As it will be an issue to have enough salvage kits it will likely have to be an upgrade for that copper machine that salvages stuff. Give that one an upgrade that you can instantly salvage blues and greens. Yellow and up I would keep out of that.

You can though, just right click on the salvage kite and choose blues or blues and greens, and it does them all. Or am I miss understanding something?

Well you have to click each individual one to salvage or are you about to reveal a big secret to me that I wish I'd known years ago?

    Right
-click your salvage tool for an option to mass salvage certain rarities.

I think I'm going to log into the game and then fall off my chair in amazement lol. In my defense I've only played this game sporadically but I had no idea this could be done.

Prepare to be amazed, pretty much every stackable consume type item now has a consume/use/salvage/whaever ALL. No more clicking thousands of luck or that silverwastes sand.

Clearly there are people running the latest windows on both nvidia and ati cards that arent getting this so all the help the people that are getting the bug can give should help them fix this for us that much quicker. It only takes like 5 minutes to run the game adviser program they send you.

I created a ticket 2days ago -- they accessed it after 8hrs but didnt say a single word and its not been touched for the last 18hrs...

I mean, I know they are busy but a "hi, we're looking into it" would of been nice to show that they have seen my ticket. My experience of NCsoft CS has been rather poor at best throughout the years tbh.

The only positive I take away from the whole experience is that I maybe need to deal with them once in a blue moon.

As always with things like Customer Services. YMMV

hmm im surprised they didnt at least give you the same copy/paste looking response with the app link in it. They emphasized how important it was to get as many report files as possible in this thread here so thats odd.

    • In case you enabled it when asked for it after the last Win 10 update: DISable the option that prevents notifications from showing while you play fullscreen games (clicking the notification symbol in the lower right corner of your screen while having a game open should give you the option directly)
    • Go to the folder containing your GW2 executable, right-click the GW2 EXE file (presumably the 64-bit one for most people), go to properties -> compatibility, and check "disable fullscreen optimization"

I hope this helps some of you getting rid of the flashing to desktop (or at least improve it)...

Man I had high hopes this would fix it but the option was already checked so no good. Disabling the other new option recommended early in the thread shortened the flash to a second or 2 but this started today as soon as the windows 10 update completed.

I also have had the black flashes ever since building the new pc 6 months ago during gw2 loads. I guess those didnt bother me as much as this did but I hope they figure this out soon.

I was thinking of that thread. Because of it I hesitate to help someone fighting a mob, even if it’s one guy against a champion since for all I know he doesn’t want help.

I never let that stop me. It's foolish to try to test your build in open world, where everyone can chime in. I jump in whenever I want and if people complain about that, it's their problem. This game has a training golem set up to test builds and rotations, where no one will disturb you. Doing it in open world is just asking for problems. Expecting anything else in open world is just unrealistic.

Exactly, no to mention this mmo is set up to encourage the passing by random to help out. Even if that person is someone who will only ever do something if theres a benefit to themselves.

The whole testing my build on an open world mob is kind of silly since the golems in raid and fractal are completely free and easy to use and access for this exact reason. Maybe 3 years ago before golems and meters that was the only way for some to do it out of instanced content but then dissing a random that comes by and helps finish a kill, when everyone who tagged gets the same reward, cmon now. This everyone gets credit/rewards game design is what made the gw2 community like no other i had seen in over 10 years of playing mmo's almost exclusively. Now in the last few years some douchbagy elitists have started chipping away at the community and making certain instanced content toxic, but still nothing compared to those other popular mmo's.

  6. @"Gaile Gray.6029" said:Hey folks,

There were quite a few individual threads about FPS concerns. Whether you have a new PC or an old one, whether you just joined the game or have played for years and have noticed recent decreases in your FPS, it seems prudent to merge the threads into one and relay a request internally for someone to take a look. I know that merging sometimes somewhat "garbles" the conversation, but this is an important issue, and the breadth of reports in a single merged thread only helps to emphasize your concerns. So I hope you'll be ok with the merge, and of course if other players have issues with FPS, please add them here.

NOW... having said that, I believe that it would be super helpful for you to tell the team a few things:

    1. When did this issue first start?
    2. Has it been consistent across time, or has it become worse lately? Or has it come and gone (been intermittent) over time?
    3. What is your general geographical location?
    4. On what game world are you playing?

If you can edit your posts in this thread, or post a new one in this thread with more information, we'd really appreciate it!

    Thanks so much!

Having this looked at would be phenomenal!!!! This was such a bummer for me when I installed gw2 on my new machine and at first was blown away then the frames crashed so hard it was like a frame by frame video slideshow. Im talking areas where theres not another player in sight and just a few random mobs. Of course huge zergs frames would drop on nasa's rig but thats understandable. It has improved slightly over time but when I made my post about this I got countless people in the same boat. Every other game we play, almost all more demanding than gw2 under normal circumstances, run maxed with ease so it didnt make sense, still doesnt. Thanks and I hope someone does care to try and figure this one out.

  7. @SgtSarcasm.1653 said:Hi,

I've recently returned to GW2 after several years away, and I'm running it on a brand new desktop PC.The specs on my computer are: Intel Core i7-7700, GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, 16 GB DDR4 2666 MHz. I'm also running the game from an SSD.

I tested my FPS on Heaven Benchmark 4.0 on highest possible settings @ 2560x1440 and got ~80-100 fps on most scenes, occasionally dropping down to a steady 60-70 fps on some more intense scenes.

However, when running GW2 I sometimes randomly start getting really low fps (30-40), even personal story instances and fractals. I could understand it if I only got fps drops during massive world event bosses or similar situations, but a lot of the time during world event bosses I have a solid 80+ fps.

Any help with fixing this would be appreciated, as this is really frustrating.

I had identical problem, nearly identical machine except im running the i7 8700k. So even with the new cpu the problem exists. It's not our machines, most ppl experience this and ive simply gotten used to it. I use all max settings except character limit is one below max, if you have that maxed try bumping it down 1 notch but unless you are lagging completely out or freezing every 10 minutes id advise to just accept it and hope for a fix like the rest of us with very high end rigs and ok performance on this game only.

  8. So by next release do they mean wintersday? Also for those of us that picked up shipping orders and it's no longer there, what will happen when we log on after fix? Will we need to go pick it up again assuming it has reappeared or will it be credited in the collection achivement as already picked up?

  9. @"Neil Holmes.8507" said:Every time win 10 updates my drivers I re-install the one I was using and run directx_Jun2010_redist because I find its all about the dx9 compatibility. I'm not clever enough to explain why / how this works but works for me every time and I have seen all the issues listed above. Hope this helps someone

So when you say "the one I was using" what exactly are you talking about? Which driver?

  10. @"Arrow.4619" said:Based on a recommendation that its DirectX related, and that Microsoft had actually released a patch to fix problems with DX9 that a previous patch has caused https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4051963/windows-10-update-kb4051963, I ran Windows update and updated to OS Build 162998.98. I guess if I don't comment again on this issue then you can assume this fixed the freezing crash problem.

Actually it would be super helpful to give quick shout back after a good session when you know it would have surely frozen to let the many ppl know experiencing this issue that something did indeed work for you. Ive tried every suggestion posted so far and will rersearch this now.

  11. This started for me about a week to 10 days ago but only once every few days. Same type of crash, music and game sounds still play, no way to alt tab to desktop and must user log out to reset client. As of last night its happening every 10-15 minutes no matter what zone im in or how populated my surroundings are. This has made this game unplayable. Im not even contemplating crafting legendaries or putting any real time or money investments into this game if it remains in this ridiculous state. My rig isnt even a month old, i7 8700k 16g 3200 ram gtx 1080ti. Needless to say it not the rig, this build could run 10 instances of gw2 in 4k at high fps. It's the client in my humble uneducated opinion. Ive tried now changing the setting recommended in this thread, putting ssd to 0, quick start off, and the 2 compatibility options mentioned on page 1. Im about to start [laying now so we shall see if those help. Most, but not all of mine occur when I first mount up on raptor or griffin and im mid lunge or flight on first spacebar press. Also the theory of letting it sit will eventually rebound wont work, It happened at tequatl with 9 minutes left, I just let it sit for 10 minutes frozen and reset client and had rewards from the kill when i relogged, so the game has you still in the fight while frozen for at least 10 minutes.
