  1. I broke my mouse hand a while back and it didn't stop me from playing. I changed A and D to turn instead of strafe and mapped utility amd elite to E, Q, shift+E and shift+Q, heal on C. I would set the mouse in the centre of the screen and enabled the ground targeting to stop at max range. I played staff/staff mirage and dont belive I missed out on much during the months my hand was healing.

  2. Making racial skills better than the proffesion skills would make optimal builds include race skills, which would mean that many people wouldn't pick the race they like, but the race with the best skills. That this will not happen was shown when the devs changed the HT temple when people realized that a sylvari racial could be used to skip some mechanic.

On the front of pet skins: giving them would make it harder to balance pet specialisations, because of the "i bought a skin, now i can't use it because it got nerfed" argument or making pets stronger because they would be more proffitable. It would also show favour towards pet specialisations as they would have more costumisation options than non-pet specialisations.

Having raid group composition dictated by buff/boon coverage is bad. Blizzard found that out somewhere after Woltk if I remember correctly, when the great stat and buff homogenisation took place (I might have missed an expansion).

On the other hand its mostly just in player's minds that all these compositions are required at all in this game. We dont have some hard raiding here. I did a W1 training run not long a go. When tank asked about toughness at the start, a few of the dps had quite decent toughness and our ele dps had so much toughness, the tank had a problem getting all that toughness together 🙂 We 1 shot VG, Gorseval we failed once so people got a grasp on the immobilising spirit mechanics and Sabetha took a few tries so all players grasped the cannon mechanic. You dont need to min max for this.

While I absolutely agree that roles are not good for the game, the problem is the shift in game design from HoT raids to the EoD strikes. HoT raids were designed for groups without specific roles, but the players introduced them in order to cheese and skip certain mechanics by healing or outdpsing. The greens at VG being an example for the former and Gorseval for the latter. This shift in group composition was of course noticed by anet and they took it into account when designing later content most notably the EoD strikes that are very hard if not impossible be completed without these roles. With this, we now have a major discrepancy in the core philosophy of encounter desigh and consequentially proffesion desigh. Going back to the original design philosophy would require a major redesign and in some parts direct undoing of design choices made over the last few years, which is just not possible at this point.

That depends totaly how they implement it.

If you for example have to buy a mech skin to be able to reduce the visibilty of other peoples mechs then it is targeted at none mech players aswell.

So players would have to pay to change the skin of another players mech or reduce their visual noise?

The only way to reduce visual noise of the mech is to properly balance mechanist, thus reducing the number of players who play mechanist.

  5. I don't think giving mech skins is a good idea.

    1. Mechanist is an elite specialisation meaning it's 1/27th of all specialisations. Giving mech skins would mean mean that they would have to come up 26 or at least 8, if they would do this only for EoD specs, additional things that are simmilar like different auras or spell animations, since most don't have a pet to skin. Otherwise this would imply favouritism towards one elite spec.

    2. It would make mechanist more profitable compared to other specs. This would increase anets interest for as many players as possible to play mechanist, severely affecting the balance of elite spec.

    3. At the same time it would give mechanist players a solid argument against any potential nerfs. Something in the form of: "I have payed for a mech skin and now I can't use it because mechanist sucks."

  6. I would just like an enemy that is pure evil. No redeeming qualities, no tragic back story, just evil. A simple and straightforward story of good versus evil.

I'm pretty sure the first part will be an insurrection by the kestrels in Arborstone, since all we hear is how it has become a den of iniquity 😆 Then, since the domain of the winds is probably going to be the next part, we go there and find out it's under the domination of some tyrant and we kick his butt.

Well , there's a notion around here that denying people a qol effect , will force them to join content

Noone is forcing anyone to do anything. They are offered a chance to improve their quality of life by engaging in content. If they don't want to engage in content they can't have the qol that brings. I don't see a problem in that.

Well we must find a pattern to why new people are discourage from joining in the first place, rather than expecting  the existing community to step out their shell , by denying them a qol effect

Are new people discouraged thought? I believe a new player would think that those with legendary equipment have been playing for a long time and have earned it.
