Question about acquiring mounts

Maybe somewhere someone mentioned it but I can't find the answer.

Is acquiring mounts account based or character, and I don't mean masteries because it's obvious?

If yes, I don't really know how to feel about it yet.There is something strange in creating new 1 level character and having a mount already.The gliders didn't make such a big difference in terms of exploration for me.Some veterans probably would say it's good because you're not wasting time.But I guess it's a personal thing.

Mounts are tied to the mastery system and are unlocked after completing the first Path of Fire story chapter, Sparking the Flame. Once unlocked, they can be used by any character on the player's account.

And I like it this way. Makes exploration so much more fun with my other classes.

And I understand your point. But I see it this way: All my characters are family. They are sisters or whatever and my main character is the big sister which gives the younger sisters presents after her adventures. Like a nice shiny weapon or clothes from certain far away areas, a fancy glider from Auric Basin. Or a raptor mount from the desert etc.

That way it doesn't feel so strange anymore xD
