Okay this is a weird one, don’t even know if it’s the right forum and it’s not particularly serious, I’m just curious what the community thinks. So the whole idea of an ‘elite’ spec, you would think, is that everything is an upgrade from the core class but generally whenever you play one besides the profession mechanics and mostly the new weapon the ‘meta’ usually only slots in at best one or two of the new skills. Now when I play an elite spec I usually like to lean in heavy into the lore for the role play aspect so I’m curious, out of all 27 of them which elite specs do you think currently perform best using only new skills plus the weapon from that particular spec? Like I said not particularly serious so obviously not talking about raids, fractals, PvP etc let’s just say running round doing meta events etc in the end game open world maps. At the moment it seems Harbinger is the first that I actually feel stronger using only Harbinger skills but curious what others think? ( and yea I know the build isn’t going to be near meta this is just for fun!)

Yeeeeeeaaaa, I 'm kinda begining to think for what I was wanting to go for, DH actually might be the better option, which is insane, I mean its a RANGER for Gods sake, they should be God tier with a longbow!

I'm too busy trying to work out what the hell the new updates will do to my Necro and Thief mains to even think about my Ranger yet lol!

I don’t mind spending money on the game, it’s a hobby and I think people spend just as much or way more on other hobbies they enjoy. I like making new toons, I can’t be bothered levelling them all up again as I’ve levelled every profession before so I often use L80 boosts, then turning gens to gold and gearing them up off the trading post, buying transmutes for the gear, collecting new skins, minis and dyes from the trading post, the occasional cool outfit or glider. I’m no whale by any means and I still consider myself a casual player after all this time but I don’t mind putting money into the game if it means it supports it and keeps the servers running.

Thanks man! Actually at L41 it's not far off what I'm pretty much already running. I might be wrong but it doesnt seem that the Ranger Elite specs add that much except some DPS unless you want to be really in your face melee. I might end up just rolling a Gaurdian toon so I can spec into Dragon hunter as with longbows and traps it seems to way more suit the whole vibe I was going for. Still love having the pet though but I do find the Elite specs kinda weird directions. But anyway, early days so we'll see.

Basically what it says, never played Ranger before, mained a necro and thief on and off for years (I'm pretty casual despite hours in the game), enjoying the famous pokemon aspect, have a nice buff nord lass who's easy on the eye but my ultimate goal is a classic ranged longbow type as all my other toons tend to be in your face brawlers. I can't get my head round the elite specs though, they all seem to lend back into the brawler archetype unless you want to go Druid, which I'll definetly spec into eventually but not sure I want to unlock it first. So for for first elite spec to unlock which would you say synergises best with a classic ranged longbow type build? Soulbeast, untamed or Druid? Any help appreciated.
