscale skins locked behind achievements. Do an easy quest to unlock the basic skin and use of the mount, you have to earn the majority of the skills and cool skins. The problem with that is they want to sell the coolest skins in the gem store.

  3. I hope they do give the skyscale to new people or make it super easy and cheap for them to get. The mount is so good the Blizz copied it.

    Anything to get more people in and enjoying the game is great as long as it doesn't detract from current players progression and experience. It doesn't negatively impact people who have a skyscale in anyway to give them out. If anything it will save us veteran players gold because ultimately we tend to help people get the mount.

    So yes please give away the skyscale. While they are at it just make leyline gliding automatic. I'm tired of helping in raid training, making it to Xera only to have a few members have to leave because they don't have it.

  4. Sounds pretty common. My guild leader got assigned to a different world from the rest of our guild. We also had other guildies assigned to other worlds. They had the guild selected as their wvw in the guild panel and also on the wvw selection menu. Anet's not fixing for people either. I don't know about the rest of you but when I play an mmo it's to be with friends. WvW is team based so 2 weeks in a beta without a driver is going to be genuinely terrible.  The lack of flexibility from Anet for people that got misplaced is awful considering they are using us as guinea pigs for 2 weeks this time.

    It would be nice to have some better rewards. As someone who tends to play support the compensation for time spent can feel lacking.

    It is actually simple, just fix the WvW infrastructure closer to the old one where you had strategic decisions available and were meaningful, small scalers also had more to do:

    1. Watchtower shouldn't activate unless contested. Watchtower limits too much map from roamers passing to danelon and Rogues and stuff. Then they just get ganked by 5 people. Circumventing that usually also means multiple enemis. It also punishes new players from exploring WvW as learning watchtowers might take a while.
    2. Dolyaks should carry less supply, escort buff should be lowered from 90%->50%,  and keeps/castles should require more dolyaks. Small scalers play around camps and should be able to overcome defenders and be more meaningful. Once keeps or castles are T3, there is no scene anymore since defenders don't care about dollies at that point.
    3. Minstrel stat should be nerfed. You can see gods of the arena running around with 1 minstrel + 1 DPS. Only way to match them is bringing 1 minstrel player too and then neither side can kill another. Reduce concentration effectiveness in WvW. This will also fix blob fights.
    4. Claim buff should be reduced considerably (+120 total max).You having +100 power, +100 precision + 100 vit, +100 toughness vs enemy having it is around 15% damage and 15% survivability difference. So 2 runesets. Roaming shouldn't be just defending and dueling should be fair again. Tense rivalries between similarly skilled players should be allowed to develop instead of owner of nearest location deciding who wins..
    5. Shield generators should be reworked, siege vs siege damage buffed and wall/gate hp buffed. Shield gens blocking treb/cata fire makes most fight baiting or supply draining tactics obsolete. You can't even slow down enemy blob with siege anymore since siege vs siege damage was halved and wall/gate HP reduced in the past.

     

    My solution to reviving roaming isn't balance changes but  simply giving you more things to do, more enemies and making everything you do meaningful while giving you possibility of tense rivalries to incite emotions. Note that all these things were already in the game years before being made obsolete by massive HoT changes that were never revisited.

    I agree with all of this. One thing that used to hold value and was a fantastic way to learn or enjoy the game mode smaller scale was scouting. There is no real point to scout with the current blob meta as all the big groups just run around capping the same stuff or running over small groups of people. Most groups don't respond to call outs so objectives just freely flip teams. Defense has always been one of my favorite aspects but it doesn't seem to matter at all now.

    How exactly is this not some sort of preview for how alliances will ultimately work? The fight guilds will stack together and if you're not in one you'll end up on team punching bag. Period.  A roamer or small pvx guild that can't(or doesn't want to)get in an alliance or with one of the fight guilds will have no control over where they end up.  I've dealt with some pretty rough match ups in the past but takes the cake.  Anet can keep their meager wvw xp buff it's not worth the frustration.

    And then people gonna say yeah but you can use Marauder. yes we can, but why should Ele be the only class in WvW that has to use Marauder or parts of that. Why do Ele have to pick runes or sigils, infusions or build choices that will add some extra defense when no other class have to do that. They still can but they do not have too. They can pick something in the build or add some other vitality additions but ele HAVE to have this unless they don't want to get one shotted. 

     

    And yes i can go in and play berserker ele but my high risk is WAY higher then any other class. And if what was said at the very beginning still was true that ele is a glasscannon and there for low hp then i would be ok with it, but Ele in WvW have been ripped apart and are trapped in some weird cooldown situations, and Tempest that actually was usefull with their aura share have also been nerfed. Are we bad? no we are ok, but as soon as we touch up on being great we get hit hard. And buffs are weird buffs and again NO extra base hp. It is time to give Ele a higher base HP to at least be on pair with other classes who can do way higher dps and still have higher hp. Why can they be glasscannons without trade offs? 

    Yeah I play ele main and a lot in wvw. It's not in a good place that said playing ele as a roamer isn't impossible but you definitely can't play full berzeker. Most classes don't run full berzeker so I wouldn't really say this is an issue. Cele gear works pretty well on tempest and I've run a few different variations with weaver you just need to be quick on the dodges and teleports.

    For group comp ele kinda lost its place with the nerf to aura tempest. 

    Catalyst was not very appealing to me in the 1st place and I don't see it changing the meta so investing time into it seems counter productive.  As such I've shelved the ele and started playing other classes with the hope I find something else I enjoy.

    I just honestly can't deal with the constant carousel of nerfs to ele anymore with the amount of work and practice it takes to get rotations down it just doesn't feel worth it when I can play almost any other class with half the effort and twice the results.

    Thinking this does not make you a horrible person. I've honestly felt the same way. People whined relentlessly about Chalice of Tears I was all too happy to help port people through for the return to event. I'm a little bitter about that now. I still haven't gotten my turtle so I can't help with that but if you are on NA I can definitely help you on the raiding front. Feel free to hit me up in game. I help with really laid back training runs every Sunday. I can save you a spot if you'd be willing to come try it out.

Map chats are toxic AF right now with people not having any real place to vent properly. Most likely monday or tuesday another change is coming that will get rid of randomization and put mechanics at staged intervals such as % completed.

    This is true. I've seen it happen with so many other things in the past. When people ask why the rush????...this is why. At the same time though it's not healthy. I find myself holding back from berating players in the map for not dodging or CC'ing. I'm normally pretty chill. I'm usually down to help new players. I rarely come to the forums. This just has me so tilted I know if I log on I'll try again and likely end up losing it on someone.

How often do you see Tequatl fail now? Almost never. I imagine this new meta will be much the same a month from now. I understand these days it's all about instant rewards, but have some patience. 

    I keep seeing people say this about Teq and TT. It's been a long time for me perhaps my memory isn't clear. Can you please remind me which mastery lines were gated behind successful completion of these events?

    Also it is not a matter of challenge as well with a open map meta,  having to just roll enough events until you get the right map, where people know their builds, know the mechanics , then another rng check for the boss not doing iframes enough  is not challenging, its just grinding a lottery roll. The collection of the siege turtle is easy, but at the moment it is impossible to finish because the event that locks out an item is bugged, is there a challenge in this? Because the only challenge I see is another roll of the dice until I get an instance that is not bugged or wait until the devs fix the issue.  

    If getting to the point of the story where getting one would actually make sense is not enough , then put it behind something a strike mission, then you can enter with a well coordinated group, learn the mechanics together, beat it and earn it, this is way better than having to  rely on blind luck.  Or just sell in a vendor for 500g, that way people can work their way up  to that amount whichever the way they want by enjoyng the content. 

    My point was doing collections can be challenging but are with in player control doing collections for Vision and Aurora come to mind. Some people had a hard time with the jump puzzles. I personally didn't and would help others through and have spent full afternoons porting people through Chalice of Tears when people were needing help with that. I don't have an issue if there is some challenge to getting the mount. I do have a problem with it being up to an rng riddled mess. It doesn't matter how much I practice if I don't roll a good map or the boss mechanic rng sucks that run it will fail. Stick the egg at the end of strike I'd be ok with that because even if we don't get it 1st roll you can practice and tweak as needed.

    Yep exactly! I give up. A bunch of other games have dropped this month that I'd like to play so I'll be off doing that. I'll pop back into GW2 for my weekly pve raid with my guild and some wvw maybe but beyond that I'm done. I was really enjoying this expansion but walling off an entire mastery line behind this event has soured me on the whole thing.

    This feels like the same kitten they pulled with the skyscale, except worst as it is not an actual time gate although it  might just as well be one. Five days into the expansion and I still dont have the kitten mount that was advertised , in fact I got to play it more without paying for the expansion than I did after paying for it, is just kitten ludicrous.  For once Anet should just give us the mount when we get to jade sea story point, just give it to us,  let us have fun with it, thats why we paid for expansion,  lock titles and skins behind collections and metas. We are the kitten hero of tyria that killed gods and dragons to save the world from destruction , cant we get a freaking mount for free ?    

    All I got out of this was to hate the Jade Sea meta and the certainty that I will never do it again no matter what. 

    I don't want the mount for free.  I do not think they should make the turtle free or even easy to get.  I actually had no problem at all acquiring the griffin or skyscale mounts. I got my skyscale well before they nerfed the time gate stuff. I like challenging content. My problem is this is that getting the turtle egg is completely beyond my control.
