  1. So the Wizard's vault reward for completing 4 dailies says that it gives 30 astral shards, however, I think it only rewards 20. Can someone confirm if the tooltip is wrong or the number of AS rewarded is wrong. It seems to keep changing as well. I swear sometimes I get 30 and sometimes 20.

the data shows the overall value of the login rewards is far higher on the new system than it has ever been before: for example you used to only get 14g/week, and now you can get 40g/week. it seems most of what was removed were items that were unpopular to begin with.

from what i've experienced the black lion box was seen as a wasted reward. most of the time it gave something useless like a merchant or repair canister, and eventually they give so many black lion salvage kits that you end up with an entire bank tab full of them.

I'm not saying you can't earn more on the new system, though I'm not sure that the 40g/week holds since there are caps on a lot of the items and that cap doesn't appear to reset for about at least 11 weeks (it said 75 days when I first looked at the specials tab). I'm saying they massively increased the threshold effort necessary to get just level with what we did before. I don't always have time to play, and I'd rather play than go hunting for dailies. Before I was able to take the daily achievement or leave it. Now I find myself having to grind it, and that turns me off a bit.

As far as the black lion box being a waste, I'd agree with you if I had another option for black lion salvage kits than the gem store. Unfortunately they decided to include the junk rewards from the black lion chest rather than the ones people like.. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  3. Can we get all the stuff we used to get from the monthly login rewards re-included in the wizard vault rewards list. Specifically the black lion box we had 4 of per month and mystic forge stones.

Also, I think the amount of astral shards awarded from logging in for 28 days should be sufficient to at least get the items we previously did.

Under my calculation on the new wizard's vault, to buy just the stuff that still offfered:

Item  Total/Mo                AS Cost               Total AS
    Mystic coins  20 9 180
    Laurels 35 10 350
    Tomes of knowledge 10 8 80
    Random black lion goods  4
    2000 luck 40 6 240
    a random exotic item 1
    Mystic clovers 7 60 420
    Obsidian shards  8 50 400
    2% gold increase 2 1000 2000
    Transmutation charge 3 8 24
    Bag of celebration 1
Bag of crafting materials (Fine) 2
    Total     3694

That's 739 days of AS login rewards (the 5 AS per login) in the new system to replace what we got just from logging in under the old system.  57 days of doing 3 of the 4 daily objectives EACH DAY to make up for what was previously gained from just logging in.  Weeklies obviously add to this, but when you also figure that you lost the chests from doing the previous dailies, this is a massive step back.

This is also separate from the New Daily/Weeklies topic, so please don't merge. I'm not worried about the individual daily events, it's the loss/massive reduction of access to items/crafting components we consistently had before from the monthly login rewards cycle.

I think that the rewards are based on what target you attack and how much resistance there is. I get the feeling that in some scenarios nobody gets a gold reward and silver or bronze is the maximum possible.

If that's the case then this is a nerf to XP in WvW. Capturing a tower used to be like 440xp base (I think). Now it looks like bronze is 220xp, silver 330xp, and gold 440xp.  With the 100% experience booster running, even including the extra xp potion you sometimes get for a tower capture, I'm getting less xp than I was before if I'm stuck with silver and bronze xp rewards.

  5. Running with a zerg, killing guards and players, building siege engines, manning siege engines, taking down wall/gates, and hopping on the lord as soon as possible.  Happy BRONZE participation.

What the heck man. What does it take to get a gold capture participation? My understanding this wasn't supposed to be a DPS check, but a measure of how active you were.

If it's not worth it to you, then don't do then.

Again, if you don't value what you get from the collections enough to spend the gold, then don't.

Unlike in the past, you now do have the optional cheaper TP precursors.

You are missing the entire point of forums - to complain about Devs' poor gaming implementation choices and how we would do it differently.

  7. My whole point is that I am actively discouraged from doing the achievements because it is such a gold sink with no reward (other than a few AP (9 total - for all three collection - not even 1/5th of a festival annual AP reward). It just isn't worth it. I actually want to do the collections. But I can't justify it. That's poor game design. And most of it is the ill-thought out T2 collection. I mean, seriously???

  8. I believe it is about time we re-vamp these collections to be more in-line with their worth.  Currently the Lover collection costs over 350g worth of just mats (not to mention the time investment for doing all the achievements) to complete.  However, the Lover is available on the trading post for 64g (sell price) immediately, or as low as 46g (buy price) if you don't mind waiting for the order to fill.  Ridiculous imbalance.  Just the cost of the thick leather (3430 pieces) itself that goes into the precursor crafting is worth over 85g.  And that is a single component. There are very few precursor collections that are actually worth doing. I really shouldn't be incentivized to skip a collection for buying the item on the TP.  It is basically telling us just pay to win.

MF in silverwastes only works for Lost Bandit Chests. It does not work for the Vinewrath reward drops (or pretty much anything else on that map either).

Don't 5 of those drop from defeating the vinewrath?

This will lead to the event failing and probably OP shifting over to complaining about scaling up the event while also not admitting that it was their own suggestion which lead to the problem in the first place. Will it actually lead to people participating more? No, it will just move people to some other high RoI content.

Actually, I'd be fine with the event failing if people didn't collect. Also, this event doesn't scale, so not an issue.

The coins are worthless after clearing out all the unlocks.

Actually, the coins always provide experience, and thus spirit shards with enough, so they are not completely worthless.

Magic Find is worthless for the event drops so that is a pointless suggestion as well.

They do it for the silverwastes meta so they can do it for this one as well. So wrong again.

What does "piked" mean in this context?

Someone who doesn't participate but takes up space in an event to get a reward. For example, people who just sat in Dragonstorm without actually attacking the bosses and waited until the end of the event to swoop down and get the reward. Or someone who just parks at the beginning of a dungeon/fractal and lets everyone else complete for him so they get the reward. Generally, the second isn't as common as we can kick those individuals from the instance in GW2, but the term would still apply.

So, you mean that if i arrive a bit late i should not bother helping because i would get nothing. Yes, i'm sure that would be perfectly fine.

If you notice, I proposed decreasing reward for limited participation. Not nothing.  I only suggested nothing for those that didn't participate at all.  Additionally, I proposed a second alternative in that those that participate get increased magic find.  Neither of those options lead to the conclusion that you should not bother. In fact both options would suggest you participate to the extent you can to maximize your gains, even if it isn't what those that maximally participated get. Which is as it should be.

  13. The problem I am trying to address is ANet rewarding people for non-participative behaviors the same as those that do participate.  Either incentivize participation (add magic find bonus, better rewards, etc.) or punish non-participation (can't get rewards if don't participate, lower rewards, etc.). There have been several maps I've been on where people just park and go afk assuming people will complete the event, and no one does.

Additionally, I'm not really keen on collecting 10%+ of the coins per round when there are 50+ people in the map.  All it takes is everyone collecting between 3 and 5 coins per round (even less if you count the people on map not in squad) and people are too lazy to do that. I say, they shouldn't be rewarded for laziness as those that do participate.

  14. Since the Casino Blitz has become the most piked content since Dragonstorm was changed to require participation, I'm suggesting a change to pinata:

    1) a buff from participation in each of the casino blitz rounds that lets you do increasing damage to pinata - no participation, no damage. Ideally the buff would scale such that one round would let you get bronze on pinata, two rounds silver, and three rounds gold. I suggest a minimum of 10 coins required per round to get the buff for each round.
    OR
    2) 1% magic find for each coin collected.

That should alleviate somewhat the squads with, for example, 47 pikers and 3 collectors.

Yes. That's the reason I waited over 2 years to finally do it again on my second account.

How is it a must have? It just isn't.

It is if you want to keep up with end game content in any reasonable fashion. Unless you are content to be ported everywhere by a mesmer/thief with a skyscale.

Ah, but I'm polling forum posters. Not the whole GW community. As I said, to gauge if the general consensus here is that it's too grindy or just a few posters constantly repeating this mantra on various posts.

What surprises me is I'd think that forum people are the most likely to have multiple accounts. Having done skyscale on 2 account now, I definitely think it is too grindy. Especially since it is basically a must have nowadays.

  17. Here. I'll code it for you:

    Do while instance.assigned = false{
       If instance.timer <= 5.00 then instance=instance.next
           Else instance.assigned=true
    Loop

  19. As already stated here, 2fa is already required. Anytime your network information changes the game will require you to enter a code sent to your email address on file. I've had to do it just because I replaced a router.

Also not understanding the thing about not receiving texts. It literally states they are going to send texts to authenticate your login.  Unless, you have the app - which I don't either.  I don't want to give ANet access to my phone number, why would I give them access to my contacts, website activity, location data, phone data, etc. ad naseum that installing an app opens up.  All this talk about privacy and how not enabling 2fa is dumb, meanwhile you are actively giving up all your personal information to ANet to enable a 3rd factor for authentication.  I got one word for that - kitten!
