  1. There isn't even a slight chance that I'd buy the expansion, even with a 'WvW content' upgrade (promises, promises) - simply because of the current state of things. Content aside, even IF they had a set of servers that could actually RUN the bloated, decade-old engine without mass disconnects and huge lag, then you're still dealing with the hacking, exploits, bots, and other crap that run rampant...not to mention the cross-server trolling, parking alts on BL's/ridiculous queues, and numerous other picky things like having mounts that move slower than a charr in travel... Without fixing basic bits first, pouring sparkles on a pile of dog poo doesn't really warrant opening my wallet.

Frankly, I'm falling off the bandwagon.....used to like the game, and was a 5-6x/week player, but it's really lost it's appeal as of late; pretty much down to 1-2x/week now.....Anet doesn't seem to care about addressing any actual issues, just releasing more glittery crap in the gem store.... Fair enough....there's plenty of other amusing titles on the market, so I'm not torn up about it. Will probably be done with it before the new year.

  2. @Dawdler.8521 said:Oh come now. We bought HoT because Anet devs said they would 100% focus on WvW after it's release.

They'll get us again, just wait and see.

Not so much. As a 99.9998% WvW player, my play-time has dwindled to roughly ~1 hour a week now. I can't see it going up again. At this point, it's blatantly obvious that Anet doesn't give a flying (*&^ about anything other than cash. They've made ZERO moves to eliminate the bots, hacks, third-party garbage, or otherwise.......So why bother?

I don't buy gems, because it's all a sham; couldn't care less about gold, gear, skins, etc......

All in all, it's an entirely dated game, masquerading as something much better than what it is. A few months down the road, I only hope that the great folks in our guild can agree on what to play next. Community is ALL that's holding us together right now.

  3. It's fine. Time management. Go in, push ALL the buttons, and then sit back and sip your beer. Wait 10-15 minutes, get another beer, throw steaks on the BBQ, and have a glance at the screen. Make salad, simmer mushrooms, put garlic toast in the oven. Glance at screen. LET THE STEAKS REST. Remove assorted sides from heat, and plate. Add a light bit of grated parmesan to garlic toast, and enjoy. Compliment the ol' lady on her choice of dinner for the evening. Watch an episode of designated survivor (NOT season 3) on netflix, and brush your teeth. Change into jam-jams.

Sit down at computer, and have a beer. BE READY. Skills are about to be available again. Press 6 to not die ..... followed by ALL the buttons again. Chat with guildies on TS, see what they have on the go for the rest of the week. DOME UP. Floss. Sort recycling.

AXE 5. SPIN TO WIN. Go to bed. Do not forget alarm.

0430: Shower. Eggs. Glance at screen. F2 for FULLCOUNTERANDNOWI'MDEAD.

    Well....we tried.

  4. Meh, I'm sure it'll be fine. If HOD/SF can't take on two servers at once, they'll drop, and maybe just focus on holding mid/high position there. Who knows. Who cares!? lol Not like there's any extra bits for being up there!

  5. It's in between. Fiercely loyal to the guild and the people in it, don't really give a cr@p about the actual game; because it's on an aging, downhill slide.....love a good, mostly-even fight, and don't mind PPT-ing. And by even, I mean lasts at least a few rotations of all skills. Win or lose, a good fight to me, is where you can throw a dome two, three, or maybe more times before one team faceplants. Any time our commander comes on coms and says "Uh.....I have no skills left"....that's a good day.

  6. I just try to be nice. It ain't that hard. Got absolutely steamrolled tonight by some GAL, and it was fine. They showed up in numbers, knew exactly what to do, and surprisingly, didn't choose to fight 60V20, or call for more, etc. They stuck around, went for the the second round, and beat my head into the weeds. It was solid. I even came back to throw a quick salute & cheer, before logging for the night. Considering our group, it was a decent fight, and I couldn't care less that we lost. Didn't cost me a dime.

People seem to lose their minds, before they realize a possibility to the fact that others may have a better connection, more experience, better gear, bigger groups, better class makeup, etc, etc, etc. Yet, it turns into a pile of hatred - solely based on what is - essentially - jealousy for belonging to a more 'elite' group than everyone else. It's a prime example of the facebook-era, and how association with 'groups' and popularity turns people into the worst version of themselves. Ignore it, and everything will work out in the end.

Fact o' the matter is, most of it is individual responsibility. It's not about the other team; it's about how YOU react. It's not Anet's fault, or particular responsibility in any way. How you conduct yourself in life is solely up to YOU, and I'd would absolutely love to think that individuals still hold more power over themselves, than these 'groups' ever could. Otherwise, who are you? A sheep?

Yeah, at some point you'll probly get smashed by a group that's two or three times the size...but it only has to happen once a night. After that, you simply don't engage them! Just do your thing, and it'll be fine! If you're getting tracked or trolled - bail! Screw 'em all - let 60 people take a camp. It's worth a laugh.....AND, it's not the only game on the market, so take a few breaths and go do something fun! Isn't Borderlands 3 coming out soon?

  7. While I agree that combat is never FAIR, there are some things that are frustrating, in that depending on location, proximity of groups, size of groups, etc, etc, ......some of this stuff doesn't go over well with a lot of people. Mostly, because the servers are like waiting on my Ti-86 calculator to roll out a few 90* offset sine waves. Most times, people go down to a machine-gun attack before they even see it, because the servers are so GD slow. That isn't gonna change - especially for a decreasing crowd of very select people, who still choose to play a very old, very cobbled-together game.

It literally is like bringing a tank to a paperclip fight in some cases - but there is a solution. If you're not a hunter, don't go anywhere in less than threes. Done. Not enough? Take four. And while they waste their time hoping for a single kill of some idiot who was dumb enough to run across the battlefield alone - your group will take 4 camps, 2 towers, a keep, 6 sentries, do the dailies, all your guild missions.....etc, etc, etc.

Let's be honest - this game is OVERWHELMINGLY about numbers now. Great fight guilds get smashed by pug groups of 50+, and there's nothing that's gonna change about that! Do you think the world wars were won by a single moron chasing an entire division through the mud with a stapler? No! He served one summons, and then they shot him 600 times!

When people realize that roaming is on it's way out - for the most part - and start ganging up, the roamers will disappear. Pew-pew brings little to primal warfare, and those folks will be relegated to wasting their time for a couple T5 mats over 4 hours, and give up.....join the group, and get something done.

Really, from what I've seen, the odd-troublesome ranger is sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet-FA in comparison to the future problem - that maps will simply run as a single glob.....And when big guilds or groups start harassing those roamers to get off the map (mostly through hate and verbal abuse) - to make way for like-minded individuals......well, I'll probably buy Just Cause 4 and do something else.

I'm not advocating for either side - I'm just saying, that's how I see it going. As much as I hate getting caught off-guard by a ranger, that's their job. Yeah, it sucks, but in a few extra numbers, they'll be forced to take cover under the feet of the mob.

In my eyes, de-evolution and distaste will probably be this expansion's downfall - it's bad enough already with the WvW trolling, so when my guild partakes in the back-and-forth, I simply log off. You can do the same. Ranger? Yeah, I'll fully send it if they're silver or better, (and hopefully 1v1 - because I suck) but I certainly don't expect to live - and I really don't care anymore! You CAN waypoint.....Bore them to death.....it's all on YOU!
