  1. Thanks for the communication!

Echoing calls to re-look at Mechanical Genius please. The complete removal of the grace period is seriously affecting gameplay. I have no problem with the intended penalty in terms of cd increase, but the Mech's AI makes this really un-fun in its current form. So either increasing the radius threshold and/or giving us even a few seconds of grace period would go a long way here. Thanks!

Or you know don't set auto on all your Mech Skill and use it appropriately rather than just let it spam off cooldown. Before the auto pet skill update, we mechanist use to press their skill manually. Its nice to do it again. Plus for stationary boss fight nothing much changes anyway, Its mostly punish player in pvp and wvw for overextending your mech from you. I rather have my mech stat at 100% because the 50% stat reduction penalty is far more punishing than higher cooldown on its skill.

I've never had my Mech skills set to auto and have always used them manually - I enjoy playing it that way. But even with stationary boss fights, if you get knocked-back, teleported etc. (yeah, gitgud I know) or have stop-start action where mobility is key, or where there are multiple targets then the removal of the grace period hurts here.

I have zero issues with the cd penalty, or the old stat penalty - they are sensible changes to balance the class, but the current MG mechanic is hard punishing in PvE. I can understand this implementation in competitive modes, but this feels like one where the PvE version needs to be a bit more forgiving (moreso considering the AI of the mech).

  3. Hard agree with OP. Prior to 6/27 patch there was some grace time allowed with mechanical genius. Now I lose it for a few seconds just running off from a standing start, because the Mech takes time to  catch up with you. I'm fine with how it has been re-worked in principle, but even a 6s grace period would fix the issue for me at least.

Other things that would help here include a bit more generosity on the radius threshold. Oh and fixing the AI so that the Mech doesn't 'go rogue' during fights (Octovine is notorious for this).

  4. Hi - I've seen several other threads about the Spirit Strings not dropping from W3 KC. I have attempted this multiple times with various methodologies to no avail. I note there were some release notes back in 2020 claiming to have fixed this issue but clearly it still exists. Curious to know if anyone else is still experiencing this issue?

This is very good to hear. I have a local supplier for PC parts that I've gone to for years, but they're really taking advantage of demand and have jacked their prices up - won't be using them again, but it's reassuring to hear you guys are being fair to your customers!

  6. @Junkpile.7439 said:Sure you probably can get big boost in empty map, but when fps is low even big boost doesn't really help that much. New gpu probably doesn't help at all. My 5700xt clocks won't go over 600mhz when i play gw2. Game just doesn't use gpu at all.

Oh I know a new GPU won't really help things all that much, but I need a new system and have other games where a new GPU will be an advantage, especially as I game at 1440p.

Might be worth checking the post out or reaching out to the op if still interested. Also if you did go ahead with the zen3, would love to know your feedback!

Thanks, I'll have to keep my eye out for that! As for me, the chips sold out quick - no chance to get one. Given I'm looking for a new system I'm going to wait to see what the reviews are for the new AMD GPUs also. The aim is to upgrade by the end of this year and, of course, happy to let you guys know how it goes and what performance looks like!

  8. @Mack.3045 said:Ah fair enough ! If you end up with the ryzen 5 5600x let me know how it performs in GW2 for you :)

Sure thing! Kinda nervous about it all though, I've had Intel machines going back at least 20 years...but AMD really seem to be the ones trying to progress technology, rather than squeezing/rinsing the same platform year on year!

Thanks, yes I'd heard of this but hadn't got around to trying it. I do need an upgrade though - I crash frequently when gaming and I've narrowed it down to an issue with the motherboard and/or CPU - they're so old it's not worth looking to replacing these parts.

  10. @Emberstone.2904 said:It looks like roughly 20% more single core performance than the 7700K/8700K-type chips that many people are still hanging onto, unless you were one of the folks who bought a 10900K then it really isn't a worthy upgrade.

Even so, world event and WvW zergs can drop below 20 FPS even on monster computers, and 20% more than 20 FPS is still only 24 FPS or so. Granted this is an oversimplification of how PC's actually process things, but it still makes the point: it's not going to be a huge difference just because of how Guild Wars 2 is.

No matter how good your hardware is, world event and WvW zergs are still going to tank your framerate well below your typical average.

Thanks for this - I'm currently running an ageing i7 4790k, so any upgrade is likely to help here!

  11. @lare.5129 said:you can relax and bu any cpu and any card. No matter that you buy on wvw or any other mass action wiht maximum setting you will get fantastic frame drop fall ..So you will anyway prevent get some compromises whit settings.

I guess it's more about minimising the need to compromise with settings changes - I know that, whatever I end up getting, I'll have to dial things back a bit.

  12. Hi allWas just wondering if anyone was considering a Zen 3 purchase in the near future, given the reported single thread gains over Intel. Or would it be worth sticking with Intel? Thinking about an upgrade soon so comments/advice would be appreciated! I'm not an expert on benchmarks etc. but this is one of many articles that are making me think about switching https://www.bit-tech.net/news/tech/cpus/the-amd-ryzen-5-5600x-beats-intel-in-passmark-single-thread-benchmarks/1/
