  1. I don't have any Charr anymore but the one that I did have fully fleshed out before she met an untimely demise would have been happy to see those old wounds healed since, like Crecia, her parent(s) had ties to the Flame Legion and she, like Crecia, was an Elementalist.

She'd be less thrilled, but not surprised, to know what Bangar is up to though. She had a feeling it wasn't if but when he'd pull the stunt he did.

"Rumors of my incapacitation have been grossly exaggerated."

Decided to try to make a bit of an effort to post more around these parts (and make more productive/positive posts in stark contrast to my prior posting history). Used a guide to (re)make Zojja as close to her in-game appearance as possible. Her specific eye and skin colors aren't available so I'm working with the closest colors available based on a guide I used on the archived forums.

If I can stop being distracted and/or losing my muse to volatile mental/emotional instabilities I plan on doing a series of stories involving her and my other GW2 OC's.

    This.

Don't get me wrong. I'd also like to see more armor that lets Asura ears flop around freely but I'd rather Anet prioritize that time/resources into other things, like keeping within the Living World release cadence.

While I agree that it would be nice for Anet to do the same for The Consul's Tomb POI like they did for The Hammer's Hoard POI, there are more efficient, guaranteed, and less grindy ways to get keys.

It's not necessarily for keys. You also get 25 map currency, which at least in Jahai is very handy -- meant it only took me a few days and learning a very efficient map completion path to get 750 currency for Requiem skins. I don't know the Keep well enough yet to know what I want out of map completion there but that currency has to be handy. And some people are completionists.

I definitely agree. For me, map completion is a combination of completionist goals as well as for character story/role playing reasons. It's nice to get rewards from doing map completion but that's not why I do it.

  5. @Gop.8713 said:I don't really see how this is an issue. Map completion is being tied to events in the map. If you don't want to do the events, the items that give you map completion are tradeable on the tp. So players have multiple paths to achieve the goal of map completion and one of those paths is actually, y'know, playing the map. So where's the issue? It's not like some nefarious players swooped in and scooped up all the available items leaving the rest of us with no ready means for acquiring more. I'd say this choice represents a lesson well learned, so kudos to anet :)

If you actually read the thread you'd see that many people have brought up why this is an issue.

If you did read the thread then let me say the following: just because it's not an issue for you doesn't mean there's no issue.

  6. Gonna have to agree with OP on this. I got around to doing map completion after the story and I was only able to get the last POI because there was a Mesmer offering ports to the POI in question (always tip your Mesmers, btw). Having to wait around for meta events just to do map comp isn't fun. It wasn't fun back in the Orr days (it still isn't fun if you're doing Core Tyria map completion) and it's not fun now. The only difference between Orr maps and this map is that people still do Orr map metas on a semi-frequent basis. Unless Anet has some long term plans for this new map then getting map comp done will be very difficult when the next Living World episode drops.

  7. In reference to other communities I'm a part of (which aren't that many since I don't play a lot of games), I'm going to have to say that things are mixed in terms of how "great" the community is. If you're playing with friends and/or a guild, you're going to have a much better time than someone who's running solo in anything. Also, like others have said, the more cooperative nature of the game does eliminate more toxic elements but they still manifest themselves in other ways. Overall, I think the experience is better in game than it is in online communities.

Additionally, online communities for this game, like the forums and the GW2 sub-Reddit, aren't a reasonable metric to determine how "great" a community is because most players don't actively participate in them. Most are playing the game and will likely never set foot in such communities, which I don't blame them for because nine times out of ten I often regret posting and even browsing those communities. Based on my experiences, the forums usually amount to non-constructive/deconstructive complaining about the game and multiple threads asking for the game to be like every other MMO on the market while the GW2 sub-Reddit is mostly flavor-of-the-month memes and clique-like nonsense that you either conform to for upvotes or get downvoted to oblivion.

Between those two, there really isn't a more middle ground, level-headed community for this game, which is a shame. It's either one bad extreme or the other and that, in my opinion, hurts the image of the game.

tl;dr - the community in game is a lot better than the online/forum/sub-Reddit communities so long as you're playing with friends and/or a guild.
