  1. I hated this adventure. Not because I have difficulty playing the game, but because my ping means sometimes the jumps and boosts break and getting to the end in time was luck more than anything.

It's unlikely they'll change it, but you do only need Silver for the achievement. And It just takes practise knowing where to jump and whatnot.

It might be worthwhile changing your keybinds so you can more easily access the keys you need. Not sure if that would help.

  2. A general bit of advice when it comes to learning how to counter something (or if something is perceived as overpowered, whether it actually is or isn't) is to try it yourself. It doesn't really answer the OP, but I play against stealth much better ever since playing a Deadeye in WvW and even playing a little on Mirage (in PvE, mind you). You know what works, what doesn't, where you (as the stealth player) can be pressured and where your opportunities lie. When you experience that side of the fight, you're much better prepared to take on a stealth user, if that's the necessary objective.

GW1: Prophecies was the best story I experienced in any game by far. With all the plot twists but most of all, the entire game felt like a journey.

And the truth is, a journey like that is not possible anymore. GW1 was a massive game and because the open world was instanced, you could truly feel alone with just your party or henchmen. Reaching the Shiverpeaks. Taking the Ascalonian refugees over the shiverpeaks. Meeting the dwarves there. Joining the White Mantle and getting betrayed by them. Heading far into the jungle to witness the bloodstone rituals. Learning the secrets of the desert and gaining personal growth there. Journeying to the Far Shiverpeaks to take on the Mursaat and finally the apex on the magnificent Ring of Fire Island chain.

It's a journey like the stories of Tolkien, where the adventurer develops along the way. With GW2, there is no journey as we can just conveniently hop on our skyscales and fly anywhere. Don't get me wrong, I love my mounts. But having this convenience has some serious drawbacks. It's like the hobbits flying to mount doom on the Eagles and dropping the ring in the fire.

    Agreed.

I think GW2 loses a lot of the journey aspect because you start with the "world-ending" disaster of the dragons (which follows on from GW: EotN). I enjoyed some plot twists here and there but GW2 didn't really feel like journeying into the unknown sometimes - we mostly knew we were going to have to take on Zhaitan (and the other dragons) at some point. GW1 the destination changes constantly because you are thrust into a deeper world every step of the way.

As an aside, I also preferred not being the centre of attention in GW1. It meant roleplaying in the story had more value as I wasn't made what to say or told how to react (e.g. LW3 with Braham raging against the commander would have been a lot more tolerable for me if I was just a hero tagging along and not being a pivotal main character). Who I was as a character wasn't dictated by the writers, which was great.

OP should be playing GW1, no jumping, missions and end game content mostly resemble Forging Steel.

That's exactly what I thought when reading the post. Grab some heroes and take on DoA or UW or something...

How could that example be FOMO?

    *snip*

(but it leaves the impression that other achievements could also be removed when ever it is possible without any indication from ArenaNet which would be a reason to call it FOMO).

    Answered your own question.

The WV isn't FOMO unless you're a diehard completionist, then my example is 100% relevant because of what you said in the above quote.

But that doesn't bother me any more. Once life got in the way and I had to take a break from GW2, it was actually quite freeing. Not worth stressing that much over a game, otherwise it's just not fun anymore. I like the game, but that's what it is - a game.

  6. Uninstall? Nah, but I certainly have been uninspired since EoD to log in regularly... maybe at all...

"We hear you (but don't care)" sums it up perfectly.

I'll probably come back to finish my Gen 1 legendary weapons, but buying the new stuff? Nah.

  7. It becomes available when you are kneeling inside the smoke barrier you create.

From the wiki link you posted in the Notes section:

    • This skill is only available when kneeling within the smoke field created by Sniper's Cover.

In other words, create the smoke barrier on yourself, then it should be available to use.

My personal (and the one of my best friend, who mains ranger for many years now but unfortunately is not a great forum-goer) would be an elite spec that uses the scepter as a whip.

Like having a green, thorny, magical vine extend from the scepter, which is used to flay enemies at medium range.

As utility skills, wells could get used to give ranged AoE abilities, but this skill type seems a bit overused already. My friend oftenly requested to get access to venoms, since these make sense for ranger thematically (especially since venoms on thief are all based on Tyrian animals, something ranger sits at the source of). To make it thematically different from the thief venoms, maybe a ranger could use poisons taken from plants instead, which would also feed into the thematic of the scepter/whip with the vine animation.

Only problem I see with venoms is that the gameplay mechanic seems a bit similar like the stance share from soulbeast already, so it would need a pretty good twist to make it different.

Now just spitballing ideas here: What if ranger venoms wouldn't put all stacks of the venom buff in a PBAoE around the ranger, but instead they are ground targeted and the ranger grows a plant at the selected area, which then will pulse an effect around it which affects enemies and allies? One plant, for example, could pulse conditions onto enemies around it and at the same time pulse stacks of the venom to your allies.

I think this is a great idea. It's got theme and unique functionality.

Edit: also got some serious Usopp vibes going. This spec will be unbeatable and unnerfable!
