As a result, shortbow, categorized as a mid-range weapon, actually has a massive range greater than 1200. Its stated range is 900.

Why are bows not bound by the same rules as other weapons?

Where on the doll did a ranger touch you with a short bow :astonished:

  2. Ok, I'm going to chime in here...and say...I always enjoy meme'ing in the gold 1 to plat 1 range especially on alt accounts.....as of late....I have noticed a definite uptick in the amount of "alts" some of who I know exactly who they are....and then others that I can tell just by playing them are clearly higher ranked players on alts playing down in dredges of ranked with me.....I personally think people are sick of playing competitive and just like to not give a crap on an alt account and play in ez mode tiers or tiers where they don't really give a damn. Also if you see someone you like maybe you try a little harder :)

If we pull some numbers out of our butt, let's say a high number like 2Mbps (a rate this high probably only happens in WvW but hey) is being generated by a busy 5v5 match. Then let's say 1000 spectators (not gonna happen but hey) would be a strain of 2000Mbps (2Gbps) needing to be sent to the spectators. Nothing from a spectator needs to be sent to anyone, except perhaps a ping once or twice a minute from the server to the spectator to determine if they're even still connected. So anyway 2000Mbps seems like a big numbeer, but if you think about how fast you can grab a file from the servers on patch day (let's say 30Mbps, which would be a bad speed, say a low-tier broadband on a poorly transmitted wi-fi node) then that equates to the amount of load represented by 67 people downloading a patch. The real world numbers are probably way more favorable, I'm using nightmare scenario numbers - yet still, this amount of data you think would be crushing ANet's capacity?

2Gbps for a server is a TON of data for most servers to xfer over the web at least singular servers....

My guess is also that the "Servers" that the pvp lobbies sit on are not scalable large "Server farms" and probably some stand alone box in a data center or a single VM in some cloud provider. For which is you ramp up 2Gbps over the net with 1000 connections is going to cause some bottlenecks on the server. This isn't going to change anytime soon because the cost upgrade these server's is not worth it for them. So here we are.... lol

  4. I absolutely think it has too steep of a learning curve. Definitely for new players. This is the main reason everyone from Silver 3 to Plat 1 thinks they should be plat 3+ but its their teammates keeping them down, because there are soooo many different things you have to know and do well. You have to know your class well from a build prospective and be able to play it mechanically well ( without having to think about anything it just has to be instinct and second nature ), then you have to understand the role of your build, the other teams build/comps so you know what matches are advantageous to you and where and when you should engage and that's only IF every other person on your team ( or there's ) understands the same concepts and plays the same way ( which almost never happens ) so when people start doing other things then the roles that the "meta" has laid out for them it becomes a cluster of tactics and strategy dependent on what everyone in the match is doing at any particular point in time.

This is the main thing that leads toxicity because everyone thinks they are the one's doing the right thing and carrying and getting frustrated at everyone else, and that entire combination of crap completely turns off new players entirely. IMO

@Tom Hsiao.9705 said:I mean isn’t it a wake up call nobody is going crazy for GW2 PvP... you don’t see massive fans tune in to watch the PvP game or tournament for a reason...

It's more the fact that Anet doesn't care about PvP and even let ESL die rather than investing a bit so the balance doesn't suck.I mean.. I am still always hoping there will be some changes and improvements but let's be honest.. A company that discards their eSport League because of lack of interest in the game mode and that abandon their brand (back then) new game mode (stronghold) rather than advertising and improving it speaks for itself imo.

If you want to enjoy TDM then I'd suggest playing custom games on courtyard or something.

While yes it can be lame and easy etc. That's the point. For new people starting the game, it is much easier to understand how to participate in a game where the object is to beat the other team. Grab a build that can fit a role and kill the other team. Then as they learn more advanced builds/mechanics etc they can improve. Jumping into conquest in it's current state is just an epic fail....you have to know your class, the enemies class, your role, the other roles on the team, the right comp, when to rotate when not to rotate, to fight on point or kite around the point...and that's just to be half way decent....it's a lot of information for newer players and makes the barriers of entry unreasonably high IMO

For instance SBs stability uptime is ludicrously high, but SB itself isn't completely OP it's just annoying to deal with especially if they are using both Elite shout and dolyak they have near perma stab. Mirage is still a poster child for bad PvP game design, despite no longer being S tier. Holosmith is still too much of a do-everything class, but is honestly not broken either. Rev, again, people find it annoying to get bursted by a Rev, but burst is all meta-Herald can really do so calling it OP would also be wrong.

Closest thing to OP is scrapper in solo Q. If a scrapper dies 1v1 to anything it's a bad scrapper. If a scrapper doesn't also know how to deal just enough damage to have kill potential it's a bad scrapper. If a scrapper isn't near insta-ressing it's teammates by comboing with the gyro it's a bad scrapper.

Firebrand is broken in organized teams. Behold:

Power frenzy spell breaker? Interesting.....imo there are better things to play in AT...now...a properly run zerker....could be broken :)
