[Suggestion] Elite Specialization; The Abomination

Arkham Creed.7358

Inspired largely by the always (in my option) awesome yet under-rated Blue Mage job from the Final Fantasy series, this elite spec is built around the core idea of stealing abilities from your foes for use against them. And is drawing largely from the "ability steal" skills Arena Net used to toy around with in the early days, but have now been all but entirely removed from the game. I don't have a full idea here, such as a weapon or alteration to the Shroud mechanic, but the core idea of skills and traits are what really stands out with this spec, and are the important thing here.

New Skill Type: Essence DrainsThese skills are a strange hybrid of Mantras, Signets, and of course ability steals. Each skill is characterized by a semi-long casting time, and build multiple "charges" for a secondary skill to be used afterward. However, instead of each skill having a set charge effect, they instead copy abilities from targeted enemies based on their "family" or class, not unlike the thief's steal function. To compensate for this somewhat unpredictable nature, each drain also has a signet styled "passive" effect that remains active for so long as that drain is charged. Once you use the last charge of a given drain it "flares" with a short burst of power, and the passive effect ends. This is the aspect of the skills that differentiate them from one another, and that are altered by traits.

Playstyles and TraitsThe above lends itself to three primary ways to use your Abomination Necro in game, and I have dubbed these "the collector, the battery, and the chaos." Each of these three playstyles could be reflected in the trait options, as we've seen done many times before, with one trait at each tier designed for each playstyle.

The Collector: These are tactical players who focus on seeking out specific abilities in preparation for specific content. Collector traits focus on increasing charge count to get more use from each stolen skill, as well boosting the effects of those skills themselves. These boosts can be unpredictable, as they are dependent on the skill type/family stored, but to a collector who has planned ahead, they can be very powerful.

The Battery: Batteries don't like the random and unreliable nature of stealing skills, and instead want to focus on the "known quantity" of each drain's passive effect. Taking traits that boost these passives, or that make them linger for a time between "feedings" on enemies. Batteries don't use the charged abilities often, and when they do it's for the known "flare" effect, so they have traits to boost that as well.

The Chaos: These players adore the random, unpredictable nature of skill stealing and are constantly gaining and using new skills throughout combat. Less interested in the skills themselves, or their passives, as they are being unpredictable engines of destruction, Chaos players take traits that boost cooldown periods and initial casting time, allowing them to drain more skills more often. In addition, as the draining effect itself is the core thing they use, they also take traits that buff that easily overlooked aspect of the skill type; gaining lifesteal and/or boon steal when they use an empty drain skill on a fresh target.
