    The game and its economy are constantly in flux. You are upset about a change which temporarily upsets the prices in a way which might not favor you, while completely ignoring all the past changes you have been benefiting off of.

    You're right. But it feels bad and this is a game based on a business model of being fun. Fun does not feel bad imo. When games feel bad players don't play.

    Not sure what being new to WvW has to do with unsuspected crazy damage in a matter of seconds against a target with high toughness. Literally running up the stairs and this happened. It wasn't a 1v1 scenario. Please explain how being new to WvW caused this. I'll be awaiting your response. 

    should check out full glass nades scrapper if you think deadeye can do fast damage 😛

    Yeah, my Christmas wish is for mag players to have a family. The poor things are spawn camping on xmas eve 😢.  I understand though, you were spawn camped yesterday but that wasn't xmas eve. This is a time for friends and family. Not spawn camping. I hope you at least enjoy the keep.

    I have fun fighting boonballs. It's just an organized squad. If you are dealing with organized squads and you are solo/small scale try back capping or picking off the tail. When ppl say "boonballs are bad" the real problem you have is fighting organized parties. If you nerf defensive boons to the ground people will just organize cc parties and do the same thing in a different way. It's organized squads you have issue with.

    Agree 100% it was a disemboweling. It's weird to me to see like alt fact propagandist white knight type players saying things like "specter is still okay" and s.a change is good because experienced thieves wanted it" like manufacturing consent type propagandists. But really the nerf for both shadow arts and specter are huge nerfs I've not used thief in anything other then open world since. Even anets own partner streamers know it was a monster nerf.

    I propose we organize and punish Arena Net in a way for either :

    1.Putting the wrong people for this job calling out “balances” that end up making gamer experience worse.

    2. Not listening to what the customer wants aka bad customer service. 
     

    3. Because by doing these changes without polling us the users , they send our in game experience to trash, and also our investments in gems and such. And there is now way to fix this at will but every patch which gets more ee dee Oo teek  than the previous .

    Considering they nerf to destroy. like a civil war doctor amputating entire builds/especs. I just don't like having my favorite toys broken.

    I hate the shroud nerf, too, and I wish the situation were different, but it doesn't change any of the following:

    • Condi (Alac) Specter's still the best thief for typical group instances at pretty much all levels of execution (and Staff Daredevil is the best non-Specter alternative)

    • DPS benchmarks are about the same as before

    • The rotation is still the same — I've tried it both on the golem and in real instanced stuff, with the passive shroud loss there's still ample room to do the 3x Grasping Shadows loop with either build (and, idk, i feel like if a fresh player only managed to pull off the shorter 2x Grasping Shadows sequence, it's not the end of the world)

    says the guy with 1.8k posts. I'm at least happy "I hate the shroud nerfs". Because in other parts of this thread you made it seem like it didn't matter and no one had valid complaints. Also I point to the evidence of the private discord conversation before the june 28 patch where the dev's actually say "i don't understand thief enough to make changes" then nerf stealth by 50% ish. Now not only did they not help with that issue they nerf thief again 2x. If you play thief I have no idea how you're not enraged by this. I've spent 1000s of hrs on my thief and bought all the transmogs with gems and rl money. Now my thief is barely usable. Before june 28th the thief was only in an okay spot in the game modes i play. Now it's F tier.  

    My inner dialog: Guy tells me to l2p... I've 1000s of hrs on thief in multiple game modes. L2p like I'm some ape at the keyboard. Some knuckle dragging imbecile. Then admits the nerf is bad. But we are the dumb ones complaining about it....

    Also I can't figure out what elite the new hard to catch is supposed to enhance. Spinny knives already has evade.  Stony poison actually stops attacks so most likely don't need evades when you use it.  Hep Frenz! gets used in a safe space during the combat flow (this is actually hard to describe, does anyone know what I'm talking about?) I think this is a result of the casting time.  DD elite, hard cc again.  DE elite you're in stealth.  Specter elite, again your targets are being controlled.  Am I missing something?

    I bet 1 of 2 things is going on. Not a single one of them plays the thief or another companies mole is sabotaging the balance devs. The 28th patch... now this, Idk it seems really strange to me. Like the 28th banner change was just so illogical it felt unreal. The s.a change now this... Idk, somethin don't feel right.

    Have you played this dumpster fire? Idk I played it and it feel bad I mean like bottom of the mmo classes out of my 30yrs of gaming bad. (excels in .01% of player/game mode) catches another 50% nerf. 5 endurance lul.

    When I want to play a thief I'll go look at other offerings. Rogue/druid in wow, burglar in lotro, ninja in bdo, Unfortunate gw2 doesn't offer this play style as a functioning profession within the balance of the other professions. Maybe ashes will have the play style I like sometimes. Anet has a hard time with the basics imo like guys we just want normal class fantasy from d&d sometimes.

    You must be new around here. I played thief since launch. I played against other known thieves like Yishis, and blackbyrd and Wyld Bill. I know that Jinx is still around, he's been playing thief for a long time as well. When gw2 was brought onto the MMO scene, stealth class, assassin, rogue, thief, was the quintessential. Apparently now it is "a source of frustration". I have been watching the decline and ultimately the disembowelment of the thief over the past decade. Twenty eighth of June was the final straw for me. Question still remains: how much more abuse to the thief are you willing to endure?

    My tinfoil hat is warm. My spidy sense is tingling. I suspect sabotage in the balance team tbh. (or they are quite quitting) Because they are just like "lalalalalala dgaf what they think", "just forget we offer this profession to our player base" I'm sitting here as a customer thinking omg they don't even care enough to play this pile of crap to see how many of us feel. It's absurd really.

    If you look at the amount of times you see a thief able to use their dodges/stealth/blinds/ you will see that their defensive capabilities are far far superior to most other classes. 

     

    I mained a thief in wvw exclusively for a lomg while till last major update.  I didn't like being forced to use stealth as a main defensive skill because I found it to be overpowered.

    You play a class that is almost impossible to target the real player then complain about how powerful stealth is. Every time you blink, or stealth ppl lose target on you and target one of your clones... And stealth is oped? Thief and mesmer hold hands in the (learn2counter) mechanics my friend. "(far less than a thief has)"lmao so this means you cast shame on thief players because they are so overpowered... Yet the fotm rerolls don't go anywhere near thief which makes that an odd argument. Idk your posts feel biased for some reason? The thief profession isn't very well represented in any aspect of this game other than spvp so we know it's not overpowered. (<points> to the huge amount of mechs as proof of the results of being an actual overpowered spec).

    Thief is trash right now. Try going in wvw roaming in tier 1 or 2 in wvw solo and "destroy" anything lol. I wasn't super good at thief but half decent and any +1 fight you have to use every ounce of initiative and utility cooldowns to try to escape. You act as if thief can 1vs2,3,4,5 or something. 1vs1 thief can do okay but it's still not the best in wvw. I think in spvp it has to do with gear scaling and available gear sets. "thief are hard to play well". I main thief 4 hrs a day for a yr straight in t1 wvw before the shadow arts nerf and i was only okay. If I spent that much time on any other profession I'd probably have better results. When you come at this like "wow thief is clearly the best ever" that's straight up saying nerf it to the devs because redesigning the profession would easily irritate the entire playerbase of that profession. Like think about your main and you roast a noob in pvp then that noob is on the forum "nerf redesign into something i can kill" lol

    I disagree. The medkit is strong but having an invincible max range cloud be able to destroy an organized group doesn't seem fun to me.

    Numbers and approach are going to decide things more than a rigid composition, and your approach as a thief might decide even a large fight if you can make things cascade. The other side also has to maintain their comp and normally if you take out a Firebrand or two or other support, the other side has to scramble at a pace that's going to be in your sides favor.     Right now most builds can be pretty durable in large fights but Specter especially can hold it down in the core of a fight while also being one of the best to respond to and mitigate different parts of a fight. Even when I don't get an invite to a squad, I'll keep their people up and just try to stay out of their circles when they set up something. Your own fields take priority so you should be set in blob fights even un grouped. 

    The squad calls the cloud around it the "locals" and proceeds to unbag them mercilessly, 4kdr is pretty normal. You think you're doing something, but you're not. I enjoy the what if scenarios that make thief useful but in practice it's not. The only decent place thief has is in spvp and I would assume that has to do with the gear sets and the way thief scales. In wvw the cooldowns are just way to long to roam. I mean mech can shadowstep every 18 seconds + rocket boots x2 talk about mobility. It's rifle burst is insane and can pierce. I'll hard pass on thief until it gets very needed development attention. The wvw forum has a pole and thief is the least played wvw in that poll for a reason.

    Nah, the group I run with would throw my specter in subgroup 1 unsupported with the rangers and other non meta. You know unsupported are basically free bags for the enemy zerg or cloud. The server I play has map ques and bringing an underperforming class or spec takes that spot from another player that might be on current meta, your usefulness is actually hindering. Years of underdeveloped balance attempts have put thief way behind current meta in actual gameplay. (prob why you don't see to many thief players in wvw anymore)

    Lol, I guess if you count laying supply traps and marking zergs then stealth running away? But being useful in a fight you are not as a thief player.
