[Help me pick a main]

As the title suggests I am needing help/advice on picking a main. I want to focus on one class and work through achievements and game completion. 
 

I am looking at a dps class for all pve content including open world and would like to be able to dip into some wvw also. Any suggestions on classes or builds would be greatly appreciated. 

I know Gw2 is alt friendly however I don’t get many hours a day to play and want to focus attention to one class for now. 

[Ranger or mech]

So I am currently tossing up between ranger or mech, I want to play a class with a pet and mainly focusing on all forms of pve content as dps working toward legendary etc and smashing out content. What would be the pick or any pros/cons welcome to feedback and or options.

My best advice would be to look on https://hardstuck.gg/ you can find pretty much all relevant PvE builds on it sorted by class and difficulty level of the build. If you want to see the builds in action just type the build name on youtube and you should find loads of vids demonstrating the build. 

Also you dont have to worry to much about dps. Most classes are quite forgiving aslong as you have decent traits, armor and weapons. Ontop of that there are barely any dps checks ingame. 95% of the endgame PvE content can be done with only ~10k dps (which is like 25% of the dps capacity of most builds). Sure extra dps definitely helps on most boss fights, but it is by no means necessary.

[Returning player | levelling]

Morning all, I am a returning player after quite a number of years away from the game. I will be levelling solo and mainly interested in pve content (DPS role) open world to start then diving into harder stuff. 
 

I am wanting some advice on classes or builds that are pretty straight forward and easy to play (minimal) buttons to press or rotations to focus on. I want to enjoy the game and not have to stress about button mashing.
