  1. Have you been playing for a long time in other parts of the game after the release?  I ask because I noticed the new loading screen is brutal on my motion sickness, and 40mins is about my limit now, too, when it never was before.  It took a while for me to figure that out, though, because I was working exclusively in EoD and WvW (and I'm always prone to motion sickness in WvW if there's lots of mobs or structure battles going on), and I, too, thought at first it was something specific to the expansion content.

WARNING: The merchant only sells recipes, you also have to buy the insignias which means you'll have to farm for the unusual coins.

Nice thing is, there's a really cute and fun achievement that rewards unusual coins, so this was the most fun farming I think I've ever had in this game so far.

  3. Forgive me if this came up elsewhere, I did a search, but didn't see anything.  Is there a special requirement to start the hero point challenge in Arborstone?  I can do it on some alts, and the character working through the story, but I had an alt that couldn't start it; all the alts I tried it with were level 80.  Wiki doesn't have it up yet; am I missing something or is it just a minor bug?

    Thanks!

  4. I'm getting this as well; today it affected my raptor, which was very odd.  It appears to show the skin properly, but the dyes only show up correctly at the mount/dismount animation.  Never got it before, so I'm hoping it's at least an intermittent bug.

Edit: Was this reported in bugs, or should I also start a thread in the correct part of the forum for it?

Question related to this - I already have the Home Instance Portal stone (great little QOL item!), so if I get the bundle can I gift the additional Home Portal stone that I will end up with?

I suspect the answer is no, since the item is account bound on require.

Starting out with Combo Field, Dodge and, most importantly, Breakbar tutorials set the tone in a big way - it's fundamental game understanding a staggering amount of players are struggling with.

I really thought the way they did this was brilliant, and I really appreciate that they made you use what you learned in just about every single mission and story step... and refrained from adding other quirky mechanics that you use exactly three times in a chapter and then never use anywhere else in the game again, as in the living worlds.  The closest they got was forcing you to use the jade bot, and as a mastery, that's fine.  (And I'm grateful I only had to do it twice; just enough to learn how to use it.)  There's a really good argument to be made that new players who used a boost should start with this expansion and play straight through it; it's unfortunate that the story would then be out of order.

Maybe turning off motion blur will help with motion sickness as well as disabling post processing and using the "Effect LOD" setting. Hope that helps a bit.

Yes, I have done those things, and really appreciate the reminder to check as sometimes, for whatever reason, they get reset after updates.  The big problem with the log-in screen is the "pull" towards wherever your mouse moves.  Hopefully, they'll add a setting that will change that as well eventually.

    Motion Sickness

I don't know how widespread this is either, but I do have this problem.  From my perspective, EoD itself isn't significantly worse than the other expansions for the most part, and the things that bother me elsewhere do continue to bother me here.  BUT, the parts that are worse are MUCH worse.  Some things can be avoided; I simply walked away from the computer during a certain tour on a moving platform.  But the log-in screen is brutal - moving the camera as you move your mouse is the worst, nastiest, and most horrible thing anyone could do to someone with motion sickness - and having to take control of the Jade bot is equally vicious.  Weight of the World, in particular, flattened me.  More than 24 hours later, after failing the mission, I'm still coping with the aftereffects.

I try to understand that devs, developers, artists and programmers may not have the same problem I do, and take the things that bother me in stride.  But logging in IS a significant problem now, and I can't simply skip or avoid it like I can parts of the story or using the jade bot.  It significantly lowers the amount of time I can play and what I can do.  Whoever created that screen, I want you to know: I hate your guts.

Thanks for the reply. I think the confusion I have it's how much of each material you get.

If you follow the links under Contents, it tells you exactly how much of each material you get daily (or, where it's random, the range: 1-13 for T1 mats, 1-4 T2, etc. from the Hunter's contract, for instance).

Thankfully they're not too expensive but if you stock up on them you'll be hurting for inventory space I guess.

I wonder if Anet is planning on at least selling permanent fishing lures on the gem store.
They did tools so.. I'd expect something like that in all honesty.
And i'd probably buy it too cause i'm stupid and I love this game XD

There's a link in the fishing tab to the gem store.  Made me laugh; they're not really disguising their intentions there, are they?

On the other hand, I would not at all be surprised if account-wide bait and lures come out soon.  I'll grumble at having to pay for QoL that I really feel should already be in the game... but I'll honestly admit, I'll probably buy them anyway.

  11. I have everything in it.  I use the home portal stone a great deal; I don't mind the extra loading screen and it's a nice fast travel option for everything other than Divinity's Reach.  The Hunters and Industry contract probably aren't that useful for most people, unless you do a ton of crafting; since I have a lot of alts and tend to level them from crafting, I find it helpful, but I wouldn't have bought them at full price even so.  I do really like two Season boards, since I am very slow to do the stories, and haven't unlocked quite a few living world maps (or only recently unlocked them), and otherwise wouldn't have access to those mats.

For what comes daily; best follow the links under contents, it'll tell you what possibly comes daily: Black Lion Delivery Box (combined) - Guild Wars 2 Wiki (GW2W)  It all comes as a single mailing, so I couldn't tell you what of my haul came from what.  I do get a level 80 food item each day.

tl;dr: if you do a ton of crafting, have a lot of alts, or don't like/don't have the LW maps, it's probably worth it.  Or if you like to sell mats to make money quick, and don't have the time/will to farm them yourself.  Otherwise, I can imagine a lot of people will say it's not.

Yeah, maybe it opens LA-> Arbor when you finished the Arbor Part of the Story (and get the portal scroll as well), and I don't have any of the Arbor mastery and no Arbor -> LA portal, if you have the Arbor -> LA portal as well, then maybe the 1st mastery is the reason

I have the first mastery, and I have the portal from LA to Arborstone, but it doesn't go back to LA.  I also suspect Globalization is needed, and might also unlock other destinations from the Arborstone WP, as is the case in the Eye of the North.

You just have to complete the Ankka storyline, afterwards Canach gets his own establishment. Exit Arborstone to the north, you'll recognise the area you first arrived at, then turn around and go into the cave.

The casino offers Canach Coins, both from playing games of Canach Says, and from becoming a Jade Bot, going through a vent on the wall (turn object names on), and collecting coins all over Arborstone with the same freeflight mechanic you use in the story.

I also saw a Moa race, and there might be more. The game type cycles every 15min and I'm not sure if its random or if they follow a pattern, but coin collecting comes up often.

Canach Coins mainly buy four unique backpieces and spare Writs from all maps.

OH!  Very cool, thank you for that info!  I never thought to go and look for his establishment, I thought that comment about having a place was just designer wickedness, to tease us for a later possible plot.  That is pretty awesome.

If they went the event unlock route i would have it as a one and done like Core hearts.  or tie it into the hearts as well. that way players arnt having to do them every day they want to sleep at an inn. heck another route would be a small fee. 50 copper for level 2s and 10 silver for a level 80 to gain access tot he small area.

Oh, yes!  Honestly, I haven't done a ton of hearts after the change, I forget it's daily for later content.  Yes, once it's unlocked, it should be unlocked for good; and it should be account wide, not per character.  You "made a change to the world" by getting the inn set up, you should be able to enjoy it.

Though, perhaps characters low on gold could either get a tiny quest or be able to trade mats, if there's a daily charge.  You know: "Don't have the coin?  Go chop firewood, then!"

    "Unlock" them?

In ESO, I can just get on my mount and run almost anywhere on foot, and those places where I can't run, I can usually run to an NPC and take a boat/carriage/etc. there.

We are talking about completely different things... ...

Well, that's kind of the point.  They're different games, and the world is set up differently.  Doesn't matter what waypoints cost, you were never going to be able to do that in GW anyway.  ESO has all the maps connected, which simply isn't the case in the GW world, and levels aren't really a thing in ESO, but they are here.  Here, we have Asura gates and portal scrolls, which are sometimes level restricted, and waypoints if you want to bypass that.  According to the GW world set up, you DO have alternatives; you just have to get to a certain part of the story, first.  Which itself has been the case since LW2, and in this case, is probably to prevent spoilers and help make the Arborstone mastery more significant.  I can't say I'm terribly pleased that they've moved away from open access to the expansion maps at launch, but it was clear in IBS that's where they were heading.  That they give the scroll away free suggests to me that they knew the waypoint cost might be a problem, and did the best they could to minimize the damage while still keeping to the basic setup for map travel that they already established.

Edit: Keep in mind, WP costs are based on a mathematical formula.  You change that formula for Cantha, you've also changed it for all the rest of the world; and with most WPs only costing 1-3 silver for level 80s in the rest of the game, reducing is likely to create negatives at the lowest distances/levels and other oddities.  It's code that's been there since the start of the game and, if it's worth it and possible to fix at all, will take time.  And mistakes while fussing with it are very likely to break waypoints throughout the game, or, depending on how spaghetti the code is, the game period.

Where is his casino even? Is it tied to the Arborstone masteries?
If yes then I'll have to wait a bit on that as I'm currently leveling the last masteries for Jade Bot and Fishing. Gotta do the 3 Arbortsone ones after and then hopefully Siege Turtle when I finally get my hands on an egg froma hopefully successful meta.

Anyways, is there anything special you can do in his casino? What's it like?

Nothing special you can do, it's just a thing as part of the story.  No masteries required.  Don't want to say too much more; spoilers.  Regardless, the fact that it's a disco itself doesn't have much to do with... what happens in the story.

    Pretty sure they are personal.

I've often seen people show up to a location where I was just fishing moments after I catch my 3rd fish and start casting there.
Even though the spot has disappeared for me.

Ah, OK.  In that case, I suspect a balance thing, since you can fish anywhere.  In which case, it might be tweaked with time, and might be low now to keep that balance while everyone is trying fishing out.

  19. I think it's a nice idea, since Anet themselves already introduced the concept.  It would certainly make the world feel more like a place where people actually live, and not so much just a stomping ground for killer commanders to flex their weapon skills.  Great for RPers, and pseudo-RPers like me, and there are a number of little inns scattered around already that would then get a real purpose.  I'm good with it being something you have to unlock via collection quests or quest chains, or mastery points as well; perhaps something like "helping the inn keeper recover from bandit attacks" sort of justifications for not simply handing it out to people.

If the waypoint is the only way to get there, then the price should reflect that.  You cannot set it that high if there is no alternative route.

To be fair, there are indeed alternate routes; it just takes a little longer to unlock them.  And there are alternatives numerous people have mentioned for basic services that reduce the cost to nothing.
