Hi, fix the cake or sad times.

They will fix it, eventually! 🤔 All we know for now is that they are aware of the issue and working on a fix. Based on the number of times they've re-introduced old bugs back into the game it could take anywhere from a couple of weeks up to 8+ weeks before they finally get around to releasing the fix. *shrug*

Looks like it is indeed not intended, and they are working on it

Well at least that confirms that they are aware of the issue AND working on a fix! Sadly there's zero indication of just when we might get to see that fix deployed. 🤔

I play since the beta and got the 10 years cake last year. It's worked for a year and it stopped working last week. If that was intended that would mean it's been bugged for a year and now it's "fixed" lol. Nonsense. At least they would have said it in the patch notes.

Always so very amusing when folks not only completely miss the point but then try to argue against the point they so clearly missed! 🤣

Did you maybe consider that it might be a new change, which would therefore make it an intended change? 🤔 When there's no official confirmation of either an intended change or a bug you should never just assume one or the other! *shrug* Sometimes changes can get missed from the patch notes for various reasons. Yes, this is more than likely a bug, but until we see official confirmation we cannot actually know for certain either way! 🤔

Why on Tyria would this be intended?

Who knows? Sure, we can assume it's unintended and therefore a bug, but we can never actually know that because Anet will never confirm it either way. One thing I've learnt over the years is to never, ever assume anything about anything, especially when it comes to game devs. I've seen game devs come out with comments like "We need to do a better job at communicating with our players" and "We need to be more transparent about the changes we make" but then they never really follow through on such comments. *shrug*

  5. Noticed this yesterday. When placing and consuming a Feast of Delectable Birthday Cake it no longer refreshes it's buff. You now have to wait until both the Nourishment AND the Malnourished buffs have expired, but you can no longer refresh the remaining duration. A quick check of the GW2 Wiki entry (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Feast_of_Delectable_Birthday_Cake) shows that there is a Bug noted at the bottom of the page:

    Quote

Unlike the Birthday Blaster, the feast's effect is unable to override either itself or the Malnourished effect, only allowing reapplication every 35 minutes.

So the wiki knows about the bug but do the devs know about it? Is it actually a bug or intended? Would be nice to get some sort of clarification on this. Seems like it would be better to use the Birthday Blaster to gain the same effect until this is fixed. *shrug*

Some posts add quite a bit to the conversation.  Unfortunately, this post adds nothing.  This is the second post by the local forum police informing me that I have hurt there feelings by making a post in a different forum than they would have.  It seems a bit intolerant.

Sorry to burst your little bubble but no, not a single feeling hurt whatsoever! Too freakin old to waste time caring about total strangers and whether they might or might not misunderstand a suggestion! Seems you don't much like suggestions, which would seem to be a bit intolerant on your part! But if you can't understand why I made the suggestion then that's on you. *shrug*

Why would it be a gemstore item?  None of the other sun-blessed weapons are.  What is the point of your post?

Apologies, my bad. You meant the missing off-hand from the Sun-Blessed weapons from the Festival of the Four Winds. So, wouldn't it be best to post about that in the Festivals sub-forum? You know, seeing as they're only available from a merchant/vendor at the Festival of the Four Winds. Though wouldn't they also need to add the missing Zephyrite Warhorn as well?

But then again, seeing as there isn't a Warhorn available in either the Zephyrite or the Sun-Blessed Zephyrite collections, it's not completely outside the realm of possibilities that they decide to add them as Gemstore items! 😲

I think for the US it's in Texas, could be wrong though but it's definitely not in the west coast like it should be, I would say this is one of the major reasons why this game is not very popular outside the US where connecting to Europe is worse.

I take it you didn't want to take time to actually read any of the previous comments, a number of which confirm that the NA server is located in Virginia and the EU server is located in Frankfurt (Germany). The NA server used to be in Dallas, Texas but that changed about 5 years ago. Also, why should the server be on West Coast? Is there some law or something stating such? 🙄

Never hurts to get a better understanding of how such things work, there's a pretty decent explanation of Worlds/Servers over on GW2 Wiki. 😉

ESO has fast travel as well. This makes me wonder if they even did any research prior to making that claim.

There's actually quite a few other MMO's that have some sort of fast travel/instant travel system that is specifically designed to allow the player to traverse the game world much faster than walking/running/other forms of travel:

The Lord of the Rings Online
    Dungeons & Dragons Online
    Neverwinter Online
    Star Trek Online
    Rift
    Trove

Probably a good few more that I don't recall, mainly because I no longer play as many MMO's as I used to! While each MMO has their own versions of a fast travel/instant travel system they all have the same thing in common and that's to allow the player to go from one location to another very quickly.

  11. There's a few other factors to take into account along with CPU, GPU and RAM such as hard drive(s), driver versions and internet connection, as well as what other software is running when you play the game. But, as Inculpatus points out, there's nothing stopping you from running the game yourself and experimenting with the settings to get the perfromance that you're happy with. *shrug*

Hello, i'm really sorry i just came back to the game recently and i have been playing on and off and i noticed the issue, i didn't see that there is a entire thread about the problem.

In a way gives me relief because it seems that many players are experiencing this.

No worries, duplicate discussion threads are rather common here, at least it gives the forum moderators something to do! 😁

This particular lighting issue has been a problem for almost two weeks now and, so far, nobody seems to really know what the cause actually is. A-net aren't saying anything either, but that's normal, they only ever comment on bugs and/or issues when it's something very serious.

Oh, and welcome back to GW2! 😉

yup But I have tried EVERY single interactable chair sofa in that room on that wall. its the last one, it has to be a bug if it's THIS HARD to complete. I am using the wiki to try and complete it as well, there is only one room with the sofas in them.

Sounds as if something weird is going on for you. Seeing as I completed this achievement years ago I can't test the normal "Pirate's Plush Sofa" or the "Pirate's Plush Sofa (Corner Section)" to see if they're working, but, fortunately Inculpatus has been able to test them and had no problems.

When you move your cursor over either the normal "Pirate's Plush Sofa" or the "Pirate's Plush Sofa (Corner Section)" does your cursor change to a gear cog? Also, what race is the character you're using to "sit" in the chairs? Just trying to think of possible solutions for you, so maybe you could try using a different character that is also a different race. *shrug* Sometimes weird solutions can solve weird stuff happening and noboby knows why! 😲

I have noticed the same thing lately. Turn the camera just a little, and suddenly light sources are off.

What does that mean? It is still a bug. DX11 surely is not meant to do that.

It means that enabling the DX11 rendering option actually requires the game to be restarted before DX11 takes effect. It is not a toggle on/off option as the OP seems to think. The game actually tells you that you need to restart the game for the change to take effect! 😲

The lighting issue is not a DX11 bug, a number of players have reported seeing the same issue when using DX9.

You can find quite a few players reporting the lighting issue over in the main discussion:

Lighting is behaving oddly since last patch [Merged]

  15. I remember doing this achievement shortly after the reward was added to the achievement. I ended up using the GW2 Wiki to find all of the correct chairs for the Chairs of the World achievement because there were a few that didn't actually work, even though they had the correct name. Sometimes, especially for the larger chairs, it can simply require clicking on different areas of the chair until the game eventually registers that you have indeed "sat" on the appropriate chair. *shrug*

Is it the normal "Pirate's Plush Sofa" or the "Pirate's Plush Sofa (Corner Section)" that you're having trouble with?

This is what currently happens in the Hoelbrak home instance when you turn the camera at certain spots: https://i.imgur.com/aVV9zyY.jpg

These are only two spots of many in said instance. And it's not the only location where this is happening...

You don't even need to turn the camera, simply walking towards the Krait Obelisk in Hunter's Hearth (Hoelbrak home) results in the lighting suddenly turning very dark.

I've seen this weird lighting glitch occur in many locations: Divinity's Reach; Lion's Arch; Black Citadel; The Grove; Rata Sum; Hoelbrak; Plains of Ashford; Diessa Plateau; Queensdale; Gendarran Fields; Wayfarer Foothills; Lornar's Pass; Metrica Province; Caledon Forest; Brisban Wildlands; Bloodtide Coast; and several others! The main point is that it's NOT isolated to a few instances or locations, it's game-wide and can occur anywhere and everywhere!

10 days of this and, so far, A-net are completely silent (as usual) with absolutely nothing in regards to feedback! Are they investigating? Do they know what the cause is? Are they even aware of this? Who knows? Not the players because A-net never tells players anything anymore! Great game and all that, shame the studio can no longer be bothered to inform players as to what's happening! 😲 Never ceases to amaze me that so many game development studios are so happy to simply ignore the very people who are playing their games! 😲

  17. When I logged in-game shortly after the last patch (July 21, 2022 - Build: 131,907) the lighting was behaving normally. Played for about an hour before quitting and shutting down my system.

Logged in-game about 4 hours ago, entered Hunter's Hearth and once again the lighting was behaving weirdly with this constant flickering off and on. Been seeing this flickering light issue in all sorts of places since the July 19 (Build: 131,259) patch, so it doesn't seem to be restricted to certain or specific locations.

I realize this is a bit unrealistic, but has anyone seen any sort of response from anybody at A-net to say that they are at least aware  of this issue and maybe even investigating? 😲

Yea that’s what I thought!! This is the reply I got at the end of the ticket

    Hello,

Our apologies for the confusion on this matter. After further review, we confirm this issue is a bug occurring. The next time that you're in the game, you can do us a favor by submitting an in-game bug report. This will send detailed information about your character and your position directly to our Quality Assurance Team and will help us assess the issue as promptly as possible. To submit a bug report in the game, simply click on the "Game Menu" button in the upper left-hand corner of the game interface, then choose the "Support" option on the Game Menu. That option will allow you to review known issues, report a bug, or contact Customer Support. Also, since this bug issue is related to an achievement reward, we're unable to progress this achievement to unlock the Warclaw mount.

You’re also welcome to report a game issue in the Bugs sub-forum of the Guild Wars 2 Forums (https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/forum/9-bugs-game-forum-website/). You may include screenshots with your forum report if you wish to do so. While we are unable to respond directly to each bug report that we receive on the forums or through the game interface, each report is reviewed and escalated, when appropriate.

Thank you again for taking the time to let us know about this issue.

    Regards,

    GM Ultra Viper
    Guild Wars 2 Support Team

I spent ages getting through the Wvw track to unlock this and don’t have any faith it will get fixed just submitting a bug report 😞 😞 not sure what else I can do?! I will try repair it but I’ve been playing on my steam deck and laptop and both have the issue so wouldn’t think it’s corrupted files

Submit the in-game bug report as Support have requested, then update your Support ticket to confirm with them that you have indeed submitted an in-game bug report as they requested. You should also ask them what you are supposed to do now to get the Warclaw mount that you have unlocked but are unable to acquire. Point out that you have done everything that was required, but somehow the achievement has bugged out which is now preventing you from receiving the Warclaw Certificate of Ownership which is what you need to unlock the Warclaw at the vendor.

Every 2 or 3 days keep updating your Support ticket to ask what's happening and remind them that you're still waiting for this bug to be resolved.

Had this happen with a character in the Hooligan's Route area of Lion's Arch about 30 minutes ago, shortly after that I switched to another toon in Hoelbrak and went into the Home instance to farm all my gathering materials for the day and had a similar lighting issue occur.

I actually wondered if it was due to having changed my Graphics Options Render Sampling to Supersample earlier so I logged out of the game, changed the Render Sampling back to Native and then restarted the game. Logged in-game with the same toon in Hoelbrak and went back into the Home instance and the lighting was fine, no weirdness at all. Now I'm going to switch back to my toon in Lion's Arch and check Hooligan's Route to see if the lighting there is still weird or not.

EDIT: Just checked Hooligan's Route and the lighting there is normal now, no weirdness with the lights switching off and on as I turn the camera. *shrug*

After this I went on to play for several hours, switching between multiple toons and visiting multiple zones. Not once did I see any more of this weird lighting issue where certain light sources seem to suddenly switch off and on as you move around.

Finished playing and logged out, exited the game, did some other stuff for a bit and then shut down my system while I was busy with other things. Finally popped back in-game, logged into the same toon from earlier in Hoelbrak and went into Hunter's Hearth to gather my daily materials. This time the lighting started switching off and on almost constantly as I moved around gathering from each of the various nodes in the Home instance!

So I guess we now play the waiting game to see how long it takes A-net to fix this? 🙄
