  1. This beta has definitely brought home that there are some huge cultural splits in the WVW community. Some of the community plays "Strategically"...others play for "Battles" As always, play the way you like...its your time and money. It really depends on what tier and server you are on. Anet has allowed the game play to evolve along different lines on different tiers. Yes, map strategy is still played on some servers/tiers, its all about good map strategy. The battles are fun but the map is the goal. Yes, battle strategy is played on some servers/tiers, it is all about good fight strategy. Map strategy is there but the good fight is the goal. Some embrace both, the fun of battles with good map strategy but there is some polarization. I understand that restructuring is to "FIX" WvW and bring it under one happy roof but as we have players approaching WVW with different goals. Perhaps it is time for different Servers with different rules/rewards that promote different game play styles? Other games have done this. PS: I come from a strategic server, I was shocked when a commander kept moving to defend a paper tower over a T3 keep.... The T3 keep was being attacked by 6 good players. The paper tower was being attack by a small zerg.... He chose the battle over the map.. It made perfect sense to him. I always try to be polite in game play. If I see someone riding to a sentry point I am on, I will step out or mount....but.... I got dressed down by another player for killing all the NPC's while a camp was in "RI"..... I come from a strategic tier... the camp will be defended, players will be coming and I don't want to fight both players and NPC's ....it is not a daily. To the other player... I was being rude, depriving other players credit for the guard kills... I understand his point but it is how our present server rolls. So it appears ANet needs to work on the cultural clash in restructuring along with everything else.
  2. I am just put this out there, YMMV and always watch your CPU temperature. GW2 is CPU intensive and what I found out was that my CPUs were not running in "Performance" mode. I went from 24fps to 52fps in large WVW zerg fights with this tweak. Other wise the game pretty much runs 63 FPS (limited to 60 fps due to my monitor ). You can run this script in console to check your CPUs settings "cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu*/cpufreq/scaling_governor" (cut and paste what is between first and last quotes---keeping it basic) It should come back with "Performance" for each core. If the cores are not running in "Performance" mode: This script in console should switch the CPUs into performance mode: "echo "performance" | sudo tee /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu*/cpufreq/scaling_governor" (again cut and paste what is between first and last quotes---keeping it basic) In graphics options: It is set to "Best Appearance " ( high) except : Shadows, Reflections and Post Processing are set to none. I am Running GW2 on SUSE tumbleweed through steam. In steam properties : General : "gamemoderun %command% -provider Portal" Compatibility : Force and GE-Proton8-13 Hardware: AMD 3700x with an nvidia 2060, not the best rig but GW2 performance is good. Hope this is useful to some.
