  1. y'all obviously don't know about Red Resign in guild wars 1....

the community figured out if red team always resigns you can farm rewards extremely fast. it's pretty obvious anet thinks the community will do it again so they haven't added surrender.

what do you think? do you have access to weapons grade copium and think it wouldn't happen again?

  2. every class has at least one, if not multiple daily AT viable builds. we are actually in a surprisingly good and diverse meta. if you can play properly you have a lot of options.

meta is only really strict in MAT, and even there there is a ton of stuff played if you watch more than the finals. there's so much fun stuff to play on every class rn, it's pretty great.

You're correct as they beat me without ever having a chance to learn anything other than just getting killed fast.

This is the Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD) theory (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zone_of_proximal_development) and it explains the underlying reason the current queue system is bad.

My experience in PvP is low so yeah, I would like to fight people at a similar skill level so I can learn and develop, and when those people become a snore to beat then I want to advance and fight people on my new skill level, repeat ad nausea.

I find it deeply insulting that your entire argumentation is based on insults and what I can only assume is a deliberate misunderstanding of the context since there is a lot of ad hominem based on imagined hypocrisy. You tell me to go watch some videos? I tell you to go read some textbooks on developmental psychology, especially the ZPD, and I know that we'll get a similar understanding of the subject since we both lack the knowledge to understand it properly. That's how learning things work. You need to understand the level before the material you wish to learn to even have a chance of understanding it else it'll just be too frustrating for you and you'll quit. This is exactly the process that the queue system fosters now.

my guy, watching a video is a substitute for a teacher or peer with more knowledge. it's literally in the wiki article. you will move from the small circle in the diagram into the next circle.

you will honestly be surprised by the amount of people running meta builds, or YouTube builds even in unranked. many people have done this, and it gives them a big edge over people who don't. PvP in games is way harder than PvE, and in old games it's usually full of old players so getting outside knowledge is a must, especially when the population is small and it is for PvP.

as for ad hominem, nope. low gold players are pretty terrible at the game. the gap between gold and actual plat AT players is massive. the average gold player has just learnt a build and is semi spamming skills. like, how hard are the npcs in the lobby for you? can you 1v1 svanir consistently? does the bear kill u? I can ask you these questions and you will I bet become offended, why because I'm saying you are terrible at the game? but your whole thread is about being unable to fight anyone in unranked who knows how to play their class as bad as you do. yet you don't want to watch videos or learn about your class to make your experience easier and more fun.

well, I guess your only option then is to lose matches constantly until your account MMR gets low enough that the matchmaker can find you those players. however with the game being as old as it is, and the fact people learn about their classes in other gamemodes you gotta know that there are not a lot of those players. also I would suggest only playing stronghold because the player skill level there is much lower, although the Q times are long.

This is just arguing semantics at this point. I could have written high-placed players and then you'd have been arguing that I was too vague. Plat or low gold makes no difference. I'm placed against players who vastly outskill me, which prevents me from learning since no matter what I do it's countered and/or wasted, and that kills any desire I have to advance further because I have to face an unscalable wall.

if you're extending it to even low gold, it seems like you just don't want to fight players who know what all their skills do and use them somewhat efficiently. you learn this in both endgame PvE and WvW, and also the game is over 10+ years old so most players have been playing their character for over a year.

you might just want to fight 'my first PvP game Andy' every game, but honestly there aren't a lot of those players. usually they peepo die and go back to PvE to 11111 npcs and get ressed by Braham in the story.

look, I commend you for trying, but if low gold feels like a god, I suggest you look up a YouTube guide for a build for the class of your choice and try and learn it's buttons. you'll have more fun and success than waiting for the matchmaker to give you a team of people who can't move and click their skills at the same time. you'll probably find out those players you've been fighting arnt as good as you thought either. most of them will just be spamming buttons.

The queue system in this game is horrible. I would rather wait longer and have fun fights than get in quickly and then get stomped because I've been matched against randoms that all have Plat or similar when myself and the team are completely unranked.

It's discouraging and makes me go, "Yeah, I never want to PvP ever." The matchmaking is killing the system to satisfy a small portion of the player base, which ironically means that they'll have to wait even longer in the end as they chase all new players away due to being a wall to their enjoyment. Care less about the veterans and focus on the new players who are the ones that will "inherit" the system once the veteran players leave it and they will.

If the veteran players have to wait for half an hour+ to fight the same team over and over again, good, get them out of Unranked for a while, it's only benefits the system as right now their presence actively discourages people from ever advancing from Unranked to Ranked.

how do you even know the players you are fighting in unranked are plat (top 100 players for NA btw there are like 90 plats in the region so running into a team of them is unlikely)?

are you sure you aren't just running into WvW or low gold players? because both are going to look pretty scary to a new player. I mean, I've killed an entire team on rifle mecha before...

I know I get all my WvW buddies into unranked as a team and farm noobs for the wizard vault dailies, because it's the only mode where we can play together in PvP and those dailies are easy. many WvW players I know aren't even playing ranked this season at all, so definitely aren't plat, but they do drop into unranked for wizard vault things, or when the content is dead.

so yeah? are you even sure these people are top 100 gods of PvP? or just people who know what all their buttons do and have a good build and some practice?

  6. we are so close to achieving peak pvp forum

the bolas complaints were really the herald of things to come

the treb evangelists are here now, treb is a real class and actually OP so your stupid not to reroll to it when kylo come up. yep

in all seriousness tho, I have encountered players, often thieves who would actually be more useful on the treb all game. so the lower down the ladder you go the better the treb becomes, and it does become worth using.

once when I was getting an account to bronze (actually harder than getting plat honestly) I got so low in the ranking that just auto attacking people with warrior rifle would farm people. using a treb would probably uninstall their game

Hahaha you say bad builds.. tell me champ, what is a good rev build, becuase heralds and vindis are clearly owning atm. In-fact more revs are going over to higher sustain builds, like mine, becuase power is not worth the effort when warrior, necros and gaurdians are face tanking like champs. Lost count how many good power revs Ive watched get destroyed in arena off DHs.. blocks and all.

post your high sustain mace/axe shortbow build that apparently is the new big rev sustain build everyone is moving too. good power revs dying to DH also sounds like an oxymoron kekekekekekeke.

EDIT: just noticed you said necro can facetank power rev... my friend in my wvw mains rev & I pvp with him, & I don't believe u. I actually don't think this is possible if the rev knows how to play.

So youre going on record saying that spamming blocks/invulns/counter takes as much skill as a dodge? I'd love to see the average SPB/virt on hammer cata, withought the crutch chain of easy sustain and random dodge fillers. Like, explain why plat level SPBs continually try to CC me when im loaded with stability? whats with that?, its like they are half asleep, on auto pilot, spamming their pve rotatation 😜

Huh? you want to see how a player would handle hammer cata, because u think they would miss blocks?

    https://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Catalyst_-_Power_Hammer_Cata

it has both earth shield, fortified earth, & stone on hammer. all blocks. the build has as many if not more blocks than spellbreaker. I doubt I would miss anything at all. considering cata is played in the MAT meta, & spellbreaker isn't I dare say I might be even easier to find success on cata.

so for your other point are blocks low skill compared to a dodge? honestly, both are pressing a button to avoid dmg. if you reactively cast the skill it's the same reaction time regardless of if it's evade block or a dodge. dodge is shorter, so you have to be more precise and with timing, but also has a far shorter cool down so you arnt punished as much as you are if you waste a 50sec cd invun. it's kinda swings & roundabouts honestly, & actually doesn't matter at all.

handicapping yourself by not running any blocks, evades, or invuns on your build actually doesn't make you a better player or more skilled at all. does it mean you have less tools to avoid dmg, yeah it does, and that does make it harder to play. one could say that playing a bad build against meta builds & farming them takes a lot of skill & is a good way to practice, but that's not what you're doing at all. you are playing a 2/10 handicapped both hands tied behind your back build and spending your time in a constant state of frustration that everyone else hasn't chosen to tie their hands behind their back too.

according to your take the act or taking shield over offhand axe on warrior actually makes you a less skilled player. this is up there with some of the worst pvp takes I have ever heard. if you equip sustain skills on your bar you just suck at the game, ahahah and then u say they should play hammer cata which had multiple blocks, ahahaha what on earth.

I wanna see a vod of the only good rev in pvp, none of those low skill glint heal, sword evading, gs blocking scrubs- just pure centaur shortbow power 🥳

My difeinition of attrition is fine I think. SPB has access to blocks, immune, multiple hard/soft CC which also reward stability and healing. The average SPB just weaves a dodge inbetween all the other mitigation, its not really a concious dodge. "Waiting out" all of the warriors mitigation is not viable, you actually have to be doing damage to even force that mitigation, and then wait it out. But then that leads back to the issue, SPB has more mitigation than most specs when it can lock you into a melee fight. We both know this is true, and why 99% of SPBs simply camp far all game. This is why I suggest SPB attrition race is not skillful, becuase it has so much, there are very few windows of downtime, unlike many other specs. Again, if that were not true, then it is on you to tell me why 99% of SPBS camp far all game. Let me put it like this, if SPB had vastly improved dodge recharge, and more of its mitigation came down to actual concious dodges, I would not have a single complaint about the spec. Currently, it is leaning on low skill mitigation.. the chaining together of immune/blocks which nion come down to a pve rotation.

But thats going off the point slightly. DH with high ranged threat, high melee threat, and block/unblockable.. is winning many of the attrition fights, and not in a skilled way, becuase like SPB, the DH is rewarded with mitigation/area denial for simply spamming ranged+traps, forcing people to use vital defensive tools from the outset (including dodge), while being exempt from that same condition itself. Part of this comes down to the fact that gaurdian in general, is based on front loaded boon spam for 0 extra effort. At-least catas had to combo, herald has upkeep to think about. Things like that make room for mistakes, compared to multiple specs that are litterally designed to be foolproof.

Skullgrinder and akeem are a thing now, so lets talk about how the game is. Being rewarded with that much damage from 1 ability is imo bad for the game. Its just like some weapons that have a high single power co ability. It leads to horrible game play, where 1 hit can turn the entire fight, despite the player dodging/mitigating 2 prior attempts. Skullgrinder is way too much of a failsafe, and along with general warrior mechanics, makes Czerker kitten to fight against, and quite frankly, boring to play as (IMO).

my guy everything isn't going to get nerfed down to core centaur tier just because u don't want to play a good build.

like, warrior isn't skillful because it takes a bar full of stances and a shield, but it would be skillful if it just had dodges. yeah, like centaur rev with no blocks or glint, wait I think I'm noticing a trend here. if you don't equip blocks and dmg immune no one else should? kekw

  9. hot join is good for getting people into the game

it's also good for them getting more used to pvp

also, they get to avoid the experience of being farmed at spawn for a whole game by my guild team while I heal them

    🫠

every week I make more unranked players quit pvp, but what am I supposed to do ArenaNet????? cmon

Now you have to ascend to god lvl player skill wise to carry/farm even high plats duo occasionally

    unironically, yes

the actual endgame is fighting naru and his duo basically every match. there are 130 plat accounts in NA. this is the game now.

the skill gaps are massive now. there are very few actually good players playing pvp, so if you want to be basically top 100 you need to be able to beat other plat players and not just cry when their duo is on the other team.

  11. I mean, people don't dodge gunflame... where the warrior lights up and shoots a massive glowing ball

why u think glowing light on spear will make people dodge? they wont

they will still get pulled into a trap bomb and die

so yeah, these changes will help players who are trying to improve and play better, but that's also not the same players who are crying about DH. so I mean, good suggestions, but even all of them together won't stop the tears 🥲

shifting goalposts when the thing people thought was definitely, positively, absolutely the thing that was causing them to lose the matchup gets nerfed, then they continue to get rolled but are unwilling to look inward. It's not specific to guardian, this is a class agnostic behavior. Trapper rune got yoinked and now people are finding out it didn't really matter that the spear/true shot was invisible because they don't dodge it anyway (and the derivatives of this that lead into nerf requests for things that are innocuous, like guard greatsword and RF.)

People out here stay unwilling to read and respond to animations. There will never be a balanced state if what you want is to not have to adjust your button presses based on what the opponent is doing.

even a 50% dmg nerf would still result in DH killing these players...

they will not dodge. they will not counter pressure. they will just QQ.

what kind of bad logic are you even using?

EU mAT were running bladesworn non-stop, and yet NA mAT literally only had like 1 bladesworn in the entire tournament which was picked by like R1 scrub team.

are both regions playing on different patches or something? mAT doesn't indicate kitten

he asked if DH won the MAT, it didn't. Bladesworn wasn't even part of the question...

NA is a historically uncompetitive region dominated by one team with no real competition for years. there is a reason it's not streamed or recorded, it's just not worth it.

if you think MAT doesn't have anything to do with the strength of current builds, idk what to tell you dude. if the best players choices don't indicate what's good, then what does? little timmy on centaur rev in ranked? the last 1v1 I lost in WvW to a necromancer?

tell me homie- if the classes & build choices made in the monthly tournament mean nothing in regard to build strength- then what is a good indicator? like honestly 🤔

    vs

Druid, Reaper, Deadeye, Scrapper, Core Guard

won by the team with Deadeye and Druid. This forum is actually silver and bronze takes
