But I do think that it is not a bad thing that you sometimes have to step out of your comfort zone and widen your horizon in order to get the most prestigious items in the game. After all, if we look at where you can get the most legendary items, open world is leading. To get legendary weapons you have to play mostly open world content, plus the two accessories and the amulet.
But I have yet to see raiders, WvW or PvP players crying for days that they have to play open world content to get legendary weapons or trinkets.

Exactly. Legendaries are scattered across all game modes to encourage players to play all game modes. GW2 doesn't FORCE players to do anything, it ENCOURAGES whith QoL, utility and skins.

Gw2 isn't solitaire, there really is a lot of game mechanics to learn, and new players should have some means to cycle through categories of random tips such as when waiting for boss/event to spawn, if they wanted to learn such tips.

I would say that if someone is waiting for a boss or event to start, he is definitely not a new player. If a new player is waiting for a boss/event to start, someone has told him to wait and he didn't need a tooltip.

I believe the lack of tooltips and such stuff was an important part of building the GW2 community into nice and friendly community it is. People have to work together and communicate to find out what items are and do, with the wiki being the depository of that knowlage. Why add a tooltip feature, when you can ask in the map chat and someone will explain, point you in the right direction, help or at least tell you how the /wiki feature works.

  3. If they did make an open world legendary armour, I can see them making something like an item that you have to charge at every "place of power" in open world. That's about a hundred locations. Basically you would have to redo a lot of the acheavements in the general tab. This would be the level of effort required to get an open world legendary armour.

  4. Open world is not just about world bosses and metas. There are also jumping puzzles, mini dungeons, exploration and a whole body bunch of outer stuff. If they would make a legendary armour acheavement collection it would have to reflect all these aspects. It would be simmilar to the skyscale collection, only longer, more expensive and would have to cover most of the open world maps.

Your proposal, that world bosses would drop tokens is far too pasive and would make the legenadry armour feel more like a byproduct of doing world bosses, rather than something you have earned by actively playing the game. Killing world bosses would be a part of the collection, but there would have to be a lot more. The raid armour collection requiers you to complete HoT metas multiple times in order to unlock it, so the rest of the collection would have to be equal to raiding in terms of challenge and time investment.

  5. I've always considered infinite tools as a long term investment. Limited tools cost money or karma. Granted, it's not a lot, but it does add up over time and in the long run, you save money by buying them. It also saves you time and inventory space as you don't have to worry about running out and that's a big quality of life improvement. Switching them between alts is a minor inconvenience compared to the convenience they offer.

Do check again. I salvage soulbound stuff all the time (e.g., before deleting my keyrunner).

Soulbound to another character probably means that items soulbound to one character cannot be taken out of the bank by another character and since you can't salvage items in the bank, only the character the item is soulbound to, can salvage those items.

They also changed the leveling reward items a few months back, so they can now be salvaged.

  7. The forged hoverboard is already a glider and it's awsome 😎

As for a new mount, I would go for a sand worm/sandshark/dredge drill, that would let you go underground in order to avoid agro in enemy heavy zones like orr and HoT maps. Add a few areas that can only be accessed by that mount like the jackal portals and you're golden.

  8. No. Sorry they don't. The only way to get some statues back is to buy a skin, sell it for gold, exchange gold for gems, buy black lion chest keys and open the bl chests, since they all contain at least one statue.

On this note: you can exchange a bl statue for a 1g trash item, meaning that it's usualy cheaper to exchange for those 1g coins and buying the skin from the AH. It's almost always cheeper to buy from the TP and saving the statues for gemstore exclusive items or at least be aware of the 1statue=1g.

  9. Sounds like they are more of a currency dump than a long term item. It's typical for them to add more achievements than necessary in order to allow players to choose which ones to do and they added additional consumables so that the one time currency doesn't clutter the player's inventory. Making them reusable, especially if they have BiS potential, would probably do too much damage to the food and utility economy.

  10. My biggest issue with proffesion swaping i FFXIV was that you had to level each proffesion separately. Effectively this ment that with the abundance of xp from the core story alone, you were forced to pick another proffesion to level, when the first was maxed out or waste xp. At the same time you couldn't continue the story if the current proffesion was underleveled. This would lead to threads simmilar to this one only the question would be "Why do I have to level up a proffesion to continue the story?"

And it's not like the stories don't have any replay value. There are many acheavements that require multiple playthroughs. I doubt you managed to get out of the cell before Rama released you the first time around 😉

  11. It has been pointed out that GW2 is not very good at explaining things to players. As a resault it has a very helpfull community with in depth  guides and one of the best wikis. This is alo why the game has the feture where you can type /wiki and what you want to know about and it will open the wiki page in browser, or use google to find the sites for specific parts of the game. The downside is that you player need to have a web browser open in the back ground and have to alt+tab alot.

As for making gold and crafting, it's more about raw materials than actual products and is therefore more about farming.

I played wow and ffxiv, but gravitated back to GW2 because it has the better core gameplay(combat), no subscription and no vertical progression, resaulting in the feeling that the game "waits" for you, if you don't play it for a while.

  12. Gear below exotic is a major source of luck (magic find) as well as tier 5 and 6 mats and ectoplasm in case of rates, that are used to craft ascended gear in form of ectoplasm refinement.

It's about keeping us busy with complex tasks, which also partly answers the second question. Specific stat combinations on ascended weapons and armour can be swaped in the mystic adding another step to crafting, while accessories make you play the new content.

The AR means infusions, which in turn are keeping most of the metas and festival gambling alive, so I doubt any changes are forthcoming.

As a non-progressive mmo, there is no vertical progression, only new stat combinations and utilities that resault in the power creep. The jade bot was the first stat increase since they introduced ascended gear I believe.

Character progression involves the story and map exploration, while account progression involves masteries, acheavements and accountwide and accountbiund stuff. There is also the player progression that is not quanifiable in the game and is based on skill, knowlage and understanding of the game mechanics or something like that.

  13. At this point, legendaries are more about convenience and quality of life, than the skins.  Account wide, stat selectable, free sigil and infusion extraction, free tranutasion. Stat-whise they are equal to ascended and most people assume that your weapon is ascended anyway, so why not use the skin you like. GW2 is a non-progressive mmorpg, so there is and will never be better gear than ascended, so there is no "epic" gear players can aspire to.

There are however epic skins 😁

  14. They do realize that the bridge events don't happen during the main meta event right and that they are on a 15min timer.

    Quoted from wiki:

Each bridge event restarts approximately 15 minutes after the last success.

Once the Break the Crystal Dragon meta event has started, the bridge events will cease to appear.

  15. It's not like having a subscription means that those MMOs don't have a "gem store" as well and having payed services and QoL.

The worst example is the retainer system in FFXIV, where a bigger bank and more AH listings increases your subscription by 2€ a month for each upgrade you have.

The endgame gear threadmill never made much sense to me. Why waste hours of subscription time raiding to get better gear, when you can do something else while waiting a few months for a patch or expention, buy the gear for peanuts and easily clear the content. As for the trinity, GW2 improved on the model and has a QUADRINITY: healer, alacrity, quickness and dps 🤢

The subscription model reminds me of a hostage situation in a way, where the game says: "We have the character you have invested a lot of time and money into and you have to pay us if you want to see it." GW2 has been running on expantions and micro transactions alone for ten years, so this model works.

    P.S.

GW2 has different 7 mounts, while what you reffered to as mount is just one mount with a hundred different skins.
