Why does it seem like matchmaking has gotten so extreme lately? Most games are very one-sided from the beginning of the match, with very few close games:

Core glass is pretty dead now. Even going as squishy as possible (Zerker + Strength Runes + Separation Sigil + Courage Sigil + Fire 132 + Air 321 + Arcane 132 + Glyph of Storms + Arcane Wave), it's not really possible to do enough damage consistently enough to clear points. And every class can oneshot you 😕
After playing core glass staff for almost 30 seasons (multi-diamond): RIP

you want to spread out in this game, theres lots of strong aoe attacks. usually its only necessary for one guy to contest point while the others focus down a baddie. find and possibly rebind the call target button, use it all the time. after that you gotta know the roles you need to fill for a team and how to rotate. theres info on this layin around on youtube. last is all the animations to remember, when to dodge when to cc etc. good luck.
There's no matchmaking in ranked either. Seems like something got broken in the last update:

CC and interrupts are important in most MMOs, but being stunlocked is something else entirely. It's not fun to have no control of your character for extended periods of time. You're literally sitting there NOT playing the game

10+ seconds of fear, knockback, knockdown, daze, immobilize, etc is not fun. Even with two stunbreaks on top of regular condi removal

The current level of CC is pretty nuts. Face a Warrior + Mesmer and you might as well run away lol

Much better for newer players because the TTK has increased. You can't get deleted in 2 seconds as easily, and it gives you more time to think and respond

Not to mention that runes of strength dont do that much for you, you can run strength, pack or even fire and achieve better burst.I'm failing to understand how 2 aoes and random arcane tickle on core ele is better burst compared to 4+ aoes on top of highest burst skills (plasma blast and pile driver) that staff has on weaver.First match back playing glass staff, almost 600k damage:

No one was afk, we were just totally outclassed. It's either win big or lose big (gold 2), often because of comp (e.g. 4 flanker team vs 4 bunker team).

The big balance patch has made core glass staff really strong. You can AoE burst better than anyone else, and that burst is more useful than ever because of the increased TTK. You also survive longer because everyone else's damage was nerfed. Wayyy easier to play now, especially compared to my thief lol
