  1. As a veteran too that's a real concern. Almost all my Matches outcomes are kinda all or nothing (500-less100 or vice versa) . sPvp population is way too low and the q-engine cannot work properly any more since he has no choice. The end result is frustrating for both sides of the coin: rookies bump against experienced players and get smashed ; and it's boring for old players. IMO It's critical for Anet to find some ways to quickly increase SPVP population or Naru & his friends will quickly stand alone in a giant sandbox 😏: - offer more incentive to attract and keep players.: new maps, specific rewards, etc. - population merge ( no clue if that's realistic but that would be a simple way to drastically increase the population and relaunch the competition) - modify the ranked ELO algorithm (which I suspect might be a major challenge): the total number of matches variance in the top players is crazy and it often lands to unrealistic results. Some players with way much less matches are above some others with the same W/L ratio - create links with WvW for example(trying to be creative 🤪) - etc. Just thinking at loud
  2. ELO system is great whenever the population is high. Nowadays, 1. Population is very low 2. The game mode has been monopolized by the same few 30 top players for many years 3. Many of them are involved in cheating areas and some of them have even been banned 4. These are the ones spending money and advertising mostly the game mode through their social networks (twitch, youtube, etc.) As a result, population keeps decreasing And It makes many player run away from the game mode.

  4. We all agree about the symptoms of the disease (for good a bad reasons). I've tried to identify a few paths to explore trying to exit this 'vicious circle and my intent is not to repeat these ones. If you guys have any ideas to submit maybe we will be listened (dreams .... 🙂) sooner or later! IMo the 1st question to answer is: how to quickly and drastically increase the population?
  5. Wed 7:03pm Est New Season started yesterday. 24hrs later Ranked 250th rating 1205 Did a few ranked matches yesterday for the placement and bumped into Shorts and Zenyus. Musta been so boring for them (I'm usually placed as gold 3 and low p1). Speaks for itself once again. #feelsbad
  6. I truly believe in the future of MMOs whether it's about PVE and PVP because they are based on the idea of persistent worlds. The piece editors tend to forget: this persistence is based on the ability of the community to develop the functional content. They 'just' need to listen that one and bring the technical ways to make things happen. Obviously there's a big focus on PVE (unfortunately I'm not sure it's based on persistence but more on traditional RpG development) and I hope pvp will be prioritized soon once EoD is delivered. GW2 has been a major franchise for many years and is still a reference of its kind. GvGs made it famous. They don't really occur any more but still there are some ways for group pf organized players to fight vs each others. They must not forget this: it's part of GW2 DNA and and they must keep enhancing this type of content beyond "follow the story" developments.
  7. I appreciate your contribution but you are describing the symptoms. But I'm looking for ways to cure the disease !! This is a very relevant example. The Queuing engine is unable to work properly because of the low population. Such situations frustrate everybody and obviously encourage toxicity !! - It needs to be either replaced or modified. - Same stands for the ELO system. It's great with a high population but does not work any more. Once again it needs to be modified. - IMO one of the best way to improve the pvp experience would be to gather NA and EU populations: * less servers to maintain * Population mechanically increased * NA and EU superstars would be able to deal other without having to deal with silver ranks (and vice versa) * Bring some incentives to pvp * Thinking at loud: Ranking could be based on the one who has the biggest (victories - losses) AND in case of equalities sort by descending order starting from the one with highest number of matches wins. Simple & Efficient. And I'm sure there must be many other ways!

  10. I could understand such type of behavior if we were talking of a major esport game with tons of money and politics at stake. But in that case, it's like being the king of the mountain alone in the middle of an empty land ... #feelsbad My feeling is really about 'an emergency for pvp survival'. In NA (which is Americas actually since there are lots of players from south America), there must be 300 plat players. If you add to this maybe 500 g3 + etc. Whatever the result is, it's nothing. It's ridiculous. GW2 is unique and awesome with it's kind of combat playstyle. It deserves a much bigger pvp community!
  11. Even for these guys it must be boring since they have been the same for many years. There are the ambassadors and should push for changes I hope.
  12. There are many good and bad reasons why at the moment population is low. But the fact is there: population is low and this is true for ATs, unranked and ranked whatever the moment is (during the season, off season, pve events, wvw events, etc.). Unless I missed something, the sad piece is I don't see any serious attempts to have this solved just like the ones I could identify.
  13. I'm a bit worried by the very low population. I was on a tourny a few minutes ago (5:15pm Est Lyssa on a Sunday afternoon) and there were 10 teams enrolled in the tournament = 40 players. 40 players willing to play serious pvp on a Sunday afternoon. This is just an example. I wish there are some real thoughts to increase the population. Otherwise it's on the path of death. Some ideas? - maybe gather EU and NA also. Even though time zones are different. But at least the base population would be gathered and could find some common time slots.. - maybe also add some incentive to pvp - or change the elo system who's not adapted any more for such a low population. - update (not re-develop) the queuing engine which cannot work properly any more. mid gold players are teamed vs or with top players and it's frustrating for both. - In addition, top players are just managing their decay and must be frustrated to always fight each other. Grouping with EU would be a good way for them to have new challenges and mechanically increase the population. I don't know, but I wish there were really some tangible thoughts and means to re-activate the pvp population.
  14. logged yesterday: did the update, went to queue, when map was loading game crashed.: got desertion status -17 points. Logged in later, got into a match, game crashed again. did not even try to login again. Created a thread to state that the patch is not viable it got removed (just saw this). In 7 years it was the 1st time I had such issues. Obvioulsy there was a lack of testing and Q&A. Hope today (Wed) it's gonna be better.Anyway, pvp is not a priority: live story and cash shop 1st
