I've never seen any such text or demand on any LFG meta group for EOD or anywhere else for that matter.

The only problem i personally with the EoD metas are"full map" preventing me from joining the actual group.  Compare any EoD map caps with HoT or any LW4 map and EoD feels completely ridiculously limiting.

expanding the map cap can possible be another solution to this metas problem. when looking up points for this video i made a concerted effort to look around as i wrote the script. most of the time if i did see a DE post is usually had those in there cause the group was getting hard organize

Skipped most of the vid seeing how 3 minutes in you're still not even close to being done explaining the old HoT meta event step-by-step, even though most people here probably don't need it explained.

Improved rewards upon failure so the people aren't going out empty handed? Sure, probably. Then again when you confirm it's about players "not walking empty handed upon failing the event", any other buffs and additional timers implemented specifically to make it easier to complete the meta successfully almost no matter what seem to be contradictory to what you claim the goal is. Because now (probably less than a minute after you've made the empty-handed upon failure argument?) the goal isn't to still have a hard event that isn't majorly discouraging upon failure, but... an easier event. To me it looks like the first part is barely a set of smoke and mirrors to -in the end- just say "make it easier" anyways.

Your mentioned example of a group failing the event because they failed mechanic/s multiple times? I mean... seems to be working like intended?

You say the proposed changes "aren't for now, but for the future". If we take what you say as truth and not just a nicely-sounding phrase then I suppose we can easly wait for the  release of newer content (which is what you mentioned yourself), anet can see when there's consistently not enough people to finish the meta and then they can scale it down? Won't that solve that particular problem you say you're targetting here? (I'm treating the "empty-handed upon failure" thing as separate issue/solution unrelated to this one btw)

Finally, apparently you're dismissing people saying they "like hard content" because "the game has hard [instanced] content". Well, if that's enough of an argument for you, then the game also has a rather big amount of easy content (both OW and -perhaps to a slightly lesser extent, but still- instanced). Suddenly having a smaller % of harder OW content doesn't matter because there's instanced one? Can't say I agree with you.

it seems you failed to see why i implemented that stuff in the beginning of the video and went into detail about DS and DF. it was just juxtapose how DE is ran against it. i dont know what the back end numbers are for the DE maps but i know in my travels i have talked to plenty a player who still had a hard time clearing the meta and i jsut want them to have a fair shake at it and not walk away empty handed. do i want the even fail able still? sure cause they it does retain some of its difficulty. but it also shouldn't leave 40 people that spent maybe an hour alone on one map with a "thank you try again". with all the buffs on the map it should make the fight a cakewalk cause the players put in the time an energy for it.  as for the mechanics we missed 2 CCs and was slow on getting to the tail twice. there are raid bosses that are more forgiving then that. i caint remember how many greens ive skipped while doing vale guardian cause the community found a way around it.

the reason i scream for the changes now is cause we know how anets devs are sadly. its one of the few gripes i do have about the studio. the only time we have a chance at making these kinds of changes is in the here and now cause its fresh in everyone's mind. should we look at wvw reconstruction that was announced like 2 years ago then the team just left it on the ground and only just got picked back up again shortly before EoD launch?

with the over world stuff i will say thins. guild wars 2 was marketed as a game that everything is viable but not everything is optimal. right now with the way the DE meta is its a hard crash against that philosophy the game and anet seems to mostly focus on the overworldso it should be the most accessible thing to all players regardless of what that person runs. every single map in the game in the overworld follows that kind of mentality. so long as you are activly doing the event you should succeed it. the DE fight is the only map that does not.

Haven't failed in the Meta in Months. I join Tags that separate groups so that boons are distributed evenly and people are assigned locations for splits.

As far as what I get from those 2 Hours: 400 Favors (~20g after conversion), 15 Memories of Aurene (~7g), & Antique Summoning Stone (~7g). I would say ~34g for 2 hours of work isn't that bad.

yes but when most tags, that i have seen at least, read "de organized meta bring alac/quick" can you see how some folks wouldn't want to join it cause they are neither and would rather not get yelled at due to  experiences with strikes or fractals advertising the same way?

and again your only looking at the numbers if you win if not you may only have the favors if that and most folks may not know how to turn favors into gold or are saving them up for something else.

time is very short for soo-won in 20 min with random people is very short, the closest thing I've seen is 8% and it was a failure, in all these months I only entered one instance where they succeeded and it was an organized group of a guild

and thats why i made this video is to bring more light onto stuff like your experience. everyone loses it when on group gets so many kills in a certain way but im trying to bring light on how the fight isnt all that fair if you are pugging it hard like DS or DF cause if this doesn't get looked at now in the future itll only get worse when people move on from the map.

The word casual explains it all sadly...
So many great metas have been ruined. Also a lot of us long time players only play rarely because of nothing to do in this game at all except the weekly raids and daily T4 fractals. This is the reason why such a good game has begun dying down. There's not much to do for veterans.

hi beta player and daily player. what do you mean there isnt much for veterans to do. i still find plenty of things to do on a daily basis, achivments, farming for loot, helping friends out. maybe your talking about tryhards not having things to do. please do keep in mind im not using tryhard as a negative. the game is super casual thats how they made it. from the inital posts with colin back in the day where he literally stated "we are trying to make a game where anyone can run any role at any time and not get penalized for it" its almost the games DNA at that point. hard content is nice and is needed. it should not be in open world content like map metas that take an hour and a half to complete and if you fail you get no rewards at all.

But casuals should know what a break bar is and how to use CC. They should also know how to hit more than 2k DPS. It is the casuals fault that they fail. They do not want to learn. Post confusing emojis all you want. But just learn a simple rotation and tada. you will be a better player that ALL will appreciate.  Especially themselves.

why gate keep? what the hell happened to "play the game your way" most folks probably do know what the break bar is and missing one or two of those phases should not end and entire hour and a half of working for the kill. a full map of folks should be able to kill this boss if all of them are on it.

Drama, the mount is not neccesary for anything, same as Griffon or Skyscake with the difference these ones makes your life MUCH easier.

Belive me after you get your mount, you will see its kinda useless or boring, and leave to play somethingelse. So making it that you dont get it instatly is good.

PD: Really theres quite a lot of people here that want things for free, come play gw2 for 1 week and leave, its supposed to be a long term mmo. Idk getting ur turtle in 2-3 weeks is not that much drama.

no one wants it for free they want a fair fight for a fun little reward that the expansion pack was partly sold on. If you do not get the turtle then you cannot get any spirit shards in EoD. the skyscale and griffon have been cake walks compared to some of the people i have talked to who have hit 20 attempts on the boss and failed. Think about that. 20 freaking hours doing nothing but that one meta and failing. each. and. every. time. that is not fun for them and i caint blame them for leaving. i was lucky enough to get my turtle. I aint touching DE every again till they either boost the map population to around 100 people or add at most 5 minutes to the fight. The meta asks to much for casual players who may only have 2-3 hours free to play this game at night. they just want to sit down and play their fun dragon game not feel anxious for an hour+ on a map with 60 other folks and wonder if this time will be the time that the boss doesn't kitten them over. that the 59 other people in that fight are raiders.

The fight needs to be scaled around so non organized groups can take it down just like with dragon stand, dragon fall, and dragon storm. you want hard content raids are right over there. you want folks to get into raids. tell um to start with strikes and learn what those require of you. NOTHING in basic pve that has these kinds of rewards placed behind them requires you to run like this meta does. no one is asking for the turtle or the kill to be free. they just want it fair.

I like this little attention to detail, but I feel a few minutes of difference is too small. Cantha is nearly on the other side of the world and should have an opposite day/night cycle.

Cantha is directly south of tyria. If it truly on the "opposite side" of the world from cantha then we have to look at the tilt of tyria to accommodate the seasons. 5 am in lions arch is roughly 5 am in suiting harbor. now if Tyria has a tilt which would be the seasons. Now with cantha having equal time for night and day but Tyria having a longer day we can assume in the northern hemisphere of tyria it is summer while cantha is experiencing their equinox. If so there should technically be lands further south of cantha that is experiencing winter.

I think it's a nice idea, since Anet themselves already introduced the concept.  It would certainly make the world feel more like a place where people actually live, and not so much just a stomping ground for killer commanders to flex their weapon skills.  Great for RPers, and pseudo-RPers like me, and there are a number of little inns scattered around already that would then get a real purpose.  I'm good with it being something you have to unlock via collection quests or quest chains, or mastery points as well; perhaps something like "helping the inn keeper recover from bandit attacks" sort of justifications for not simply handing it out to people.

If they went the event unlock route i would have it as a one and done like Core hearts.  or tie it into the hearts as well. that way players arnt having to do them every day they want to sleep at an inn. heck another route would be a small fee. 50 copper for level 2s and 10 silver for a level 80 to gain access tot he small area.

  12. So I want to ask the community a few questions cause I am curious if you guys would want to see this in game. When you purchase the first mastery in Arborstone you unlock an area in the bottom left corner (I think) on the second floor that has a ton of beds. When you just walk into the area you have a 4 hour debuff on your toon.  If you log out and leaving the toon there when you log back in after 4 hours you will be welcomed with a 4 hour buff that is based on how far in the mastery you are. 5% for the start and I think up to 25% when you finish in bonus XP gain for that 4 hours.  With this inn being added I would honestly love a rework of towns in game offering this Inn. Racial cities should easily get one in some buildings already in the city. add it in an update like "cities restful revitalization" and give a base 10% to all players for the four hours while keeping Arborstone at the 25% cap. If you have the mastery then the game reads your mastery and give the higher level that way. The other thing I would love to see is in in the random towns  in game like Queensdale, Ebonhawk, maybe specifically marked keeps in the game and the orders headquarters but only after you've joined an order. This would help out new players who log in those areas come back to a nice XP buff while they play and it helps us vets as we work on our new masteries at the same time.

What are your thoughts on an Inn in game to help rest your character for bonus xp. Should we get different inns that offer different buffs like PVE only +100 to power removed upon entering raids, wvw, etc?

  13. I main necromancer. I didnt play much save to read skills and tooltips  during the betas cause "rewards not saved on this toon" killed any will to play them.  So far i have enjoyed Harbinger and im moving slowly off of reaper and enjoying it. feels a little fresh again.

  14. Hello i thought i would like to bring up a problem in world vs world and in general the whole game. The downed state. Regular PVE doesn't have this problem but it is a bit problem in both PVP and WVW. What i mean here is some classes are arguable better in thir downed skills. i would say the mesmer, ele, and guardian have some of the best downed states in the game. a small tele with stealth, a movement skill in mist form, and an AOE shield that pushes back. Alas the necro, engie, and rev have some of the worst. a single target skill.

the reason i say they are bad is with the first three they will always have the skill work unless the enemy has stability. even then the guards is in an AOE. the latter three, they go down and the enemy has stab they have 0 options. The other big problem is the allowment of other mechanics inside of the finisher. Elixedr S to finish. a skill that last the duration of a finisher with 0 ways to counter and makes the engie completely invulnerable. its a free finish with no way to change it. from there mesmer, ranger, and thief can stealth/ portal while doing the finisher. Is there anyway to change in these two game modes the ability for those scenarios to be a thing? you cannot cap in wvw or pvp when S or stealth. you caint carry points while stealth or S. why should on get a free kill that way? the other fix would be to rework every classes downed state so we all had the choice of an AOE push skills or something to move us. it has been 8 years anet and with EOD hopefully nearing the end of development and the team can focus on some smaller stuff that this would be one of them.
