But maybe there is some sort of issue with the way they have the weapon categories coded into the game.

These sort of issues are almost always management issues and I doubt its any different in this case.

  2. Either a spear or trident as a condi weapon choice would be cool to see. Variety is the spice of life after all and its always been bizarre to me that they have all these weapons already in the game with all the artwork finished and all they need to become land weapons is some code and animation work.

If anything I have praise for a-net for the stuff they did with Warrior in recent times.

    • Berserker was saved with it's rework, no exagerration.
    • Traitline balance/reworks are almost always a hit (Defense, Tactics, Strenth and recently Arms)
    • Support warrior is now real, very real

As for big problems I see only two:

    • Berserker
    • Bladesworn.

First because everything that should be fixed on core is fixed on it  instead.
Crappy weapon? Works fine on zerk. Condi? No problem. Support? Best place to be.
Meanwhile rest of warr specs have to live with cold reality of above problems.

    Second is obvious.

You can only go up from the rock bottom. If its not a hit after a decade of neglect then you should give up hope completely. Core weapons are still absolutely terrible, they had the gall to nerf torch, sword had to be buffed on like pretty much every skill and greatsword is nothing but a stat stick that lets you hit a few arc dividers in between your axe rotation.

Bladesworn is an incredibly cool e-spec dragged down by association with this class and the forced heal build obviously doesn't work because why would it work? Who thought it was a good idea to make bladesworn alac-heal over spellbreaker?

  4. Its pretty viable, easy to learn and suprisingly hard to master for a spec thats often mistakenly considered shallow. Thats not a bad thing though, there is a lot of joy in mastering all the bits and tricks of a spec and getting really good at it.

As for your specific questions, its one of those builds that takes a while to ramp-up dps, I won't lie to you this is something you'll generally have to learn to live with on condi specs and condizerk has to deal with not only condi effects taking time to ramp up but also the ground AoEs you apply that the bosses might just walk out of.

There are advantages to it too(big AoE means big cleave) but if you're allergic to condi builds you might want to try powerzerk instead which just as viable and I'd argue much easier to play at a viable level (you can hit 30k+ with a blindfold on on powerzerk).

If you're rolling a warrior toon anyways then I recommend you make one of both and see which you like better.

This kind of thing happens very often to me, maybe I attract the type, but I've faced a lot of frustration trying to help people who did not want to be helped. There is a significant number of people out there just wanting to be carried, and we're supporting that behaviour in our attempts to not alienate casual players. Meanwhile actual casual players are perfectly capable of doing such content in the first place, some of them simply choose not to. I truly don't think normal strikes are too hard for instance. and I have logs from a kaineng overlook strike run that lasted 1 hour 25 minutes to prove it. But to this day, kaining overlook remains a massive pug killer, because people often join experienced runs without knowing the mechanics and wipe the group with numbers.

Most commanders are very friendly, almost to a fault. This is how I started my raiding journey I just started joining experienced raids and explaining commanders that I do not have experience but have confidence in both my dps and mechanics knowledge. Most commanders I've interacted with were positive and if not they were at least willing to take a chance with me.

This is already a lot better than my experiences trying to get into raiding in ESO or WoW. GW2 PvE scene gets a bad rep for absolutely no reason. I've witnessed some people getting the boot the kind of people you describe but it does help the group in the end and it gets results.

The bare minimum effort....to enjoy a video game?
People play games for different reasons. At different levels. And with different goals in mind. I don't understand the whole "minimum effort" angle. Why disparage players who are also enjoying the same game you are?

There's different content for different players. That's the whole point. The game needs to be balanced, both around the average player and around the higher end players.

Yes the bare minimum effort because when you participate in group content its no longer just about your own enjoyment, which you could understand if you had the social skills to do so.

When you get booted off of a group for eating every red zone and racing the healers you're the one  creating the problem, its not everyone else being elitist gamer words. They don't want to give you a free ride at their expense.

In my opinion GW2's PvE community are a bunch of softies constantly coming up with ways to show these players that it can be done, constantly encouraging them. While in a lot of other communities you'll just be told its a skill issue and everyone will move on. Its a mentality problem that the players you're trying to encourage just want to make excuses, they don't want to put in any real effort.

Anet should just give these people easy mode, call it story mode or something and move on. You shouldn't need to go out of your way to interact and encourage people who don't want to put in the bare minimum effort. Thats absurd to me.

I never said you pointed fingers at me, that post just didn't make sense in general, avoided everything anyone wrote in this thread and took a position of "welp, people disagree because whales, good luck OP!". It didn't make sense not "because I somehow thought you were talking about me specifically" (I don't know where you even got that from, so maybe it's time to stop repeating this false theory?), but because it's a false premise dismissing disagreement for a fully made up, baseless reason. If you thought any disagreement in this thread is somehow unfair, you should directly point it out and say why instead of making that weird blanket statement based on nothing. That's it and at no point I thought you somehow "wrote specifically about me". 🤷‍♂️

Lmao okay buddy whatever you say

This may come as a surprise to you… but the average player doesn’t actually have the support of a large guild or 13 hours a day to grind out ascended gear and legendaries… the average player is kitted out in whatever exotics they can get their hands on, and often don’t even have a full set of accessories let alone a full set of runes. Many even have a mix of random runes. Additionally being largely solo players they aren’t well versed in placement for group events and may frequently miss out on buffs because they were not actually in the deathball.

You literally get FREE ASCENDED GEAR out of WV now please for the love of god stop making these pathetic excuses for lazy players already, I'm so sick of the sob tears of people who couldn't spend 10 gold for exotics or put in 20 minutes of rotation practice.

How convenient does it have to be for you all to stop making excuses for these players? Does Anet need to automatically assign them with BiS gear upon character creation and also put an auto-rotation button that does the fighting for you?

My dude. Its a T1. Let people have fun on their sub optimal build. Around 5k Dps is what i would expect from one of my alts in sub optimal gear, without boon support. The 15-17 Million hp the boss has on T1 is just over tuned for something that is meant for new or casual player. Almost having as much HP as 10man Strikes boss.

You can't expect the game to reward you for doing literallly EVERYTHING wrong.

Well, I just bought the game a couple days ago and was thinking a lot about what character to play. I ended up enjoying leveling a warrior, so that's what I'm playing now. Charr are awesome by the way XD

Reading all your comments, I get the impression someone at Anet decided to automate class balancing using some kind of soulless metric/statistics in order to save manpower. Maybe they should switch to an AI and add the option "should be fun playing". I'll keep playing for now, since I love the class fantasy and it's combat feel the most.

Just reroll a revenant and go herald if you want a condi build. Don't listen to all the delusional people and anet simps, play a real spec instead of a gimmick one. Yes herald also got its share of nerfs no it does not matter its infinitely more playable and 10 times more popular than berserk in its entirety for a reason.

If you're gonna insist on Warrior then look into power builds. The power builds are pretty ok all things considered. You can play a spellbreaker or powerzerk and you don't even need to know rotations to do 30k+ on these specs they are just that easy to get into.

Nerfing based on benchmarks that most people don't reach is almost as bad as balancing based off of the wiki...

golem benchmarks are not representative of how PvE content actually works in this game. It has value to know the absolute best case scenario but context matters and that context has been screaming that condizerk is an unplayable mess ever since that berserk rework.

Barely anyone played the spec and even less people will play it now that the only thing it had going for it has been butchered.

Except even the PvE golem benchmarkers don't like it from all I know as the change is a noticeable dps loss.

Its also more carpal tunnel gameplay. I think they could at the very least give greatsword some QoL buffs in another area to make up for it, like maybe try self-slow instead of self-root in GS2? It shouldn't be hard to find some way to help greatsword as a base warrior weapon, its a bit of an awkward weapon and a lot of its fun came from the triple spin, without that it just feels like dual axes but a lot more bland and boring.

Strongly agree, and I think its possible that its exactly what you say and it'll be replaced by a Staff trait when it gets added to the game.

The listed effects of this trait are truly unhinged after baselining the cooldown. All this does is add 1s burn to Longbow's auto - it's literally competing with [Warrior's Sprint] which is 10% ALL strike damage plus bonus effects which completely blows the Rifle auto +10% out of the water.

In fact, now that I have it written out, I'm pretty sure increasing Condi Berserker's Power damage by 10% outdpses the burning added to Longbow auto on the bench log.

It does still have the BUGGED, non-listed effect of giving Rifle non-auto skills double adrenaline gain when traited which makes a Rifle rotation work for Power Berserker - but at a steep DPS cost so it's still not worth the tradeoff.

Honestly condizerk has way bigger problems as a playstyle but this one just personally bugs me whenever I open up the build tab. Crack Shot is just there and staring into my soul, annoying me with its very existence. Reminding me that I could play literally anything and I chose to play condi... As a warrior.

On a more serious note, they made big improvements to the overall QoL of the playstyle but haven't managed to solve the fact that it only feels like a real spec while berserk is up and a lot of the time, its not even up to you to keep berserk up. It really, REALLY sucks if you let berserk end early and there really is no need for this kind of all risk no reward mechanic with no in-betweens.

I think it would be a lot better if we had a separate rage bar that fueled berserk duration (would also give people a visual que to track berserk duration) instead of having it on a set timer that can be extended with rage skills. Have the rage skills fill the rage bar instead of adding X seconds.

This will result in practically the same bench but now your ''oh no I'm out of berserk'' rotation can use rage abilities without fearing that you're sabotaging your next berserk. And this is how you would elevate playability of berserk without buffing its bench DPS where it can sustain endless berserk anyways.

Not to mention its a visual QoL letting player track remaining duration with ease and most importantly it fits thematically. Building up the rage, doesn't get more berserk than that.

  15. All this trait does is allow condizerk to have condi on their ranged autos, which they should have by default.

This doesn't even need much work, just build those benefits into baseline warrior and those weapons by default. Then you can rework this as a utility trait for pure ranged warrior builds or a trait for future staff/support builds.

  16. I see all this as a growing pain for the playstyle. Getting rid of banners and getting quickness out of something we already do instead is a good thing and its a lot more fun and flexible for the class, just some work on numbers is needed to get it into a viable state.

Similarly the buffs to sword are nice aswell even though they do not matter in the grand scheme of things and condizerk dps mostly comes from longbow. I still appreciate good QoL changes to base warrior weapon abilities, as they need it so badly.

The elephant in the room though is that condizerk was always a spec that needed to be in combat to function, it always looked better than it actually was because it looks amazing on a parse dummy, you pumped good numbers, uptime was good etc, but it would struggle to keep up adrenaline and keep up dps as good in actual fights.

This problem will now be elevated even further as our quickness is now tied to burst usage. I think this will have to be adressed in some way.

Small note, but with their stated durations on Flaming Flurry in the patch notes it does close to twice as much condi damage than before:
    8 * 2s burning = 16s |VS| 6 * 5s burning = 30s

Flurry REALLY needed a buff in many ways, and its finally getting what it needs. I don't think people appreciate this enough.

For condizerk, sword was always the weak link and its been getting consistent buffs patch after patch, which makes me very happy.
