  1. Ever since a few days ago, my game has been crashing constantly. At least once every hour. Doesn't matter where. New or old content. The same crash. Over and over.
Today finally broke me to the point where I am considering the game to be in an unplayable state. I crashed 7 times during the skywatch meta event.
    So far I have tried:

    • -repair
    • Updating video drivers
    • Reverting video drivers
    • Clearing gw2 cache from temp
    • Clean installing both video drivers and a complete uninstall and reinstall of gw2

Nothing has worked. And if today is any indicator, its actually gotten worse. If anyone can look at this crash log and give me a clue as to what the hell is going on, and how I can fix it, it would be a huge help. I have about 10 more of these, but I stopped after a while, because they were all the same.

I would love this. Maybe call it the Mystic Library. They could make it a craftable item too - send the commander on an adventure across all these maps to breathe new life in to them.

This would be cool, but I have a feeling if there ever do it, it will be in a way that takes as little development time as possible. Likely just purchased through an NPC.

  3. Losing quite a bit of value in my shared slots when half of them are being taken up by portal scrolls. And if we are going to be getting a new expansion every year now, with a new main hub and portal scroll, its going to have to be done eventually. Time to condense!

  4. If you don't know what I am talking about, its the fact that mounts, regardless of how many abilities they have, only have 2 bind-able ability keys. The rest function based off your player weapon bindings. If you are a player who uses unique bindings in combination with your mouse buttons, you might find this causes hellish conflicts between the skills that you can bind and the ones that are dictated by weapon bindings, rendering half your mount skills un-usable without physically clicking the icon with your mouse. Not only that, but mount abilities functions aren't even all that consistent across the mounts that do have the same number of skills.

Please. Find somewhere in the schedule to un-scuff mount keybinding customization. I beg you.
Best mounts in the MMO genre, but worst bindings for them of any genre...

I'm just sitting here with my normal 1-5 weapon skills, chaos based utility skills, and custom rebound mount skills wondering wtf is going on here.

If you are genuinely wondering, Mounts have 2 skill keybindings. Mounts with more than 2 skills default to weapon skill keybindings. If you use overly customized keybindings for class/weapon abilities, it causes conflicts that can result in mount skills that dont work without having to manually click them.

For example. I use [Num 1], [Num 2], [Num 3], Ctrl+[Num 2], Ctrl+[Num 3] for my weapon skills. These are all bound to my mouse. This lets me put every single other combat related hotkey within one key of my movement keys.

For a reason I honestly cant tell you, this makes the keybinding for the third ability on any mount/vehicle non-functioning. I have to manually click them with my cursor to use them. So I have to choose between having keybindings I want or fully functioning mount/vehicle bindings.

Up until now, this only effected me on warclaw, the jadebot, and the char tank in Forging Steel, so I sucked it up. However, now that skyscale is getting more abilities and is going to seemingly have a bigger role in combat, its going to be more annoying than ever that the mount binding functionality and customization is so jank. So I am really hoping they do another pass on it to improve it.

  6. Anyone who uses non-standard/unique keybindings for their weapon skills knows how absolutely scuffed hotkeys are for mounts with more than the 2-3 abilities. You can end up with mount skills that just dont function at all with their hotkeys.

Clean them up. Give them a full 5 keybindings so they cant conflict with weapon skill hotkeys, Maybe even go as far as giving unique keybindings for each mount. Its not like you guys are pumping out a new mount every expansion. The best mounts in the MMO industry might as well have better than subpar keybinding customization.

Are you sure about that have you tried binding anything to mouse button 1 and 2 aka left and right click?

    Edit

Abit old threads but have it changed recently?

Yes, they don't currently allow you to bind/unbind Mouse button clicks, probably because of the functions of the game that are tied to them.

That's a design choice they chose to go with early on, for what can be assumed like most things, to avoid silly players from choosing settings that make their game unplayable. Many of the settings they had by default for what ever reason or another have been changed. There is nothing stopping them from making this aspect of the settings better aside from demand to do so. Its not a technical limitation as much as it is a "is it worth our time" limitation.

But lets say worst case, it was a technical limitation. They could also choose to simply add a toggle box in settings that disables Ctrl+Click from targeting for players who do not wish to use it. Another option is that they don't actually allow you to manually bind the Ctrl+Click in the keybinding, but instead make it the default, so that you can always default back to it, should you prefer it.

how is it redunant, if so 1 could argue that the keybind is the redunant one since ctrl+click already exist.

It is easier to hold down ctrl and click target then strech fingers for yet another keybind somewere on your keyboard.

Since ppl usualy hold their hand in wsad so the pinky is on ctrl anyway.

Im going to try real hard to explain this clearly. Trying to have more patience with people these days.

Its redundant because they can simply bind Call Target to the keybinding as Ctrl+Click in the settings by default, instead of having the keybinding AND a forcibly bound setting.

You seem to be under the illusion that removing the redundancy suddenly means you arent allowed to have it bound to Ctrl+Click anymore.

No friend. It just means that people like me dont HAVE to have it bound to that anymore. It quite literally changes NOTHING for someone already using Ctrl+Click.

I find these types of replies really bizarre. As if  you are confused on the point of the post.

What does your liking of Ctrl+Click for target have to do with the pointing out of its redundancy?
Do you think fixing the redundancy would effect you in some way? Are you some kind of fringe player who uses THREE keybindings for calling targets?

I want to know your thought process behind this reply so I know how to respond to it, but right now I am assuming its just confusion.

  10. I have been asking for it for years, and I am going to keep asking for it till the servers shut down.

There is already a keybinding for calling a target. There is zero reason to have it also forcibly bound to ctrl+click. Its redundant. Absolutely no one in this game needs a primary, secondary, AND forced keybinding for calling a target. Anyone who uses Ctrl for combat purposes knows how incredibly annoying it is to constantly call targets on random enemies when you don't intend to. Please, just remove it and default it to what people set the keybinding to. Its nonsensical to have a keybinding option for it that if it doesn't remove the one you DON'T want to use.

It effects absolutely no one in a negative way, to do so, and removes a massive headache for anyone using CTRL for skill keybindings.

  11. First off, I understand virtuoso needed to lose some of its defensive uptime, however this feels like an incredibly scuffed approach to doing that. The skill without its block is just a noob trap for wasting blades, or reduced to a joke of an ability whose sole purpose is to maintain trait uptime.

Either keep block on Bladeturn Requiem and rework Blade Renewal, or rework bladeturn requiem entirely to actually be useful without being defensive. I also read people suggesting to work distortion into it and move it into the F4 slot. Literally anything but turning it into a scuffed "do not press" button.

You can set them to specific keys, my mounts are all on F1-F8. Warclaw doesn't need a binding cuz the mount up defaults to it inside WvW.

BlishHUD gives you a mount wheel which I'm surprised Anet hasn't just adopted that straight from the hud developer. I am fine with just the F hotkeys though.

You are confusing mount/dismount keybindings with mount SKILL keybindings. I am talking about skill keybindings, such as warclaw spear, sniff, ect. These cannot be bound. Only 2 of the 5 skills can be. The rest are completely locked to your weapon skill bindings.

I'm a little puzzled.  I have custom keybound my mounts and the tank works just fine for me in all respects.  I can board, dismount, and fire off all the skills.

It is true that I keep F as my interact key and X as my default mount key.  Perhaps if I had changed those I would know what you are talking about.

If you don't have unqiue mouse keybindings, then its not a problem. For example, I have all my weapon skills bound to my mouse, and in order to free up keyboard real-estate, I have them all bound to NUM 1-3 and the forth and fifth weapon keys are bound to Ctrl+num1-2.

However because mounts only have 2 key bindings, mounts that have 5 skills default to, and conflict with your weaponskill bindings. This effectively renders them unusable unless you bind your weapon skills around your mount skills, or bind your two mount bindings to 2 additional keys.

Its just very janky and problematic, when simply having 5 mount bindings would solve it across all game modes and story instances.

  14. There are points in this game that make it almost unplayable with how lazy the mount bindings are. A good example is Forging Steel, where anyone who has custom keybindings for their mounts literally CANNOT use the tank. This is a major problem for warclaws in WvW as well. Please. Just add actual keybindings for mounts so I can play the game without having to screw up my settings everytime I need to do certain content.

The devs have been doing a really awesome job fixing things in the game, but this remains a thorn that needs to be pulled out.

Edit for people who dont understand the issue:

Mounts only have 2 key bindings. Mounts that have more than 2 skills default to your weapon skills. This means you cannot use your 2 mount keybindings in any place that conflicts with the 3 mount skills that you CANT keybind.

Mount skill 1 is unbindable and by default set to your basic attack skill. Mount skills 2-3 can be bound but they cannot be bound to certain keys that mounts with 5 skills will be defaulting to. Whats worse is that these positions are different on certain mounts.

  15. They suffer from a problem that pops up frequently with some of gw2's skins. That problem being forced shader settings that only apply to those skins. In this case, its the permanent red light effect, as if the weapon has a spot lamp pointing up at it to cast a red light on it at all times. This makes it incredibly difficult to match with outfits/armor. I think the intention was to make it look as if the gems in the weapons were glowing, but it looks more like a directional external light source instead.

In my opinion, you should never force bizarre lighting shaders on your assets like this. If the object in question is spitting out particles and effects, that is one thing, but arbitrary lighting effects cast on a weapon from an invisible outside source will almost always end up looking odd, especially if its the only object being effected by it.

This is just my opinion. I am sure there are some who disagree.

Devs canned that one, because they decided it stretched the whole encounter way too long

Uhh.. No its 100x more likely that it was cut because it was not finished in time for launch. Unless you have a quote from a dev to confirm that theory, I'm going to choose to have more faith in anet that they didn't choose chop the climax of their core product in half because it was to long and boring instead of just making it NOT boring. 😂

If they wanted to shorten the encounter, they would have done it in other areas that mattered less than the peak culmination point of the entire story. Id bet my lunch money it was due to launch day time constraints.

Wouldn't need any change like that. In fact I prefer Zhaitan over most of the others. Big nice story - slowly developed through the later parts of the core personal story (while already hinted at him earlier) ... and with the pact forming and slowly progressing through Orr and Trahearne and his Wyld Hunt (cleansing of Orr).

I do not need to attack him with my swords, maces and other stuff - to feel good.

What you are describing is the very reason its disappointing. There is a design to telling stories. I am sure someone more familiar with writing processes and story telling can explain it in detail, but the entire point is that the core story ending completely skips sections of story telling design. Its supposed to look something like a hill. With plot, rising action, climax, falling action, ect. Only the zhaitan fight is not a hill. Its a plateau. The zhaitan fight goes straight from plot into the climax and then ends. No matter how you look at it, thats bad writing. But this could be overlooked if the fight wasn't also just terribly boring.

No ones talking about going to zhaitan and bopping him on the head with a finishing blow from a magical gemstore skin. Just a little more than swatting him like an over sized mosquito and fixing the flow of the action in probably the most important chapter regarding new player retention. 🙂

One of the most common responses to the game after beating core story is how disappointing the ending is, regardless of how much any one individual might have liked it. The same reason that season 1 was added back to the game is the same argument that can be applied to why the originally planned second phase of the zhaitan fight should be added. New player retention. If they are really aiming to have GW2 in the best state possible for the steam launch, there is not much reason to leave the core story in a state that makes 7/10 players say "thats it?"

Bottom line is that the final fight that free-to-play players from steam will be experiencing is the most boring and un-engaging fight in all of gw2. It doesn't have to be, and it shouldn't be.

  18. Now that Anet has increased their focus on improving the new player experience, and going so far as to reworking and adding season 1 back to the game, what are the chances of us finally getting that second half of the final Zhaitan encounter that was originally planned and very much wanted? As it stands, the core ending is a steep build up to a very disappointing climax. Every elder dragon has some really personal final encounter that leaves an impression on the player and makes those dragons feel like real and important characters (even the less than ideal ending for Jormag and Primordius). Zhaitan was just a thing we worked really hard to get to and then shot out of the sky like we were on a hunting trip.

Is there any future where we finally see face to face engagement with the grounded undead elder dragon in Zhaitan's Last Stand like what was originally planned? Or maybe a new map added to that location in orr where a Zhaitan meta event takes place, much like Dragon's Stand, Dragon fall, Dragonstorm, and Dragon's End?

Edit: Thanks, mods for moving us to the lore section. Showing that anyone can make it as a forum mod, the ability to read not required. Very inspiring.
