I saw one other post about this issue, with this specific skin. I've updated drivers, tried with both DX9 and DX11, repaired game, closed all addons/other programs. CS didn't mention any other user end solutions, so I don't think that's it.

Yeah they explained that, my wish was to be reimbursed the gems I spent. At least some of them. Since I personally won't use this mount as long as it's glitched. It was a long shot, but worth a shot, having my Lunar boi rotting away in the wardrobe ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

A warning to not buy Lunar Maned Skyscale until ArenaNet announces a fix. It has a rather glaring graphical bug and after some back and forth with ArenaNet, they decided to not reimburse the purchase in any way and told me to just wait for a fix.

Confirmed that this is a bug, just bought it and it has that checker pattern when mounting up/down...

Nice of @NegAgeN.3859 to provide what worked for them, but it didn't work for me unfortunately. Even if these ridiculous steps work for some people, this is clearly not how it's supposed to function. The quest should work with whatever graphics you want, and with other programs running in the background. Really hoping the devs will fix this and not blame the players, since they denied @Potm.8249 to roll back to choose different (which seems really odd to me, considering the issue...).
