  1. Profession-specific UI and shortcut

[F5] shortcut makes me seriously nostalgic of the tempest's overload-style ones.

Also gauge is too small and needs a clear minimum marker.

    Trait lines

Elemental Epitome isn't worthwhile with the current blasts per minute.

Maybe making attunement swap, jade sphere and/or augments blast would make a good saddle for the mechanic?

    Jade Sphere

    Base boon durations too small.

  2. LFG doesn't see much use outside of tournament, for I think at least 4 reasons:

    - Lack of a shortcut icon in the main PvP panel (like at the fractal portal)

    - Lack of a portal to go through in order to prompt the UI (people going places together, stronger)

    - Lack of a default keybinding for the PvP UI

    - Queue dodging (ranked)

The first three can easily solve the problem for unranked as is and draw maybe a little more crowd for tourney.

The last one wont work without first anonymizing the players, and showing ranks in UI.

    Thoughts?

  3. Didn't you mean [Harmonious Conduit] instead of [Invigorating Torrents]?

Don't see much point in the [Rune of Speed] if your only source lies in Air [4].

    Other than that:

Thanks for making me give an earnest shot at [Glyph of elementals], I like it.

I think I kinda see how staff and air trait line allows you to take the rez, and do some "support and run" with [Overload Air] spam.

But still, I would rather drop the rez and air trait line for the ability to stand some ground and get away with it (mist-form, earth trait line, dagger+warhorn).

Too bad ele doesn't have better rez speed traits.

    g3 too.

and my answer is: do you think anet is going to answer you ?, anet is like chuck norris in missing in action

I think this reference neither aged well nor applies well here.

Small pvp updates still roll out frequently, and minor adjustments to shouts would fit there.

If nothing else, bumping the topic every once in a while at least earns me feedback from other players and raises their awareness not to invest in the spec as is.

Tempest is the second best supporter and offers high value

Can you tone down with the trolls?

Scourge is second best, somewhat closer to viable and for a lower skill cap.

Tempest has to pack so much self-sustain its on-demand team value tanks and requires a higher skill cap to milk.

    /Shouts rambling On

I mean, aura-share on overloads is cute, but shouts currently just pack neither the same self-sustain as cantrips nor the same rez power as the glyph.

Yes, even if you build for it with fire trait line and rune of the soldier, loosing toughness btw.

Cast times means you are dead before using the useful ones when stunned.

And the whole aura-share thing doesn't even work as advertised.

I mean, if I give others and myself an aura, shouldn't other allies get another extra aura?

    Think Mark, think!

That's exactly what the better ones are doing right now though.

They just go Fresh Air level DPS with Light Rod, play as a Roamer +1, and grant supplemental utility from their Aura Share.

It's actually a decent Roamer. You just need to know the difference between Roamer, Team Fighter, Side Node. Don't get caught out of position.

Better ones? Decent roamer? Go troll necro topics, plz.

Anet trashed Tempest in the update and that's ok.

I just want to know if it will get fixed so I can move on to something else.

It's fine as a higher dps roamer utility aura support tbh. It's just not material for a central support anymore.

    High roaming DPS?

Tempest's DPS lies in multi-target AOEs. Or in other words: quantity over quality.

To get half decent single target DPS, you need to get so squishy you'll just wipe or loose support ability.

Aside from +1 it doesn't do much as a roamer.

    Looking Ahead (...)

We’ve also considered the possibility that moving support builds from Mender to Avatar amulet could end up making them too squishy due to the reduction in self-healing. This is something that we’ll evaluate on a case-by-case basis, but we’re prepared to make further adjustments as necessary to find the right balance between squishiness and support power. This could involve buffs to more selfish survivability skills, or possibly further increasing outgoing support potential to justify the level of vulnerability.

That’s all we have for today. Thanks for reading, and we’ll see you in the mists!

It has been more than 5 seasons since then.

Do you intend to pick Tempest out of the trash tier any time soon?

  9. Tried both staff and scepter+dagger.

Unfortunately I've found staff cruelly lacks sustained condi damage for cleaving.

However, I've found scepter+dagger more promising, as it results to on par or better ranking than dagger+warhorn.

Mostly thanks to better damage, range and condi cleanse.

It does however require faster reaction times and more bursty APM to outperform dagger+warhorn, which sounds fair.

On a serious note, you should try Magnet Shield. It’s a good utility for self survival, you just have to make space for it in your utilities.

I've found "Aftershock!" a superior alternative to Magnetic Shield in terms of reactivity, core skills availability and reflection spaced availability.

One every 30 sec, versus  2 every 12 and nothing for 36 sec.

Not that much difference, though. But definitely something to pack.

This might be the best balance between survivability and support.

Lack of stun breaks is the biggest concern which I hope Fresh Air could help compensate a bit.

Staff gives a nice mix of support and cc and helps compensate the lack of condi cleanse. It allows you to support without comitting to melee range. Biggest weakness would be getting focused down.

No I haven't tested this lol.

Thanks, I took my previous build to G3 and I had a new iteration that sometimes gets me in plat.

I want to try staff, but it already means loosing an aura and I don't feel like letting go of the team cleanse + heal from the fire trait line in exchange for superspeed.

Same thing for the mobility of Lighning Flash.

Might trade rez for Mist Form though.

So here's the staff build for my next test run.

I'll keep you posted on results.
