  1. As stated on that page, they're only supposed to reset if complete, with partial hearts carrying over to the next day:

"The repeatable Renown Hearts reset their progress each day, if completed, on server reset, enabling players to earn the rewards for completing them again. However, they will not reset progress if not completed, nor will they reset progress towards map completion at server reset."

However, what seems to actually happen is when a complete heart resets, any partial hearts in the same map get reset at the same time.

    Those odds don’t add up

They don't need to because they're not referring to the same thing.

Common refers to the 3rd & 4th slots - they will always contain a common item.

Uncommon, rare, and super-rare refer to the item in the 5th slot, with the remaining ~95% being no 5th slot at all.

  3. There is a return to season 2 event coming up later this month:

Last time they did an event like this (in 2021), it unlocked the season for anyone who logged in during the event.  I don't know if that's going to happen again this time, but it's possible.

There may well be "return to" events for the other seasons in future.  If you're in no hurry to get the seasons, they may well come along for free if you wait.

  4. The veteran and champion are part of two separate events that occur in the same location as part of the same chain, rather than due to player numbers and scaling.

The first event in the chain has a veteran toxic alchemist:

It's followed by a second event (assuming the first succeeds, if it fails, there's an extra event in between), which has the champion toxic alchemist that I believe you need for the Twilight collection:

Might be possible that the min amount of matches required to appear in the top list increased to maybe 90 or so. (Would have needed someone to check before the season ended a few minutes. Not sure how often the min match requirement updates.) / Edit: Nevermind. That probably is not the case. At the top there is someone with less matches. The 243, 244th ranked.

I thought the same at first, but from the dates shown, it's a 2-week league, so should only need 30 matches to appear on the leaderboard.

  6. Edge of the Mists shouldn't ever be locked due to being full, as it's an overflow map that should always be available even when the four maps from your normal match-up are full.

How are you trying to get there?   If the WvW panel isn't working, maybe try the asura gate in Lions Arch (which should be marked with the green star when you're at that story step)?

The game will do that for you.

You start with the core story, then the game will automatically continue and start season 1 etc.

Not necessarily - automatically starting the next story has some bugs and has been known to sometimes start the latest story instead of the next.  It's always worth checking in the story journal that it's on the right one.  For example, last time I completed chapter 15 of EoD, it skipped chapters 16-18 and went straight to SotO.

  8. The chronological order is:

    1. Personal story
    2. Living story season 1
    3. Living story season 2
    4. Heart of Thorns
    5. Living story season 3
    6. Path of Fire
    7. Living story season 4
    8. Icebrood Saga
    9. End of Dragons
    10. Secrets of the Obscure

The weaponmaster training unlocks fairly early in SotO (I think during chapter 3 of that story), so you could play through that far, then go back to the start.

As for the advised order, it depends what you want.  Playing out of order, you'll get some spoilers for other stories, but playing out of order would let you unlock some things early - HoT for gliding, PoF for most mounts, season 4 for beetle and skyscale mounts, EoD for the jade bot, and SotO for weaponmaster and alternate way to get skyscale.  If you don't mind story  spoilers and are more interested in features, it's up to you if you want to play out of order.

  9. All you really need to do for map completion on a new character is hero points and way points.  There's over 400 more hero points available than can be spent, so you don't need to do them all, and way points, you could just pick the ones you're likely to use regularly.  The rest of map completion is only if you want to do it, or want the rewards (e.g. for crafting legendaries).

There's no need to repeat story, unless you want the rewards.  I'd recommend at least doing the level 10 personal story for a black lion key as it's fairly quick.  You might also want to take the End of Dragons story as far as The Scenic Route to get a jade bot core for free, but those can also be bought or crafted if you don't want to do the story.

  10. If you look in the achievements in the hero panel, you can see which achievements award mastery points as they are marked with the mastery icon.  It doesn't just show against individual achievement, the icon will show against a whole section if there are any achievements that award mastery points still available in that section.

For the open world mastery points, under each expansion, there's a section in the achievements called Mastery Insights.  These achievements show the open world masteries, and where in the map they can be found.

  11. You've confused two features.

The weapon master training allows you to use elite spec weapons without having the elite spec equiped.  So for elementalist that gives you sword, hammer, and warhorn.

Coming in the next month or two is the expanded weapon proficiency, which adds a new weapon to each class.  This is what will give elementalist pistols.

I am confused. The Balthazar fight is before the ledge and does not require canyon jumping. The bit after does

The instance begins when you enter Desert Highlands. You do some bits, then you have to ascend a hill and jump a couple of small gaps. At the top will be a couple of boss fights incl Balthazar. The raptor long jump is never required

After that, you leave the instance and will need to collect crystals and get the springer as a sep part of the story. That’s when you need the long jump, but it’s after the Balthazar fight

So,  can you clarify where you are at?

There's a couple of jumps on the ascent that fit the OPs description, immediately north from marker for the Cavalier Parcel Express Run adventure.  They certainly need a mount to get across, although having long-since trained canyon jumping, I can't tell if they're too long for a basic raptor jump.

The official wiki, is as good as a GW2 for dummies. As you can see from other posts, there are a few wiki pages linked. In my opinion GW2 has one of the best, most comprehensive, and well curated wikis of any game I have ever played. If you're ever stuck, searching for the relevant quest, item, NPC, event, skill, etc. on the wiki will often answer your question. You can of course still come to the forum, but I can highly recommend having the wiki up on a second monitor while playing.

As the OP is new, it's probably worth mentioning that you can open the wiki from in game using in the chat window.  Just type /wiki followed by a subject you want to search for, and it'll open the wiki in your browser.

  14. You can do the instance with someone else who can make the jump.  If they're the instance owner they'll be able to progress the story which I think will teleport all party members past that jump as the instance area shrinks to just the top of the hill, or if you go with a mesmer they should be able to use a portal to get you past.

  15. One thing to bear in mind is that since the armory was added, when you bind Eternity, you'll still have Twilight and Sunrise unlocked in armory to use separately, so you no longer have to sacrifice a sword to make it.  In fact, you'll gain a third sword (not that you can equip three at once).

If you already have both Twilight and Sunrise, the cost to upgrade to Eternity is so small that it's probably worth doing regardless, and you'll still be able to go back to the separate swords later if you prefer.
