This is somewhat based on the WvW legendary armor set to be similar in spirit and I'm also just taking some generic components from it. Any numbers are rough draft concept, apart from copying those in WvW armor. I have not done the math part and leave that to people who enjoy math more.

Components for each piece (*names of new items are intentionally silly placeholder names, the proposal itself is serious):

    (Gift of Taxiing)

    1. 1,000 Glowing Egg Timer (acquired from successful completion of meta bosses, time-gated, more on this below)
    2. Eldritch Scroll (50 Spirit Shards)
    3. 50 Obsidian Shards
    4. Cube of Stabilized Dark Energy (1 Ball of Dark Energy, 75 Stabilizing Matrices)

    (Gift of Tagging)

    1. 100 Bottle of Adventurer's Sweat (acquired from completion of Events)
    2. 100 Bent Spoon (acquired from completion of Hearts, more acquired from repeatable Hearts in end-game zones)
    3. Certificate of Repetition (purchased with 50,000 Karma)
    4. Certificate of Reading Map Chat (purchased with 250 Proof of Getting Downed, acquired from Hero Points, either ones you haven't completed yet on the character or repeatable ones daily)

    (Gift of Position Rewinding)

    1. 100 Essence of Jump Dodging (acquired from Jump Puzzle final chests and can be traded with other players)
    2. 15 Mystic Clovers
    3. Gift of Condensed Might
    4. Gift of Condensed Magic

Precursor: A piece of Ascended Armor (the kind with the skin you would get from crafting or rare boxes, e.g. not including WvW ascended armor or the like)

Glowing Egg Timers Summary: I don't like time gates, but that's the trend with legendary armor, so what I propose is that an amount of these is awarded from the successful completion of each meta event through the daily chests*. These would also have a weekly limit, so you can still get your daily chests after you've hit the limit, but you can't get more Glowing Egg Timers after you've hit cap for that week. This would encourage you to do a higher variety of meta events each week, so you can reach your weekly cap more quickly.

*some metas would need daily chests added to them so they aren't left in the cold

Glowing Egg Timers Rotation: some metas award more Glowing Egg Timers on a daily rotation, so that more meta events get attention (e.g. people don't just do the easiest all week and ignore other metas).

    Anticipated Questions:

"You have a currency from events, but there's already karma." Yep. A new one on top of karma that is specifically for legendary armor would avoid the problem of people with mounds of karma having a headstart, or newer players needing an obscene amount of karma to get even a single piece. I'm thinking of karma cost as the Badge of Honor equivalent currency.

"You don't have a nine part series of collections, is this even a legendary?" Collections aren't something I get much out of, so it's not something I want to put much thought into proposing as part of this. I'm focusing on what the components might look like, mostly. You're welcome to add ideas.

"This seems like a lot." I know, legendaries in this game are really something and I'm trying to model this after others.

"This seems like nothing and is too easy." I know, legendaries in this game are so easy and I'm making it even easier.

"Hey wait a minute, you're changing sides there." I know, some people they just can't be consistent, it's really something.

Your Thoughts: What are they? Keep in mind this is not meant to be a final draft type of proposal for the game, but something to chew on for possible design if they were to go this route and help move this conversation past yes/no. And on that note, please do add your thoughts about what could make this work. Please don't pollute the thread with debate about whether there should be an open world legendary armor.

Knowing Anet you you would need 100% map completion on all games, HOT, POF, EOD etc. You would need to combine all the pieces to form one gift and then combine that with 3 other gifts to make another gift that would be then used with X Icy Runestones, and you would need 2 other sections like COMPLETION of events, random materials. You make it cut and dry which is good but you def need to add multiple 4 craft tiers of  of the gifts. and then make it repeatable up to 6 times.

Those lanes in front of SMC would look like Mad Max: Furry Road.

More than two players per a vehicle is tricky. I used to feel baller in Starwars Galaxies rolling around with my guild in a speeder or skiff but that could get frustrating. I actually pulled over more than once and was like, you guys need to quit being dumb and quit clicking stuff or we're not moving because they'd accidently click to get off and fall off a cliff I was driving by they'd pull a bunch of agro.

HAHAHA wasnt there instrument skins at one point? That would be so epic to see flaming Charrs on a turtle. MAKE THIS HAPPEN

    If this petition goes through...

I petition to mount more siege on the turtle mount.

Two more rider slots would be ideal, to add an arrow cart, ballista, and shield generator.

Ride by ballista shots, arrow cart for zerg fights, and shield generator for shell protection.

Its a great idea I dont know why people are confused by this? The turtle mount does nothing in PvE except bragging rights

I have worked my way up to lvl 80 and started doing quests and stuff in the Crystal Oasis and some in the Jungle. Haven't bought the new expansion yet.
I bought the 2 expansion package not to long ago.
But I noticed how much harder things got in the new zones. I never did any of the lvl 80 zones from the very first expansion, I jumped straight into the story line of Path of Fire to get the mount.

I guess i'm just a bit to much of a casual and a noob still, but i'm almost losing interest because things feel so much harder and I feel a bit lost how to get all these Mastery points.  And some of them are SO hard to get.

I went and bought some new gear (im a ranger). That made it a tiny bit easier. But still, it makes me a bit sad that it became that much harder suddenly. Oh well, I guess I have to keep practicing 🙂

You can add me and i can assist you

  5. Why isn't this a thing yet? Could be a really cool concept that acts like a mobile bank or some sort of carrier for items. No idea how this would work but doing another legendary option but purely cosmetic with some utility would be really cool. Maybe one per mount for now? Thoughts and is this even possible?

  6. Make this happen, I never see the Turtle in PvE, hardly at all in fact and I think it's time to add it to WvW. Can really help with long range and possibly curb the boon blob, add an option for walls. Might add a possibility of seeing a wall of turtles followed by players behind it, so could be a fun trojan horse meta option but the turtle in my opinion is pretty useless. Sorry just Griffon, Skyscale is pretty much the dominate one and don't see the need for a turtle so let's put it where it belongs.

  7. This one I am curious on. We can stat swap ascended weapons and armor but why not trinkets? WE can do the exact same recipe as armor with ectos, the item, and the insignia plus Shards but why not trinkets yet? It's not much fun to farm up ascended trinkets then select stats like Misntrel, Trailblazer, Dragon, Ritualist just to have the meta change then no one will select us because our stats are off. Those ascended trinkets take forever to farm up sometimes. The easiest is bitterfrost Frontier with the berries and I like that I can get an ascended relatively quickly but some of the other ones take a lot of investment

I DID see that stats on bloodstones can be swapped, so my bad, but my question is why was this never added for the rest of trinkets?

I have a lot of spirit shards, laurels, karma and other currencies on me. I read that I should keep them for legendaries but I don’t feel they are worth the hassle. I also read that once you dump these currencies from your wallet they will be difficult to get, so should I turn them into liquid gold, or should I use them for something else? I am a little confused here and maybe worried that I would regret using them to get gold if I’ll ever need them in the future.

Armor and trinkets are the only thing worth on legendaries the weapons are nothing more than cool skins. Ascended weapons you can get every weapon you want, with all of your stats and use a couple slots in your inventory to transfer to different builds and all of this will still be WAY less than any legendary weapon you craft

That might be sarcasm but that is also the only realistic "fix" for "I want the gear but I don't want to spend any effort getting it".

or maybe we just ignore people who want everything without any effort? I don't really mind either way. Less effort for them is also less effort for me. I don't mind doing the things required but I don't need the effort to exist either.

The problem there is that ANet considers dungeons to be abandoned content. They exist and people can do them but it's not something ANet wants to promote.

Besides, if doing VB takes too much time and effort, doing strikes takes too much time and effort, fractal is too much time and effort, wvw is too much time and effort, pvp is too much time and effort then how is dungeons not going to be too much time and effort?

By that logic maybe that player who thinks that needs to decide if Guildwars is really for them then? Something to ponder, if you cant put the time in for certain aspects then perhaps Diablo or COD or something like that. MMO's take a certain level of investment

I expect I will be get push back for this but I like the idea of needing to travel, even if by WP, to find a specific item, recipe, or the like. The idea of different merchants across the world having somewhat different gear to sell for different currency or prices make the world feel a bit larger and more immersive to me. I think wiki and guides for those less inclined to seek these things out as part of their exploration of the world do a fine job of easing the process of gearing up.

Ye and thats cool because there is some theme its that basic recipes and basic armor is extremely annoying to find information on. I dont mind needing map currency for this rune or that rune thats cool. But I do get sick of every map in every part of the game having berserker gear. Literally EOD introduced so much new things and they are 75% all berserker 25% ritualist. I like pushing ritualist in EOD thats cool, make the ascended and exotic stat selectable or maybe stat selectable for certain stats... I just hate that it auto has berserker stats

No, they won't. Prior to level 80, players are not min-maxing their characters. If they are, it is pointless.

I agree that the system could use an overhaul, but don't see Anet going back through all of the existing content to do so. And I don't believe it is as bleak as you make it sound.

I know its wishful thinking.... Anet never fixes anything at all that isnt relevant. The events in starter zones are so bugged out

  12. So some who never played the original Gw1 you had the option with training 2 professions. This was a really fun and cool concept seeing a warrior drop meteors and earthquakes on players during pvp matches. So my question is, if we ever had the option of mixing classes and skills what would you choose and why? What OP combos could you come up with?

The right course of action is to abolish 90% of the stat combos so that new players are funnelled towards the ones that are relevant. There are so many noob traps and completely useless combos that it's mindboggling how anybody can defend this at all.

We need to buff or change the ones not being played. Give them such a stat boost that it forces players to change, also Gut Berserker. Time for that meta to DIE

I don't know if all weapons/armor should be stat selectable. This would invalidate some of the current farms for stat selectable gear (WvW, VB, etc.).

I would like to see core dungeon armor and weapons be stat selectable, however. This is some of the first sub-level 80 instanced group content players can play in the game. It would be nice to make both the content and gearing more accessible (and relevant) to free-to-play players and new players alike.

No all of it you can make it challenging I dont want to just give players the option  but make it learn/able and make it accessible without having to go to 14 worlds, WVW, do this one specific dance in PVP then go to LA and performa a charr sacrificial ritual with a spoon you find from Ore farming corrupt chickens and you can get a single piece of Ingot that is 1 of 4 that is needed to craft it. That is insane they even have stuff remotely like that. Also everything I just said is used in one way or another for some type of armor. Just the basic set of Exotic we need to make accessible for players that is easy to learn, give them the challenge and teach players how to do it.

Thank you for this, it really needs another look. Even as a returning player with some prior knowledge of the game, I still got overwhelmed on the gear part coming back on a new character and I'm not exaggerating when I say I nearly quit again because of it. I had even uninstalled the game and only really decided to overcome the problem because I was struggling to find other games to get into. And that was without even being confused by what stat to go for: I found a build guide that looked really fun and interesting, but it was celestial and I was facing an arduous and confusing process to get gear for that stat.

In the end, I consulted the wiki heavily: got trinkets with laurels I'd never used from my previous time playing the game, armor mostly from VB, and machined weapons. Don't remember the rest, but yeah, it was kinda absurd. And it's not just about time investment, it's about not knowing what to do and where to go. And it's about not having the gear you need for the recommended build while you're trying to get it.

Also, I have characters from 2014-15 era back when I was originally playing the game and virtually all of them are berserker armor and weapons as exotic, with a janky setup of trinkets and backpack that don't even get to rare level in most cases. So that tells me the system wasn't exactly great even back then. At least the stat scope was more simplistic though, so recommendations were almost always berserker. Now celestial seems to be the more common recommend for open world, since it makes soloing more feasible. But simply making celestial easier to get would just be kicking the can down the road until balance changes cause another stat type to become more common. So I do think making stat selectable more accessible is the best future-proofing solution.

Getting some of these runes and insignias from 4000 different vendors is annoying then you have to use google and dive in to find it, for a new player that will never work out, they will lose the player before they even get to lvl 80. I ask people all the time, explain the process of getting armor, weapons (not including legendaries because that is the point) but just a basic celestial set of armor, or something that is off meta from Berserker, or Marauders. Explain ascended to me, explain exotic, where the stats are acquired from, no one can do it from point A to point Z without Rabbit trailing for 45 minutes. Its insane

  16. Hey all, I need some help in mastering Firebrand. I have been enjoying it a lot, and using command tag with HealBrand. I had some questions on engaging and how to support if I am leading a blob. I guess needing some engage training if anyone has ideas?

    How to engage a group

    Calling out for stealth, buffs

Most of my squad is supporting me and my movement path but I am supposed to be buffing them, cleansing etc. Am I supposed to play a different build in general? It seems some of the fights I lose because the players do not go in and do the damage and nuke the enemy but rather be a bit more passive and protect me. Should I play a more aggro Tank role? Thoughts?

If you have other recommendations on builds, leading engaging and communicating I would love to hear it. What is the process in Commanding a zerg/blob with a healbrand?

Why does it matter?  Does it affect you?  Should they not be able to play how they want and more easily get the stats that they desire through stat selectable armor?

Exactly stat select-able armor is great for the game because it allows players to get their armor faster thus get into the content and learn faster. The game shouldnt be a long haul in every aspect. More ascended trinkets with ONLY stat selectable, exotic armor. The ascended armor there is some you get that has stat select armor but that isnt a big deal because you can easily toilet in new stats with Anthology and ectos.

    If so, what for?

Cause i did the DE meta, numerous times... Got the egg, hatched and cared for it (did achievements), the turtle was following me all around Arborstone, and then i finally unlocked it as a mount...

And since then i forgot it existed... 😕

    Anyone else? Or just me?

My default on X is Skyscale, and it is still the nr.1 mount to use anywhere.

On land, beetle is better than turtle, especially if you know how to drive it. Barring that, raptor gets you places more elegantly.

Some metas don't even allow for mounts so you can't use it there, and as just map traversal, it's not for that...

Idk, this feels like it should have been a WvW mount, like Warclaw, you use supply to attack and maybe weaken walls, like warclaw can weaken gates.

Where in PvE are you using turtles?

I just use my Panda Pet and never touch the turtle. Panda Mini is the best mini in the game and no one has it. Cheers
