  1. Old Lion's Arch (Memory of Old Lion's Arch) should have the original vistas and points of interest back. Also some services like guilds services, Guild Banker (bothe in the bank) and a Weaponsmith vendor next to the Armorsmith vendor in Trader's Forum are missing too. They were also in Old LA before it was destroyed. Last but not least, the area names are missing on the map too.

It would be nice if they are re-added in the next patch.

Why would you be under that impression when nothing of the sort was stated by Anet?

Yup, Anet said on the Twitter post: "Starting next Tuesday, you’ll be able to pilot your jade bot beyond Cantha! We’re adding jade bot terminals to Lion’s Arch and all five racial capital cities in the January 31  Guild Wars 2 game update!"

I tested again tonight out of morbid curiosity, and the portal seemed to work! Looks like an undocumented fix for the win! Can anyone else confirm it's not just me?

Yes, I can confirm that the portal is working normally again and that the game no longer crashes when using it.

  4. I hope that this issue with the gate will be fixed soon and also some NPC services are missing too, a Weaponsmith vendor is missing in Trader's Forum next to the Armorsmith vendor, the guild bank and a Guild Commendation Trader (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Tyrian_Explorer_Olread) in the bank are also missing. They were also in the original LA and I hope that they will be re-added too.

To be clear, people aren't asking for new decorations, but rather the original 2012/2013 decorations to return for Wintersday, Halloween, and Dragon Bash as all three already exist (or at least did in the Halloween/Wintersday cases).

This is what I also want. Having the original festival decorations during Wintersday, Dragon Bash and Halloween in old LA.

We will definitely visit it as it's in the process of being destroyed in the Battle for Lion's Arch.  But as for seeing it before it's destroyed, I don't know, but I think probably not. I imagine the moment we walk in the cut scene will play showing Scarlet's airships flying in and bombing the place to hell. Then we fight through the half destroyed city.

It is worth nothing however, that old LA is still available in the personal story episodes and LWS1 episodes that took place in it, although you don't have free range to roam the whole city, and are restricted to the story zone.

It's possible they might add a story instance in LA before the Battle for LA, but I think it will be restricted to only the relevant story area as previous story maps were. As for a full scale pre battle map of LA that you can wonder through at your leisure, I don't see that happening.

Ha! I was right. You can visit Old Lion's Arch again. https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/living-world-season-1-return-battle-for-lions-arch-is-now-live/

One parallel ArenaNet has historically liked to throw is that the Living World is like a TV series - episodic continued narratives bundled in seasons.

Can you also say that the core game is the pilot film and the expansions are extra films or special long episodes for the appropriate seasons? (Like Heart of Thorns for Season 2 and Path of Fire for Season 3.)

The remake of season 1 does leave out a lot from the original season 1 and Anet already stated, that my favorite episode "Escape from Lion's Arch" will not be part of this remake ... and the original "Battle for Lion's Arch" involved a lot of chaotic (some say mindless) zerging around.

Maybe they combined the "Escape from Lion's Arch" and "Battle for Lion's Arch" as one. But we will see it on next Tuesday.

I really want to enjoy the story without speedrunning this piece of content with other players, because apparently, most players can't just slow down.

Do we know anything how Battle for Lion's Arch will be? Maybe similar to EoD — everything doable in solo story instances + additional Strike Missions for group content?

So your question is answered: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/living-world-season-1-return-battle-for-lions-arch-arrives-next-week/

But if you mean a version of LA you can access at any time without story to fully explore? That is indeed wishful thinking. The only possibility of that is if Lion's Pride is an ascended rarity lounge pass as people have been speculating. But that is still very thin possibility and an ascended trinket (possibly a precursor) is more likely.

Well, looks like I'll never be able to visit the original Lion's Arch map outside of the story unfortunately. 😔 I've always wanted to visit the original Lion's Arch outside of the story because I played GW2 since early 2015 and I only knew the ruined Lion's Arch and the current Lion's Arch. The current Lion's Arch is nice but I've seen every corner of this version. It's sad but not bad.

Maybe not all dreams come true, but one can still hope. 😉
