Continued thanks all for the feedback!
Just to address a few points on the first game which a few people have mentioned.
At around the 8 minute mark we're 3 at the mid node. I don't want to commit to far at this point as we don't need it (we have a double cap - close/mid). The thief pushes into mid where I've rotated (probably should have stayed close, but I wanted to support a tf if it happened). I see on the map at 7.49 the Rev starts to follow the thief, and as rev can rotate much faster to close (being both closer and having access to swiftness) I therefore decide to stay mid, which is why I go back to checking enemy spawn, not realising the rev hasn't followed the thief to home (not me blaming the rev btw, just my thought process). The map also doesn't show close point getting decapped until it is actually decapped to neutral which was odd in hindsight. This is why my rotation to close was slow here. I wasn't expecting to be going to close.
Regarding chasing Vaans at the start, I knew he hadn't rampaged yet, and I didn't want him to go round the corner and rampage then blindspot me. In hindsight I definitely should have got the cap instead, thanks for your feedback on this.
Some people have commented regarding losing caps during fights. This happens to me often when I get +d or 2v1'd, as I'd rather get out, reset and then recap the node if I think I can win the fight. For example at 9.40 when I've pressured Vaans off the point, and then get +d by the thief, I wasn't confident I could 2v1 on node against both the current number 9 on the EU leaderboard and a thief at the same time (not going to lie, probably can't). I felt like I could take and win the 1v1 against either so I drop back down once the thief has left and I've pressured him with the focus 4.
With leaving other people to take the 1v1s and rotate to another point myself, I think I just have trust issues there in relying on my team to win their 1v1s. I saw the ele had lost 1v1 to Vaans earlier do didn't feel like I could leave that 1v1, and wasn't confident the ranger would win a 1v1 based on how they were moving and kiting, so felt stuck between a rock and a hard place. I guess I was indecisive. One of the above suggestions was to rotate out, leave the ranger and let the ranger recap close on respawn, however given that Vaans had pushed close at start, I thought he would probably camp close once he had capped it (could easily have been wrong though). Again not me trying to put down my teammates, but that was my thought process at the time!
