Confirming, the cauldron is working. 🙂
-
i just tried it on a new avatar, which turns toward the cauldron, but nothing else happens 😞
-
-
well it doesn't
Seems to be working again, guess i found a rare case scenario where it breaks.
I'll try to take notes whenever i stumble upon the case again.

It's working fine with Proton 7.0-6

All hail Nemecyst 😄

Doesn't the -dx9 switch still work?
It doesn't anymore, for me.
-
Check your keybinds in the options, last update most likely screwed it up.
-
They did it, now dx11 is the default mode. 🤬
Can someone please provide me with an executable command to allow me to force the game to run dx9 mode ?
The game was crashing (on my computer) in dx11 mode before it became default, and it it certainly still crashes after.
i cannot play anymore and it actually got worse, as now it crashes before displaying the game launcher.
Or is there a config file that i could "notepad" to tick that dx9 box without running the game ?

Why, why would you change the keybinds of the NOT new players ?
Why not just make those the default settings so that any new player can enjoy those without having the old players have a headache figuring which keybinds went off.
There's a reason i changed the keybinds all the way across to the opposite side of the keyboard.
Just why ? What's the point for me to change keybinds if it's to have no reliable way to keep it changed ?
My left hand is malformed and the last thing i need is for you to change the keybinds back to default unuseable by me US keyboard layout.
This is beyond irritating.

Turns out that the anvil buff isn't notice-able on my tanky build.
So it won't make a difference if i forget to renew it.
That's good i guess ?

The fact the contrast options were added is a step in the right direction. However, the way it was implemented might need some work (which I am aware will have quite a low priority right now...)
I'd suggest to rework the cursor in a way that:
- The tip of the pointer actually is, well, the tip of the pointer (accuracy)
- People can choose outline thickness AND color (if a color picker is too much, maybe just from a small preselection of colors, including magenta and similarly visible ones)
- Let people choose whether or not they additionally want the circle around the pointer (same color as chosen for the border of the pointer)
- Maybe even add an option to only have a crosshair or dot with the circle around it (also with color picker)?
- And please make the mouse pointer/crosshair/dot be centered in the circle
Also, adding an option to not have the mouse pointer disappear when turning the camera could help.
Even the "Use Show Ally Names to find Mouse Cursor" option does not work, while the camera is being turned using the right mouse button. -> I'm not sure if that's just me, but I go full camera helicopter mode during active gameplay (raids and the like), so an option like this would be really useful to me.
i approve all of this. Especially the idea of an option to prevent the pointer from disappearing.

deleted my addons then:
part 1: first 4 attempts.... game crashed before the character screen came up
part 2: next few attempts... got an error message from just correctly entering my password... no authentication code, just error message.
part 3: did -repair, fixed part 2
EDIT 1:
part4 : -dx9 it and disable dx11 renderer beta
part 5: -dx11
does part 5 crash the game or actually work ?
part5 also crashes for me.
i tried with dxvk, still crashes.

-dx9 on the command line allowed me in, and was able to disable directx11
you're a life saver, thank you

But is it really starting in 21 of september ? 22 is nearing (7:20 hours left here). There it is. i cannot start the game anymore. is there an easy way to revert the change ? Starting the game with
Gw2-64.exe -dx9
saved my "soul".
i attempted it with dxvk, no luck, so i'm stuck continuing with dx9 for now.

Read the post here in case some are too busy to look for it and many don't tweet or read tweets.
According to your post, they picked dx11 instead of dx12(or vulkan) so that gw2 can continue to support windows vista which is not supported by microsoft since 11th of april 2017.
While i'm angry about that, i guess there exists players who are still using windows vista (haven't met any in game yet i believe).
It's still a huge upgrade from dx9 and i'm happy in advance.
As a user of Linux (and many games optimised for dx11), i expect a huge improvement for gw2 from that upgrade.

i encountered the same problem today.
Not finding any workaround anywhere, i logged out.
i will re-attempt tomorrow, hopefully this bug might be random.
it worked today, i don't know what i did different
-
Sorry for necroing the topic, but the bug happened to me today.
Doing the story first steps unlocked the "Observation Deck Waypoint".
i went to Jahai Bluffs to do something else.
Then i wanted to continue the story.
But the previously mentioned waypoint won't show and its area shows as unexplored.
i had to use a tp to Friend on another waypoint of the map to work around the issue.
Funny thing, if i open the map, it says i have unlocked 2/4 waypoints now.
But the first is actually still not available to me.
Now we're nearing year 2022, i would have expected such old bugs to have been fixed by now.
i'm disappointed.

Well for me the bug appeared with 6.2 staging.i didn't try 5.19 to 6.0rc4 (and of course won't).
-
i'm posting that comment just in case someone else would have the same problem.Vox on the french forum figured it out for me.I was using a recently published version of WINE (6.3) which is bugged. He suggested me to use 5.7 which i didn't find, so i used 5.0 instead which seems to work flawlessly so far.
-
After days of restarting, it seems to be working again.i still don't know what caused this, but it was on my side.Or not, as everything else went back in work order, i presumed the game had to be fixed with the rest but nope, i still cannot login.i still believe the problem is on my side.
