Recently my hard drive died and I had to go purchase a new one and reinstall Windows. Since the reinstall, I freshly installed GW2 and I've started experiencing random lag spikes over the past few weeks or so. This didn't start right away, maybe a month or so after the reinstall, and nothing besides the new hardware and OS have changed. My internet connection hasn't changed, my GPU isn't working too hard, my RAM usage is normal, but it acts like a network issue.
It's only noticeable during combat it seems, and it doesn't seem to matter if my character is moving or standing still. Every now and then I notice it when organizing my inventory (opening bags, applying luck, etc.) and I'm often holding still for this as well. I tried lowering the graphic quality, and playing connected or disconnected to my VPN. Nothing seems to change it.
Has anyone else been experiencing something similar? Did something on the back end change recently that could cause more spikes?
