ok but we have to remove ambgushes from Mirage, longbow from ranger, the whole berserker and spellbreaker elite specs, stealth and shadowsteps from thief, anything that's not an elixir, turret, or the flamethrower kit from Engineer, and double the energy costs on all rev weapon skills. /s (satire for those that miss it)

  2. I know Rangers have often griped about pet AI in the past. Well now we're get punished when the mech doesn't have ranged and decides to move to hit something outside of literally 2 steps away.  Those of us the prefer range need an alternative to mashing F2. If the mech is going to be bad if it's not next to me, WHY ISN"T IT JUST A GYRO WELL? Why not give a mode that's a "stick to player within X circle and only attack if foe is in range,"? Be better Anet.

Agreed. I also take umbrage at the fact they're too busy balancing around elite specs and dramatically altering core thief.

However, I'd protest that quite a few classes currently have "100% agency" over their survivability, such as necromancer, mechanist, and guardian, to name a few.  Even mesmer can be quite potent at survival, if spec'd well.

Warrior and elementalist, on the other hand, well ... they're still working on having agency, period, but that's a rant altogether else.

The reason why thief alone had 100% agency and no other class does is because all of their defensive tools have either a limited duration or some level of counterplay, which stealth had neither. DE was able to permanently stealth very easily. While revealed is a mechanic, DE has the capability to remove that one piece of counterplay. So in short it basically had an unlimited duration on its big defensive tool which gives it pseudo invulnerability, the ability to withhold important PvP information like location and skill animations, and also a target break (which can happen on dodge for some reason), all with no counter play.

I used to enjoy playing SA thief in pvp and wvw but these changes have ruined my playstyle. I used to be the ultimate assassin, hiding in stealth undetected waiting for the perfect moment to strike. And if I slipped up I could dip back into the shadows planning my next move, the ultimate tactician. No one could hunt me down for my ability to befuddle foes with invisibility was unmatched. I used to laugh with glee at my enemies attempt to target me, and watch them with disdain as they tried to hit me with their aoe. I would frequently stop mid fight to type out taunting messages while invisible, goading them into a furious haze. It was the ultimate competition of wits and guile, and I was feared as a god is among peasants.

But que this latest patch and my build exists no more. I cannot be the invisible assassin I once was for my stealth uptime was nerfed. I try to duck into the shadows to escape my enemies but cant get away before they spot me. I try and say my taunting messages but drop out of stealth when im only halfway through typing. Instead I am forced to run around with permanent superspeed and more initiative than I know what to do with, it is so unfair! Please give me back my stealth. The thief archetype is about subterfuge and should have lots of stealth to fulfill that class fantasy.

Someone said it perfectly earlier "I loved having 100% agency over my own survivability". No other class has that, so why should thief? As a non thief player who despised the infinite stealth, I do take deference with some of the changes. removing stealth on steal AND heal while also removing a CDR trait without any repayment of cooldowns is pretty bull kitten imo. Basically, if DE wasn't able to abuse stealth having 100% control over survivability at 1200 range it may have been left alone.

  5. I love how warrior has to take 2 whole traitlines, 3 utilities, and their elite skill, with a specific weapon to achieve the same quickness as FB with the FB trait line and 2 buttons.

  6. Ah yes the feature from GUILDS in GUILD Wars 2 should be worse than free seige especially after GUILDS invested in the upgrades to be able to make them and pooled together the extra resources to make them, which is more than superior. Yes its less supply, but it takes more upfront cost to just get the blueprints...

From a WvW pespective, the SA changes are a sad nerf to deadeyes. Prolonged stealth was a deadeye's best defensive utility and the best way to approach outnumbered situations. Having complete agency over your own survival and playing patiently was such a fun playstyle. I really wish they would revert the shadow arts changes.

I hate to say it but the extended stealth abuse was probably the reason for the changes. Fighting a deadeye in WvW isn’t fun, even if you’re also playing a thief.

I will mention the two people that play deadeye a ton in my guild switched to Malificent 7 and say they never run out of initiative.

edit: I do think the deception trait removal was horse kitten though. Any non elite spec skill should have a CD reduction trait.

  8. You wanna know the secret?

step 1: Play a hammer herald. Ranged damage and permanent swiftness. Also have a defiant stance.

step 2: follow a blob. EBG is your best bet.

step 3: there is no step 3. Just repeat step 2 until complete.

People who only play WvW do not get 30g/hr
we’re really lucky to see 1g/hr
how do you think we feel when we see griffon and skyscale?

  9. The nerf to rise was done as it created up to 5 minions and in a blob you always get the 5. The thing about skills in GW2 is that they all have a hard target cap of 5. So basically for every minion hit, it was an ally not hit. Also when they die, if you trait for it, you make a stinky poison field and start chucking poison and weakness like its candy.
