Atm I personally prefer the Untamed, partly because it's new and new is fun.

I feel the same as well. I used to play power SB and I'm having a lot of fun with Untamed atm but I prefere the condi variant as it gives more stat benefits than say berserker or marauder. Also, I feel like I'm constantly doing something with condi vs power which can be more punishing if people know how to dodge your skills.

Fervent Force is also just such a fun trait to make builds around

any builds with condi & fervent force?

Thank you so much for the feedback 😀

I'll say I don't see the point for hammerless builds like this when you can just run druid for way better results.

Personally, I just like the Untamed's pet control(teleport mainly) and combo-ing Winter's bite with the Axe ambush attack. Talking from a roaming 1v1, 2v2 perspective.

Please do share a druid build, preferably duelist with condi and traps 🙇‍♂️

You have picked Light on your feet, but not using shortbow. Is that a missclick? Or are you making that work without it?

I initially picked it by elimination, but after your comment I think it might be a mistake.
I don't really weapon swap to GS to do damage but rather to defend myself and I find  the Axe/Wh CDs pretty low anw, so Quick Draw is a bit meh for me atm. Could be viable, but haven't tried it yet.

Upon further inspection, I think Vicious Quarry might be the best option here, as I don't use a shortbow and condi duration is not something I care about atm which is essentially what I'm getting with Light on your Feet without shortbow.

Greatsword on a carrion amulet is interesting, i asume in spvp you mostly do duels and side node with the build?

Unfortunately, I've only been playing with this build in conquest for a few days and the conquest season ended so can't report on extensive time, but when I was playing I did indulge in side-noding and duels but also joined team fights.

What are your thoughts on the ideal pets. I find the condi ones(Iboga, Birds) a bit too squishy... Especially in WvW!

    Since people wanna see:
The main build I used doing the season where this one:
    http://gw2skills.net/editor/?POwEU6MssC2HzjRxOxy3JN+Vi43D-z5YfGZKD6VJowB

It where the better roaming around option and "safer" since I didn't have to go into the team fights unless I wanted to for doing dmg.

    I also played around with:
    http://gw2skills.net/editor/?POwAUd/lVwsYeMK2JW+OpxvSE/eA-z5YfGZKD6VBowB
Which had some insane team fight dmg going, but only used it if my team had a support

Lastly I played around with the following for dueling and side node:
    http://gw2skills.net/editor/?POwAUdjlVwWZeMK2JWePpxvSE/cA-z5YfGZKD6VBowB
sometimes swapping away from the extra stun break depending on the match up ect.

For the pets I ended up pretty much always using Iboga, but tried a lot of different as said in my former post. Turtle and Jarcande being my fav runner ups, but plenty of good options.

The worst match up for the two first builds are heavy CC builds, which funny enough often meant other Untamed builds 😅

Thank you so much for sharing! Your build is quite similar to mine.
    http://gw2skills.net/editor/?POwAEdjlVUwCTbeZtpo2ZoWeP1x/SE/eA-zZoOkGVAZKF6YEowB
I opted for GS for some defense and evasion, maybe some cleave at points and use Protect Me to give me some more defensive capabilities!

I mainly use mine for sPVP and started trying it a bit at some roaming. I'm enjoying it quite a lot atm!

Half true. Hammer does nothing for condi, that is true. But Fervent Force grandmaster does a lot for it. Shorter cd on traps and shortbow skills definitely helps. Concussion Shot, Spike trap and Exploding spores all fit into condi build and reduce cooldowns.

What about the other traits of the same line? Restorative Strikes only works with strike damage, and I'm not sure about Ferocious Symbiosis. Also based on the Hammer's cc and the fact that Fervent Force reduces CDs base on CC one could make the same argument for Hammer no?

True. Then again that is ranger issue not untamed issue. Pet should simply take super low/no damage from AoE except for ones from person it's targetting. The one attacked can damage it fully. Rest should be voided.

Agreed but given how much more control of the pet we get with untamed (especially with Venomous Outburst) which I really appreciate, it feels especially bad on untamed. I like your damage voiding suggestion.

Ranger has always had smooth, responsive controls and that has not changed.

I think this is personal preference and correlates to point no 3. Fluidity breaks when the pet actions are not consistent.

Yes, it's called balanced design. Everything else has either tons of cc, evasion/defense or range build into it. Hammer unleash is pure melee offense and as such gets best damage.

I was mostly referring to the fact that Hammer gets basically two skill sets whereas all other weapons get one unleashed ability. This is not a dealbreaker for me personally, but still feels a bit bad I guess?

I don't like the way you phrased that. Name the concrete underperformers because there's a lot of great traits that could unjustly get the snip. I can name one for sure - 5% value restorative strikes. That one is fair to call out. If there are others - name them.

This was done on purpose, as I was expressing a feeling I got from the majority of posts. Since you asked about my personal opinion, though:

    1. Debilitating Blows & Enhancing impact feel pretty meh
    2. Nature's Shield & Cleansing unleash are both pretty good and mostly viable
    3. Blinding Outburst & Corrupting vines feel utlra meh to me, and I think that correlates to the pet's damage, which is low. Would be interesting if that were to change and your pet's unleash abilities hurt more, though.
    4. Fervent force is great and I love it in PVE but I think it should also be affected by pets abilities. in sPVP the CD reduction is halved to 2s :classic_sad:
    5. Restorative strikes should also work with condition damage
    6. Ferocious symbiosis i have not played with extensively.

Finally, thanks for taking the time to comment. Ultimately, the only fact that matters here, is that the majority of the ranger player base is not happy with the new spec. The points I've added were my personal opinion. At the end of the day, I just want to hear what Anet is hearing/seeing about the spec as I too am fond of it but feel like it's missing something. For the record, I enjoy sPVP,  WvW and Open World content.

    What would you change Zef?

  7. I've been checking out the forums of the Untamed spec and since the first beta, the VAST majority of people have been unhappy with it... I'm just curious on how Anet is receiving / perceiving this feedback and any possible future plans for the spec....

Summary of some feedback I personally agree with:

    1. Very low damage not much condi synergy
    2. meant to be a WvW spec but relies on pet which instantly dies in large scale groups
    3. Pets often bug out / AI unreliable
    4. Often clunky / non-rewarding  to play
    5. Hammer unleashed seems like a must vs other weapons
    6. Some traits are underwhelming and don't apply to pet abilities
    7. Visuals are still a bit polarizing to say the least

I hope we can get a response 🤞

The Unleash Mode should work mechanically much like a holo/shroud works on other classes.

Give the untamed a timed unleash mode where the Ranger and Pet both get Movement/Damage bonus and a different set of skills (similar how the current hammer changes skills now) and then make the normal state a defensive brawler waiting for the right moment to go RAWR.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, THIS PLEASE!!!
