There's a new Twitter post regarding this:

This message was posted in error and contains outdated information. The sale is in effect but the maximum bag slot increase will go into effect on December 13, and we will repeat the sale then. We apologize for the confusion.

This thread is about the Shared Inventory slot tho, not the bag expansion. I just bought 1 and that's it, seems you can only buy 1 at the discounted price.  This seems very misleading as there was no mention on any sale limits on any of their communications.

Anything against the rules set such as in ToS are illegal. Illegal does not just pertain to law and statutes of a country.

A definition - Contrary to or forbidden by official rules, regulations, etc.: Example: in various sports, it is illegal to hold onto an opponent during the game.

Only Mirriam-Webster has a definition that includes a use case not attached to law.  Oxford, dictionary.com, Cambridge, Collins all define it as, and I paraphrase "not allowed by law".  I get what you mean anyway.  Illegal has a very different meaning for many people, being strictly tied to laws.

GW2 is single threaded as I understand it. As such, consider the speed of the single thread the game is using, and if there are other processes being used on it as well.

In broader terms, minimize the background apps and programs that are running concurrently, consider debloating your OS, and generally optimizing the environment for GW2 such as installing GW2 and OS on different SSDs.

    Not since the DX11 update.

I got the new PC to play GW2, this is so infuriating. >.>

Just out of curiosity, is your GPU using a vertical mount/using a PCIE riser?  Setting BIOS to PCIE 4 while using a PCIE 3 riser is a leading cause of crashes for vertically mounted GPUs.

    Update

It is crashing a LOT less frequently after the multi step fix, but still crashing sometimes. Specially during Dragonstorm. Had 2 regular crashes and a 3rd one that reset the PC

I have been able to do a few world boss with no issue and Mordremoth Map a few times without issue, but had 2 during Mad King Says. Hard to tell what causes it, all I know is it WILL CRASH during Dragonstorm. Was able to get reward because since is a brand new modern PC it returns fast to the game. But OMG it trully ruins the experience.

    Gw2´s engie is pretty old.

It wont even use all of your available CPU cores....

The issue is the gw2 engine itself and not related to your Hardware. Your Hardware is more than capable to run gw2.

This is an issue in any and all game engines.  You cannot have a game run on 8 cores that will perform equally as well on 4 core machines.  If the 8 core machine has enough to process to make 8 cores worth it, it will in turn cripple anything on less than 8 cores.  Game processing doesn't go away just cos you have less powerful components, they still have to be processed.  Having a game optimized for high core counts would mean anything less than that will have a bad experience.

I do think the IBS was a no win situation. They originally planned to release IBS as a replacement for an expansion. Looking at specifically how they did Drizzlewood coast after the decission was made to do it differently, I can see the potential this plan had. However, it hit with very strong backfire by the general public and they had to redraw the roadmap to include an expansion. This costed way too much of the quality of the IBS living world being unsattisfying as it is now. If they didn't change course, the outcry would have been the same and even now people complained a lot bout the release path towards EoD. So it was never good enough.

What is/was wrong with IBS?  I haven't gotten there yet but have finished HoT, PoF, LWS 1 (up till what is available), LWS 2 and almost done with LWS3 so IBS isn't that far away for me right now.  What's wrong with it that people don't like it?

PSA: DX11 + Reshade + Arcdps + Shadowplay is now all compatible.

    Preparation process
-1.) Open your GW2 directory, delete everythingexcept for GW2.exe and GW2.dat
( Remember to save your current 'reshade-shaders' folder and any presets.ini you have any already)
0.) Select DX11 in graphics options in GW2 then exit the game.
    ---------
    Installation process:
    1.) Install Reshade
a.) if you have any older/legacy effects saved and your reshade presets, put them in the the directory after installing.
2.) Start game, build shader cache, select preset.

    3.) Arcdps
a.) Download DX11 version from site.
b.) Place it on the main directory (next to Gw2/Gw2-64 executable). DO NOT PLACE IN BIN64

Sometimes antivirus/antimalware software interferes with stuff, try shutting it down while you install and test this. I only use Windows Defender, it doesn't cause any problems at all.

    Thanks, this sequence worked!

What did they plan? I mean, they probably planned for people to actually play through the expansions they bought? 😛

Also added this while you were apparently already responding: That said, they also said they might add different triggers in the future, so who knows what it will be.

From what I've read from people in Map Chat, the plan was to open mounts for all Core and above accounts without needing PoF.  Some weren't sure if that was already implemented but were adamant that was ANet's stated plans.  Either way, it's still weird for a F2P account to have 10 hours of mount access while Core players who bought the game don't get a mount, nor the courtesy trial hahaha.

Mount unlock is account-wide, not character bound. Getting to lvl 10 -or starting pof story- doesn't really seem like a problem to me at all.

Yes but the problem is it isn't mentioned anywhere, you're left to assume what ANet intended to do with the mount unlock for legacy accounts.  Either way, unable to test that anymore since I already have the mounts.

Were you playing on a lvl 80 character this whole time? Because from what they said they've set it to unlcok every 10 levels. So if you already were lvl 80, there probably wasn't anything to trigger the unlock.

Yes, I only really ever had 1 character and it's been 80 since 2012.  My other character was a lvl 1-2 banker.  If having to level up is a trigger they implemented to old accounts, that seems incredibly short sighted to expect people not to play their original toons.

    Hi,

So the last thing i remember they add into the game was Fractals and that was pretty cool. I think it was like 8 to 10 years ago. I had a level 80 engi doing dungeons and world stuff, was a very enjoyable time. Lots of fun memories of this game.

Wanted to come back as somewhat of a casual. Played like 4 hours today, got to level 20, all the first map cleared with all the points of interest. Was great. I love the combat and map in this game.
Went into the city and got completely overwhelmed.
The amount of merchants and their various items and so many different currencies, giant flaming player characters and lots of crazy mounts.

My question - Can I really get a casual experience out of this game? One that when I reach 80 and over I'll just pick what I'm going to do and just focus on that. I know it's a weird question but it just seems like there's soo much more content and I'm not sure how much of that is redundant or parallel to other forms of farming, just cosmetic and stuff.

I liked the PvE alot and used to have a blast in PvP too.

Hi fellow 10-year-comebacker, just take your time.  There is no sub you have to FOMO about.  Relearn the systems slowly.  I myself just came back last week.

Nope, the wording is accounts with an expansion unlocked 😄 So if OP has an old account with just HoT unlocked, I'd see it as some edge-case since it would mean they unlocked expansion, even though that expansion isn't related to the mounts. But that's not the case here.

This isn't true either.  I started in 2012, quit, then I bought HoT in 2018, never finished it, started playing again last week.  Bought the Ultimate Collection to get the mount but I couldn't use it till I did the first chapter of PoF to unlock the base Raptor before I could use the mount I got from the UC.

Have it turned off and using a custom Reshade profile to enhance colors/outlines/effects of the game, making the game look SO much better.

Here, have some LA screenshots to compare with and without my custom Reshade Profile
    Without Reshade (No Postprocessing)

    With Reshade

Unfortunately I have not been able to find a way to run both Reshade and ArcDPS at the same time so Reshade will have to go for now.

I'm trying to play Guild Wars on my new Dell XPS 15 laptop. It has a RTX 3050Ti and 11th gen i7-11800H @ 2.3GHz.

I've set the Dell Power Management setting to Ultra Performance and made sure Guild Wars is running on the nvidia GPU.

However I average about 25 FPS in game on the absolute lowest settings, eventhough CPU and GPU usage is only at about 30%.

Any tips on how to resolve this issue?

What are your temps like when you're experiencing these low FPS?  Is it constant right from the start of the game or does it gradually get worse?

Thank you for the feedback. Since I got two free character boosts, I did the natural thing and looked up builds for different content, and that led me to needing to buy different armor then what the boosts gave me. Also the boosts didn't give out max slot bags, and in a mmo from my experience it's important to have as much inventory as you can. That is why I used the currency conversion and was trying to buy items off the Trading Post, which led to my great frustration that I was locked out of these features.

Doing the stories give you 20 slot bags already, quite a few of them.  Save your gold for more important things.  You're not gonna be carrying that much crap around TBH.

Since it is Only doing it with GW2 I did steps 4-5-6. After deleting the entire folder and re-installing the full game fresh from installer.

    Lets see how it goes.

It could very well also be RAM configs.  All the most recent DDR4 platforms only officially support up to 3200MHz DDR4, and although the chances are very high you can run at 3600MHz you are only guaranteed 3200MHz.  Check Task Manager to see what speeds your RAM (Memory) is running at.
