Rune of the Cavalier/ Concentration/ Boon Duration inconsistencies

Recommended Posts

Observations:Rune of the Cavalier's effect occurs for the engagement ability AS THE ATTACK ANIMATION STARTS before the strike happens.

Issue(s) / Inconsistencies:This allows the 20% damage effect to apply to the mount's attack as correct. However, this causes the effect to be wasted especially on longer engage ability animations such as Springer/Skimmer/Griffon from greater height as you would only have a few seconds remaining after leaving the mount. When mounted, the CONCENTRATION stat is ZEROed so any BOON DURATION % derived from concentration DOES NOT extend the quickness applied by the rune as the effect occurs while still in the mounted state.Yet, DIRECT BOON DURATION % sources such as Sigil of Concentration, skills and traits still provide boon duration during the mounted state and DOES extend the quickness applied by the rune.Cup of Light-Roasted Coffee similarly applies quickness from leaving a mount but it takes effect correctly in dismounted state so any source of boon duration allows it to be extended.

How to replicate:1) Wear Runes of the Cavalier with concentration stats and no direct boon duration extending traits/skills/sigils and activate the mount attack.2) Do the same as 1) without concentration stats but with boon duration extending traits/skills/sigils and activate the mount attack.3) Repeat 1) and 2) not using Runes of the Cavalier but using Cup of Light-Roasted Coffee.

Possible Solutions:Ideally for the rune to be effective compared to other runes, 1) the effect should not be wasted by applying too soon, 2) the quickness component should benefit from all sources of boon duration and 3) the damage bonus still applies to the engage attack. Therefore:1) Have the effect take place just before the strike hits rather than at the start of the engage attack animation.2) Split the quickness effect to occur AFTER the engage attack in the dismounted state.

OR3) increase the duration of the effect of the rune / reduce it's cooldown so it's more effective.
