  1. There have been 3 chapters released during Covid, plus the updates, festivals and ever-present gem store goodies. And this while working on the next expansion. You really think there is no development? Or do you only want tech improvements? Seriously ur crediting festivals and current content as new developments? Its the same THING! The store takes and removes things calling them seasonal, updates are shifts in the programming that were long overdue (anyone with a legendary will tell you that ). The whole game has been the same thing in one way or another, just content lazily shifted around to convince the blind its something new and exciting. With this blind loyalty Anet definitely has a strong fan base, they can get away with anything! Sorry for wasting my time hoping some people had eyes to see or atleast the vision to see what could be done better.. Enjoy your "perfect" gw2.
  2. Remember they removed VA for now due to covid. MOST voice actors don't have the equipment at home NOR are paid enough to just rush out and buy it. As for comparing wow to gw2, I advise against it. Wow may be "bigger" but it lacks tons of polish. I play both daily but I prefer gw2. This was never a WoW vs Gw2 comparison, of course people read it and pushed their comments in that direction.. But this is a comparison of game development & maintenance during the COVID19 era. I chose WoW because of the utilization of Ray Tracing, the ONLY current MMORPG other than Justice (Chinese MMORPG) to implement it. What I am saying is the excuse of COVID19 stopping GW2 from voice acting, or regular patches and expansions isn't cutting it, especially when so many other developers are thriving and bringing new tech to their games (ie. WoW) or even bringing/developing new upcoming MMORPGs (ie. Blue Protocol).
  3. Yes they did do a great job. But clearly its not enough.. when's the last time we had an expansion? or a real surge of new content. Last thing I saw was a freaking skimmer under water (seriously?). No new water mounts? Still waiting on Legendary Armory! If they had proper funding from continual income they could afford to do so much more. I'm in the same boat as you, I don't like paying for mmorpg's but I see the benefits of it when comparing it to other games strategies. When you say they could do more, what do you want them to do exactly? I believe in more than just voicing a complaint, so I appreciate your question.Easy answer: I want them to come out with guildwars 3!Not so easy answer: I want them to establish a different business model. The game has gotten monotonous and repetitive, even the new content is the same concept with the same pieces thrown around in a different way. I want them to embrace next gen and the amazing new tech coming out. With all the Tflops of data being chomped up by consumer hardware now a days, I want them to revolutionize the MMORPG genre just like they did back with Gw1 and Gw2 no grieving system. But this time I want them to focus more on AI development. The winner of the next MMORPG wars will have changed the game by utilizing the power of current hardware in a way never done before and for mmorpgs that focus MUST be on how NPCs interact with players. Right, so you want most of the players not to be able to play the game. You do realize that most of the players don't have the most up to date computer hardware...right....right?Well that's what happens with generational upgrades. With the new PS5 and Xbox Series X gaming is getting a huge boost and they are being introduced at the usual $500 mark. Compare that to last gen Xbox and Ps4. So yes players are going to have the most up to date, its just a matter of WHEN they decide to get it. Why should developers have to wait til the consumer (who by the way has been complaining about not having games utilize their hardcore systems fully) upgrades. This is a great push by console and game developers, this is the time when everything is exciting. Remember when Crysis came out and blazed everyones PC's? Thats what we are dealing with now with ray tracing and clearly the majority can play Crysis now ez-pz. Its great for us PC gamers (hardcore or not) because it will push developers and hardware makers to make more affordable and awesome tech. 3 big players in GPU this year, last year was just Nvidia.
  4. Friends don't be discouraged! Yes Moore's Law is dead, but new things are on the horizon! New ideas are thrown about every day. Just the thought of a NPC with ambition is itself a revolutionary idea slowly being acted upon. But thats the thing: "slowly". A revolution starts with the spark of an idea and a revolutionary to push that idea into action. Just this discussion alone will be seen by the right eyes and push will start to change. I'm not the first nor the last to have this vision. I believe that we will see it much sooner than we think.
  5. Regardless of the accuracy of the numbers.. I just want something different.. I'm sure we all long for it.Know what the most enjoyable part of this game is for me? When a bug happens! Like the times when a npc does something unexpected and we all joke about it. Most recent was when ARC spawned not in the middle of Shattered at the end, but enough off to the side that it threw the whole mechanics of the fight off. Everyone cracked jokes on how ARC just got tired of the games monotony too, so he decided to mix it up a bit. Why can't a npc just decide one day to get out of the dungeon and bring the raid to us for once? The answer is simple: No ones looking at revolutionizing MMORPGs anymore it seems, no ones looking to bring a new AI to the genre. They all bring the same static systems to the table and wonder why the genre is struggling. They all want the money but don't seem to understand that we as consumers only get wise to their schemes.
  6. Can you give me a source for the numbers. I find it is helpful to have all the data when talking about things. https://mmo-population.com/r/guildwars2Has the numbers. Yes its still considered a "healthy" game by current standards. But the player base logs in to do things like dailies instead of play the game for extended sessions (self included). Just look at the subscriber to daily player ratio and those "daily players" have a good amount of pop-in players. How do you know what people log in to do? Very simple answer: I play the game. But you just said that you only log in for things like dailies. How do you know what other people are doing? I recently started logging in for just dailies, scheduled raids and other in-out things. I'm speaking of the games history since I and others have been playing. People talk on many different platforms inside and outside of the game. So it is purely anecdotal/speculation when you say that the playerbase only logs in for dailies.Subscribers: 13,263,802 - Daily Players: 378,018What's anecdotal about those numbers?

  12. Are we really complaining about protecting people's health and wellbeing during a pandemic? Clearly this isn't an attempt or discussion about their health and well being. Its about how so many other developers are thriving during it and even continuing work on new mmorpgs to compete with GW2 instead of cutting corners.
  13. Lets put the fanboy-ism aside and really take a look at why Gw2 is failing.. and lets not start a debate as to whether or not its failing, the numbers speak for themselves.. I love the game don't get me wrong. But the development of the game is lacking severely. I don't want it to die, I want them to do better!
  14. So let me get this right... WoWs next expansion is including Ray Tracing, has DX12 support and is 16yrs old... GW2 took OUT voice acting, still uses DX9 and is half WoWs age at 8yrs old... So I guess when i'm twice as old at 76 i'll be better looking and more efficient??
  15. Apparently this has been going on for awhile but has seen a giant boost since the release of the new legendary trinkets.. What is Anet doing about it???
  16. Assumptions never made anything true, it only gives people a reason to click on thumbs up buttons.. To assume that I brought it up and complained about it is far from true, this is the only venue that I have ever brought it up.. And my friends/guilds are comprised of various players of various talents who have played much longer than myself.. I also know that some of them have difficulty with rotation management and have mentioned once or twice of how excessive it is to have to utilize so many skills in a rotation for optimal dps. After many years of MMORPGs with more optimal skill rotations, i'm speaking from a view that sees where things could be better.. And when your faced with a needed dps benchmark to win a fight, don't tell me you don't need to be able to perform certain dps numbers, that's just a poor excuse. And in order to perform those certain dps numbers you need to have rotations consisting of unnecessarily excessive button presses in Gw2 (Ie. Gorseval the Multifarious).. I just simply said why not just manage the system a little more optimally because its unnecessarily complicated, but my wording clearly offended some.
  17. "Easy button" is a extreme description, no one said lets put everything under one button except the extremists..I strongly disagree that being able to perform a few tasks a little more conveniently would EVER remove the value or joy of accomplishment, nor how it would dramatically dumb down anything when almost every battle involves mechanics other than how many buttons you can hit in succession. Not a single person here can say that if their rotation involved a few less keys they could coast through raid and fractal or any other game mechanic.. In fact, those same mechanics are designed to bring the majority of difficulty/challenge. There's been many a time in fractals where jumping tripped me up, but rarely a time where I didn't get maximum potential dmg output. Gw2 Puts the old Tank and Spank concept to rest with its creative solutions to the mundane battle mechanics of old (yes some fights are still T&S, we know!).. Anet would have no trouble implementing other means of difficulty besides juggling unnecessary amounts of button combination. If i wanna play a class, my major hurdle shouldn't be whether or not i can memorize a combination of skills, it should be whether or not I can strategically utilize the best skill for the situation at hand.
  18. I concede to your point.. The unfortunate reality seems to be some will just never "git gud" and therefore miss out on all "that heavenly glory" to quote bruce lee. If anyone missed that its because the boy was focusing on the finger, which some players do. I just don't see why harder has to be even harder because of button pushing.
  19. Please read carefully what is written.. because a lot of you are just responding to what you think is being said, instead of what was actually said even though you quote them. To put hard definitions like "disability" on not being able to perform like someone else is extreme in this case.. We all have different skill sets and capabilities.. Whats so bad about an OPTION, (key word: "option", not forced on everyone, since some of you keep putting words in my mouth) so that others less capable can enjoy playing a game where skill and SUCCESS is ultimately determined by mechanics execution.. and on the flip side what if ANET was to just one day say: "this game is too EZ because the, falsely claimed majority, think we should have to press more buttons" will people rejoice or shift sides of the debate then? When is too much too much and enough enough? If more people can have success in this game, the better in my opinion. But the popular individualistic view of todays society says otherwise. Success should be determined in this game by ones work and determination, not solely on whether they can meet what might be impossible requirements for them. And please spare everyone the extreme scenarios, your not losing your precious elitism by considering others difficulties. We were all noobs at one point.
  20. I think your confusing learning the mechanics with being able to actually perform the mechanics.. To know that as a weaver i am capable of attaining some of the highest dps in the game, but im having trouble attaining it due to the fact i can't press the buttons i know that i need to press fast enough for whatever reason , is completely different from me just randomly button mashing and hoping for what the class is capable of. ..And because i am addressing the individual responses doesn't mean my continuity on the discussion is compromised.. I am still focused on the combat swapping mechanics being overwhelming for some and how implementing a option for easier execution would be more beneficial than not. I appreciate your taking time to respond to my comment.
  21. We all spam abilities, that's the name of the game.. heck the entire game is basically who can zerg the fastest to avoid any other strategy besides zerg spamming dps race abilities.. Mechanically challenged, physically challenged, either way i'm focusing on people who feel the button mashing can get a bit extreme because of the added necessity of swapping to a whole other set of buttons to mash.. we can all pretend that its no bother and if you feel it is you can play another game blah blah.. but anyone who has played other mmos know that its not how many buttons you mash or how fast, its about the actual button you push.and @mindcircus.1506 the whole thing is automated, otherwise you would be making your own macros like old school mmorpg's or even typing out movements like text based rpgs
  22. But as an option you don't have to play with casual settings.. it just makes it more accessible for others.. im not saying lets hardcode the game to EZ mode.. im just saying i want some of the friends I've made in here that are scared to death of raiding because of the complexity/difficulty of the bar being so high that unless you push a million keys your going to hinder more than benefit the group.. no one really wants to be carried.
  23. Its interesting how so many of you are pro options, yet none of you are in support of the option of macros or helping mechanically challenged players to play better by allowing a different (or option) in key mechanics. And to say there are a few if not only 1 class where you can spam one button and still play optimally only proves my point.. Everyone should be able to play ALL classes optimally.. and it is possible to please all if not the majority, that's what good coders, options and beta tests are for.
