  1. there are a few things you can do here: set character model limit (graphic settings) to lowest. this will only render the people in your party/squad members as base models. you wont see anyone else except their name tags. to further improve this you can leave the party/squad once you're in the right instance to not render those as well. lastly i also noticed that name tag also has quite some impact on your fps. so if you go back to general options and disable "show all player names" as well, you definitely should see some improvements.

bonus meme: UI also effects your frames. so if you can disable elements if not all of it, you will have a smoother playtime.

  2. I have been noticing that my character stays tilted when im doing.. anything. This did occure very rarely. But for some reason its happening a lot more lately. And with that actually starts bothering me. Searching through the forums i see some other people had same issues. But never really has been shed light on from Anet's side. So im hoping this come to attention (again). The screenshot displays exactly what i mean. And no it hasnt been editted. This is a straightup screenshot from the game

  3. @"Leonidrex.5649" said:it doesnt matter that chrono can give quickness + alacrity, since it CANT give might, so you need another player to give 25 might to other players anyways so you end up with 2 supports, and for 2 support its just better to play FB + rene so that you dont have to deal with stupid wells.

To clarify / go on this a little more: You need 2 supports regardless. Either you go with Chrono & Druid OR Q(H)FB & Renegade. In both cases you can push as offensive as you can based on how well the party performs. The reason why FB/Ren combo works better in fracs is related to how wells function on chrono. These are timegated. So the party needs to stand in it for a fixed amount of seconds in order for them to get their boons. This is inefficient in an environment as fractals because you have to move all over the place. Not to mention the instabilities. Some of these make it rather impossible to do in the first place. As where fb/ren comp basically is instantly aoe boon "spam". And then there is also the history of Signet of Inspiration history. But we dont talk about that.

  4. You'll do just fine. Well.. in nearly every encounter. There are a few exceptions here and there. I self have been tanking alot as a heal & quick firebrand in raids. It mostly comes down to just knowing the mechanics (and strats) of tanking. But again, there a few exceptions. A rule of thumb: Any encounter where you need to "survive" a single hit key skill, you can tank. But if its a channeling attack, you may struggle.

To give you a better idea, ill give you an example:

    • Deimo's Mind Crush. This is the attack that can not be evaded, so players go into blue bubble. Tank mitigates damage by blocking (or aegis). This is a single attack and can be easily be dealth with.
    • Xera's Cerebral Slash. Very much like mesmer's blurred frenzy, this is a channeling skill, doing high damage over time. You may struggle or even fail tanking this boss because to tank as firebrand you rely on skills or boons that only mitigate a single hit. Or... have yet another competent healer in subparty to heal you through. Scourge?
  5. @tinyasian.8941 said:What do you play now?Support Chrono is no longer viable in raids?

Thief mainly. i like the evasive/stealthy playstyle. I guess that's why liked mirage as well since that kinda comes close to how thief is. But then again mirage relies heavily on torment and confusion which is very niche in pve. So naturally i went (back to) thief. It does make me wonder what i saw in chrono in the first place, now i think about it in all honesty....

As for raid viability. Chrono still remains good in raids. But that is essentially the only place i would use it. IF i where to play that is... And even than there is the fb/ren comp that proofs to work better in some if not most encounters. All other places support chrono is either lack luster or just no longer effective at all. And then there is the dps chrono. Which is like a minion build (heavy reliant on clones and phantasms). But thats something i do not enjoy.

  6. Seems like overall mesmer takes the crown here. I too am no exception. I enjoyed the class at core, even tho it wasnt my main back then. Chronomancer really stood out for me from the very beginning, to a point where i was playing it exclusively. Till mid last year where Anet started nerfing it. The SoI going from boonshare to extending made the drop for me. Since then i was playing Mirage. Which was nice but it wasnt on the level of chrono, not to mention this spec is mostly niche. So it didnt take long before i went to a different class/spec entirely. And with the latest balance patch, mirage has only one dodge in pvp/wvw (which may occur in pve in future as well). i dont even want to look back.

Best part: during my "spree" in chrono/mirage. I went for full legendary equipment's. Duo to how versatile mesmer is/was. So now it just sits there collecting dust since i have no real use for it anymore. Not to mention build templates added another step on top of that.

aka tldr: rip ~6k hours and a shitload of investment i have put into mesmer.

  7. Negative. All though your map needs to have the meta event completed (in order to pass through the ice walls. The raven gate themselves are not bound to it. Outside the event time that is. With that being said, i was able to use them a few times when the event wasnt up, while other times i was not able to use the gates at all.

  8. Im happy to say d/p sees some daylight again. But im really questioning its effectiveness. Sure its a "hit&run" build, which plays differently compared to sword/x. But is it better? Looking at that footage, the best you can do (as in what usually happens) is destroy about 40/50%'ish from your target health with assassin signet stealth backstab combo. Yes again i am aware that its a +1'er. But duo to that very reason i feel like sword/pistol is a lot more consistent. Which generally works better? Just my hunch...

  9. @"Rasimir.6239" said:And then there is the part that doesnt know jackshit, and complains about the way other people like to play. FYI: Bounties dont require any masteries at all.

Guild bounties has been a thing since core tyria and everyone in a guild can do them.PoF Bounties are essentially like mini worldbosses, all you MAY need for it is to wait for the timer.Treasure hunting kits doesnt even involve a mob let alone a "boss". Like where did it even come from? It just shows a location for a chest with shitty loot.

Again NON of these require you masteries. Map completion or rather having waypoints could be convenient. Or mounts in that regard. But they are not required to do them.

  10. @jgeezz.7832 said:Ok on my deadeye build i go stealth when i dodge, so when you say a channeling skill so if you are saying that i need to dodge to avoid damage when you are countering a channeling skill, this is what i am doing and the damage is following me when i stealth.Exactly! again rapid fire is a channeling skill (among many others). You can use your dodge to go into stealth. But remember you'll only avoid damage during that evade frame. The time of a ranger casting rapid fire is longer then your dodge moment. Which again is why you will continue getting damage after your dodge from that attack despite being in stealth. So essentially you want to double dodge to avoid this particular attack, or first bait/interrupt/reflect it BEFORE going into stealth.

  11. @jgeezz.7832 said:Some additional info: rapid fire (and many other skills) is a channeling skill. so If your foe casts this right BEFORE you go into stealth, he/she will continue hitting you during the period of the of the skill usage. Which is why you need to dodge despite going into stealth. (Although one will argue that it's an very telegraphic skill which is very easy to avoid. And in most cases you would bait it before engaging in the first place)

  12. Well... Technically it is possible to do the entire thing on your own. But it just takes so much time and effort. Essentially not worth doing it alone. But if you still insist.

. As for upgrading it, i'd suggest you focus on easy / medium guild missions to get the currency. Trek especially. (also start farming silverwastes shovels).

Out of experiance from a very small guild. I would like to give you some tips in regarding to order of upgrades to process the hall:

    • You may want to pre-level up scribing first. You're definitely going to need this. Doing this first before starting a hall will give you a better time during the process as you wont need to worry about levelling up, since its locked behind guild level also. There are guilds that allow you to do this in their guild(hall).
    • Prioritize mining aetherium capacity upgrades. This will increase your aetherium capacity. You need this for upgrades in your hall.
    • Ignore mining rate. As a solo guild your progression will go really slow anyway. By the time you have enough favor, the aetherium will be capped already.
    • You can use workshop upgrades as your main focus to progress the hall (recommended). This is basically what most people want and go for. Not to mention nodes are nice and give some mats back. An investment. But pays out in the long run.
    • There will be times where you cant progress in a certain area. Say Workshop for example. In these moments you can pick small upgrades from other areas to level up the hall. Tavern, guild banners is a nice way of doing this. Once you pass the level, you can/should continue on the main (mining/workshop) focus.

Other then that, i REALLY would recommend you to have at least few people in your guild. Being 3 / 4 people is enough, but it really speeds up the favor gain as you can engage more guild missions weekly. Otherwise you'd have to wait for rng easy/medium trek and such. Which is annoying. And that's kind of it. Good luck with the hall ;)

  13. @"maddoctor.2738" said:Im not sure if that is necessarily a bad idea tbh. I mean the golden "checkpoint" only gives you a tiny bit of extra loot anyway. I can totally see it happen where this mechanic is getting used more often. The average player will just go for the kill, as where the more serious people will try reaching gold. I actually think raids would be great place for this mechanic

@NorthernRedStar.3054 said:Also @OP your DPS rotations are incorrect.I am aware. As i mentioned in my first post. This was literally my/our first entry. I was more focused on trying to pay attention on what Fraenir is doing then on my rotation. As i was expecting him to be different as oppose to when we encounter him in story.
