Moving files from one drive to another.

I wanted to move gw2 files from one drive (for eg. E:) to another (for eg. F:). Will it work by just copy pasting? And the game will run correctly after that or do i have to make some other changes as well? Or i have to download all the data again?Thank you. :)

It will work. You will not have to download all the data again. Move the files gw2-64.exe and gw2.dat and change your desktop shortcuts accordingly to the new location.

Don't even need the dat file. Jusd the exe

Are you sure you don't need the .dat file to be in the same folder, much less the same drive?

I mean, of course, you could download the .dat file, again, by why would one want to? That's ~35GB.

Sidenote: Well 35GB+ of one file pretty much ensures limited external transfer as the common external drive are usually non-power assisted USB2.0 drives which actually have a limited transfer limit of 4 GB compared to their power assisted counterparts. So that may be one reason why you wouldn't be able to move it. This is assuming we're going device to device though haha.

It depends on the device's file format. Still, we are discussing one drive (on the computer, I assume) to another.

The Guild Wars engine is very adaptable. I haven't checked recently but it should be able to run form anywhere, copy pasted, even moved to a new computer without downloads. LIke Blude.6812 said the game will also Rebuild itself from just the exe, but this would require you to re-download.

i have move the .exe and .dat I launch it but when the launcher pop up, it redownloading again the 400k++ files :(like thishttps://ibb.co/m73Ngb

If you didn't update your desktop shortcuts to the new location as well, including both paths in the shortcut, gw2 will look for the gw2.dat in the old directory. You have to change both path locations in the shortcut. One path that is prefixed to the *.exe and one path where it points to the executing location.

According to that screenshot, the game's files are still in Program Files. Can you not click on them and drag the folder they are contained in to your desktop? Or create a folder on your desktop and drag each file into said folder?
