You know what I find funny (ho ho, not ha ha) is so many people mad at these nerfs claiming they can no longer do hard solo OW content ...while pretentiously claiming that the reason they could do hard solo OW content before was due to "skill".

I mean, you either have it, or you don't ...if you don't then that's not the content you should be doing. Being carried by overpowered gear, class skills and traits does not make you 'skilled'.

To be clear, this is not a "gitgud" message, it's a "know your limitations" message. If you were previously able to walk yourself into a group of veteran -level enemies, solo world bosses, or do other 'group' content with no fear of dying, how can you not see that as a problem?

Huh? The majority of people in here refer to themselves as casuals and are self-aware enough to admit that they don't possess a ton of skill.

I don't see any changes. I don't see why anyone would have expected any either. Anet never indicated that the time between Beta 4 and Release was going to incorporate any more player feedback.

Good grief, do any of you get tired over the insane hoops you jump through to defend ANY objectively bad decision by Anet? It was a BETA - meaning a phase purposely created to TEST FEATURES on and GATHER FEEDBACK from. What do you think that means exactly?

The excuse you farted out on the spot would've been hilarious if you weren't meaning for it to be taken seriously...

They did warn us I guess, that changes were coming to make "breathing room" for the new specs.  😑

I mean, sure, yeah. But I thought it was just going to be nerfs to traits, which I was and still am all for, even as a player with a renegade character that utilized the Battle Scars trait.

I didn't personally use it, but the deletion of rune of torment's passive was uncalled for though. There were so many comments about it throughout the years that offered up ideas on how to balance it a tad bit (such as nerfing it by 33%-50%, or tacking on the passive of outputting less damage), but nope! Delete! And that's the thing that should worry and/or annoy players more. The fact that they didn't even try to balance a feature, but just outright delete it. But oh, well, I guess. "lol git gud" is the only response any discussion around it is met with.

Now, i'm not saying that Tormenting Runes didn't had it comming but what frustrates me is the way they did it. Regeneration is about the most boring boon ever especially if you dont have any healing power and they even put an ICD on it. They could have just reduced the base heal. 171 without any ICD was ridiculous but droping that down to about the level of necro life leach or maybe a small ICD on the heal, or a combination of the two would have been fine. The current itaration makes the tier 6 bonus pretty much useless in groups were someone else with more healing power is covering Regeneration.

This is where I'm at. But it's either "THIS RUNE CHANGE RUINED THE GAME FOR ME" or "THIS CHANGE IS FINE" and no in between. The rune's healing could have been lowered when attacking players, or, hell, lowered altogether in every game mode. But to outright delete the effect from the game and replace it with a redundant boon? Idiotic to say the least, but nobody wants to approach this in an unbiased way and with a shred of nuance on these forums it seems.

God forbid developers of an MMO want players to play with each other more often. lol

So why not, I don't know, develop OW pve content to reflect the difficulty that was ramping up in IBS then? You needed to actually play around enemy mechanics or face being one-shot or whatever else. But maybe you didn't play that, otherwise you'd know about it. There's also instanced pve content - the only pve content that truly matters - that requires you to engage with enemy mechanics. But maybe you don't play that either? It'd be nice if you somewhat knew what you were talking about and argued in good faith rather than being an annoying contrarian against the self-sustain of quality-of-life builds in OW content that was irrelevant in content that actually matters.

The nerfs are only like 3 hours old, you can't have played it so much you already say you regret buying the expansion..

    Play first and talk later.

Sure, but judging by how sustain was nerfed across the board for most classes, it's kind of killing the excitement people had for this expansion, thus the thread the OP made.

I had a build I was excited for with harbinger, based around torment runes for sheer survivability. I like to play facetank-y builds despite the game being balanced heavily out of the favor of facetanking attacks. But it's the only playstyle that works for me, because my brain's slow and deals with too much sensory overload to dodge enemies' attacks. The only accessible type of playstyle for me is facetank-y, solo builds.
I was really excited for that harbinger build, spent a lot of karma trying to get the recipe for the runes, so I could use my watchwork pick to gather the materials to craft it with.

Now harbinger's just wasted potential to me that I'll never touch. Genuinely depressing. And especially with all the other nerfs, most of my characters are now worthless to me, just like that, ruined in an instant. What a comforting precedent to set against accessibility for casual folks like me.

I'm so sorry that this change killed your excitement towards your builds you had planned. My excitement is in the gutter too after these changes. I don't even want to play my Revenant (whom I solely used to casually explore the world, do HPs, and help others with) anymore and it's unfortunate because I LOVE the class and adored that specific character. Oh, well. What can we even do at this point? 😕
