    I have been playing Necromancer as my main character since 2012 and I have to say that Harbinger is the most boring elite specialization to date. Some other profession elites might be worse that Harbinger in usefulness, but they have much more interesting gameplay. Utility skills and traits are are too simple and unoriginal, press a button and get some boons, much wow. Even the elixir skill icons are copy / paste with slight color variations, I really hope those are placeholder images.

    It's going to be really sad if I'm going to get a specialization which I'm never going to use in any situation. In current situation I'd rather play Catalyst as my main character instead of Harbinger and I don't even play as Elementalist at all. I don't mind pistol that much, even though I hoped for another weapon. But I think Harbinger needs off-hand pistol as well. Main hand piston does not feel good enough since our off-hand weapons sucks.

    Did you mean Prismaticite Crystal? That would be a way too cheap with 500 pieces, those crystals drops left and right in Dragon Response Missions.

    Whatever the game is, I still think that it is babysitting. If people are clueless about the controls, they can check and remap them as they like from the options. But that is not the point, the point is that every game should not act like players are stupid and hold our hands all the time. Takes away from the experience to figure out stuff on our own.

    CC mechanics are a complete mystery to every new player, while the CC bar is CRUCIAL to some encounters. No part of the game tells people what it is, what CC stands for, what types there are, which skills to use or what happens if you don't use CC skills! You don't do research about CORE mechanics - it's not a fun little secret for people to discover - it's an ESSENTIAL MECHANIC, A MUST KNOW for anyone playing.

    I started this game when the game launched, I didn't need any tutorials how to play the game. I learned to play this game all by myself and I definitely didn't need any babysitting. In matter of fact, I had more fun by doing so. I don't like it when the game tells you what to do in every step. The new players you are referring to as babies, they chose to be "clueless babies" so that other people or the game would tell them what to do and do everything for them. I don't blame you for being frustrated to teach new players the game mechanics all the time when they are too lazy to do it themselves, it's their own fault. I have read countless of topics where people were complaining about this game and a lot of time it's all about learn-to-play issue.

    I don't really remember GW2 mentioning CC or crowd control anywhere, so the issue is made up by players. I understand that new players might be confused when people are telling them to use "CC" skills, but I would not blame the game for not telling it. That is easy to figure out as well; "oh I used a skill which applies stun and the break bar is going down? Cool!" Though I guess I still somewhat agree that it should be mentioned somewhere.

    editThis is my own opinion, but I don't like it when people can't or does not want to learn the game mechanics. Takes away all the fun from us who likes the challenge. Like HoT maps got nerfed when they were "too hard" for some people. Then the certain boss fight in PoF which was "too hard" and it was patched so it is easier to beat. Sure I lost to that boss fight, but I adapted to it and changed my build and beat him in my second try. The real issue is, that some certain people does not want to learn, whatever the rules are. Then the same people are complaining that the game is too hard and "why didn't you tell me that?".

    Telling people how to use dodge and crowd control skills is babysitting. Why people can't figure out stuff by themselves and everything has to be explained from the start? Learn while you play, and selling lvl 80 boosters is stupid idea since then we have lvl 80 players who does not know the base mechanics. If you were referring to me and have any literacy at all, I said I was exaggerating with my "press x to do something" example.

  5. I don't think that new players has to be hand fed by the game too much, it takes away all the fun and excitement to learn new stuff by yourself. Guild Wars 2 is already easy to learn and casual friendly game. I hate this trend in gaming that games has tutorials like "press space bar to jump" or "press 1 to attack", this was exaggerating example, but I bet you all got the point. Games are made too easy so they can be targeted for larger audiences, aka bad or casual players. That is just bad business and makes an assumption that players are stupid.

    If some people are too ignorant to learn anything by themselves and want game developers to give them everything on a silver plate, maby games are not meant for you then. Or then they have to play easier games which does not require thinking.

    I'm using "MatsoDOF" and "LightDoF_AutoFocus" + "LightDoF_Far" combination with GW2 Hook and it works pretty well and does not disturb gameplay. I'm using my own settings for them.

    That I can figure out by myself that they are influenced by different cultures. Though ravens are important part in Norse mythology.

    Sure, it was called Wendigo at one point of development, but I think they had a good reason not to call it by that name. Wendigo is from North American folklore and does not really fit the Norse mythology. Though Wendigo and Fenrir has similar abilities, quoted from different site: " While in the wraith world, Fenrir is capable of using shadow strike, an attack which allows him to teleport to his enemies' location and quickly kill them, as well as easily navigate over the terrain. The most important of Fenrir's abilities is his power to strike fear into and dominate his enemies, allowing him to access a whole host of opportunities." Just like the Boneskinner does.

    Same as Wendigo, he causes fear on his pray and strike upon the victim when it has driven away by despair. Sure when you Google search images of Wendigo, you can find similar images like Boneskinner, but the most common "sight" has been a human like creature with fur.

    Developers had a really good reason to change the name, the model is still really good.

  10. I wasn't too sure if I should post this in Lore or General discussion, but I'm pretty surprised that this matter haven't been discussed yet (at least I didn't find any topic and I was not going to search from 100 pages of finds relating to Boneskinner). What is the origin of Boneskinner?

    We all know already that Norn are based on Vikings / Norse mythology and rightfully so, The Icebrood Saga narrative is written in old Norse. I didn't actually pay much attention to it, but recently I played Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice and the events / boss fight against Fenrir goes just like in Guild Wars 2. He gets stronger in the dark, he is afraid of light and we use it to our advantage. Even the creature model is really similar, though this is still an artistic decision. In Hellbalde Fenrir is visualized as a boar, but in the game he is mentioned as Garmr / Fenrir. Sometimes called as Hellhound. Boneskinner and Garmr / Fenrir shares the same fate basically, Boneskinner guarding Sanctum Arena and Fenrir guarding Hel's gate. There are other references too, such as Fraenir of Jormag is named after Fafnir, a dwarf who became a Dragon.

    This is just my guess, but I think Jormag's voice actor is female, because she is pretty much influenced by Hel (daughter of Loki). Did you know that Hel is the ruler of Niflheim, a realm of primordial ice and cold?

    I like Norse mythology and stuff related to it. I love in games how developers take inspiration from it.
