  1. I really am enjoying the Charr content thus far. I have a couple questions. Thanks for taking the time to read!

    1. Can we get new faces/hair/horns for Charr please? We can NEVER have too many options :o

    2. I love this new long bow skin, the problem is, longbow is a very dicey weapon in that most builds/specs currently won't use them often, they just suffer a lack of identity and viability. Can we PLEASE do something about Dragonhunter's longbow being totally unused? It feels super bad having an elite spec's weapon be so weak in pve. Please give me a reason to use these beautiful longbow skins aside from afking in Lion's Arch!

  2. My biggest concern with the Rev changes to hammer is.. hammer is rarely used outside of wvw now, doing these changes at this point will it make hammer totally obsolete? I would favor changes that actually make ALL weapons attractive to open up better build diversities over obsolescence. Is there not some way to make this a more attractive weapon for pve? As a backline hammer rev, I really enjoyed how it plays even in pve but there's no room for it in fractals or raiding at all. I would strongly prefer changes that make things not soo cookie cutter in the sense that only ONE set of weapons for pve and ONE only for pvp/wvw.

We have all these weapons available to all these professions but it seems most of them are just dead in the water.

I am sad to see the possible change to ranger longbow because already as it is, nobody wants rangers for anything unless they're healing on druid in wvw. They need to have some kind of compensation, maybe adjustments to shortbow as well. The disparity between power/condi builds is kinda huge. I understand the shift moved to power more over condi because of all the people using massive condi cleanses again, now there's shift to press that back or to make changes kinda cancel out the point in making them in the first place.

Can something be done for longbow on dragonhunter too please? It's become a laughing stock anymore. I absolutely used to adore it in pve, but it's again, like hammer for rev a laughable thing for any actual content that isn't strictly open world.

How can changes be made that will satisfy people while at the same time, curbing.. 'one shot' style play or making weapons obsolete?

  3. Man oh man, I didn't think I'd get these responses but all of them are awesome.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply to me on here. It totally gives me some hope to find people to play with.My time zone is Eastern time in NA. I tend to play various hours, usually up by noon and online until I go to sleep. I try to hit up prime time when I see people tagging up in wvw and try my best to follow the group. I die an awful lot being outside of the squad mind you, but it's still fun and I am still progressing just by following them, albeit likely slower then they might be.

I've been picking up on the tactics because they're very heavily pattern based and I am decently good with map strategy. I have all professions to 80. I been running wvw as spellbreaker and herald mostly. I am still learning the in's and outs of my professions in a pvp sense. I understand there are different builds for group play and those for roaming, I'd honestly love to find a decent build that works for both because I lack the funding and unlocks to rectify ease of gear switching this early on.

I kinda with thief was a little more sturdy, found out why they prefer to do one shot builds, they die if you sneeze at them even in marauder stuff ><; Maybe I'm just horrible with my thief, who knows lol. Felt like one aoe tick and my character exploded.

I've been also expanding a bit with testing out some various support builds as well for my guardian. Healing herald seemed like a neat idea but the problem with that is I hear they are VERY poor lately which is sad to see.

I suppose I am floundering a wee bit on what to focus on and what to really go ham and invest in, it's hard to test builds and stuff to decide if the expense of investment is worth it. All the while I been working on the armor track to aid in opening up a minstrel's choice for my guard. Such a pain! Most of my grievances comes from just wishing I had the excess gear set aside.

  4. @Khisanth.2948 said:That depends entirely on what stats from minstrel you actually care about. Plaguedoctor is probably closest but has less healing but more vitality and more offensive by replacing the toughness with condition damage. You could also mix harrier, magi, giver and cleric

You can also get exotic minstrel from the various reward track gear or get a full set of triumphant armor

That's helpful though not entirely sure. It would be a support firebrand type build for wvw is what I was thinking, but it was mostly just in general finding some good support stuff to help a group.

  5. We all know making Minstrel's is very pricey.. but is there a possible combination to mix from badge gear in wvw for example?Perhaps mixing Cleric's with Knight's?

I'm kinda at a loss and wanted to experiment with support firebrand or even scrapper but making these armors is out of the question for me currently, I lack all the supplies lol

Any info on what to combine would be really helpful and appreciated.

  6. People see this as an assault on pc games and stuff that use this.. but in reality? It's aimed primarily at all these mobile and facebook style games that machine gun lootbox/their pay to win currency in the face or you get hardcore blocked from progression.

This affects these games we play to some degree but I don't know if the black lion chests count as the same because you can SEE everything that is in it and you are guaranteed SOMETHING from the visible list.

Who knows :/ In a way? I like to see the bill pass because it IS very very predatory. The industry KNOWS it's predatory because they KNOW games appeal to people who just love them and become addicted to them for any range of reasons. If people who gamble lose their homes, people will have similar happen if they haven't already from playing games the same way.

  7. @"Balthazzarr.1349" said:As someone noted above... if you truly want to be somewhere that is "all inclusive" think about moving to SoS. I'm not even on that server anymore but the people there are superb. A number of guilds, KING, LUV, HoT... to name just three, are great for new players. Sure they like their zerg builds and love people to be built for group fighting... and at the same time they are more than happy to help you know which build to use on which character etc. I am still in KING and if you move there want need a contact then fire me an email in game balthazzarr.1349 and I'll get you connected. ;)

Thanks for the response. I've been really debating on if/where I'd like to use my transfer. I understand I get a free one since I haven't moved realms since I've been playing.

  8. Yeah, from a lot of people.. this seems to be what I'm hearing.. sounds kinda dull tbh, pvDooring -.-; F'sake lol. Been doing this, killing sentries, recapping smaller targets etc already actually. It's all I really can do atm.

Seems like all modes in this game block off any new players entirely in similar fashions for similar reasons. Sure it can be obtainable to anyone who wants to push but it's very disheartening for sure.

Edited to add: I am thankful for the replies people have given so far, but I'll still keep trying. Can't accomplish anything if you just sit and don't even try, right? :)

warclaw doesnt take too long.i dunno what 'higher rank' is for you, but having basically a rank that scream 'i am new here' can indeed keep people away. it indicates that you might not know the basics of the mode be it about supply, objective mechanics(upgrades,tactics/improv), warscore, commonly used builds and their roles in various scales of combat or commonly used siege placements for attacking/defending etc. because explaining all that to a new person can be tiresome and many then might not stick around for long. basically a higher rank means that you know what you are getting yourself into in this mode.

I'm bleeding new, but it's not that difficult to figure things out. People complain there's not more people or it seems empty, but when new people come along who want to learn, they don't want them? Kinda self defeating, though I do understand where you're coming from, it's not very fun for new people at all.

I fail to see how explaining things is tiresome, you don't have to do it all at once, just as it comes up makes more sense. You'd think people would be happy seeing some fresh blood wanting to come in and play too.

I have to finish the reward track for the warclaw, but when it comes to ranks, I'm less then 10 LOL.. doing it solo takes awhile, especially if you can't keep up to commander groups where all the good exp is at.

@"FengzhouUh.. it's pretty unplayable if all you do is struggle to follow groups and get 100-0'd by the enemy team on THEIR mounts and not a soul will help out or wait up. That makes people who don't have the expansion or mount consider quitting/leaving and finding something else.'It's the status of the game unfortunately...Both pve and wvw it's keep up' OR dont get rewarded...this mount is a poor status of the game, no hardcore wvw'r wanted except for groups who love to pick on less numbers.

I'm new to the wvw experience and so far I've found it to be just that. It's REALLY not fun on ANY level, that said, I can pretty much wait out the remainder of my collection, and HOPE to kill a guard and afk in the map until the zerg tags a keep to get that last piece...I have some mixed feelings on the collection for the warclaw, IT should be An overal experience for wvw and show how fun IT can be ...in the end it's a minor ktrain ln you, especially after month after mount release...a matter of 'find it OR loose it'

I am all for some sort of rental service happening that gives a buff to a temp mount, even if it's just a bare bones mount with no abilities other then the simply ability to KEEP UP with the group. Asking for that isn't being unrealistic. Here's why i have a bit of mixed feelings, i mean people worked for it and after 2 yrs i decided to not do the Griffin collection in pve, the pve maps need more and more that collection done to, for instance, participate propperly in the meta. But i cant keep up' with the group

Can i have the Griffin rent now?

I'm not the sort of person who gets all mad at people having rental mounts at all despite my having done the collections for them. Rental mounts tend to be gutted compared to the full mastery unlock anyway.

I don't see how it would necessarily be a terrible thing. :/

  11. I have been searching for a guild or group that's on Kaineng that would be willing to teach me more about WvW.

Trying to find one has been extremely difficult. I have played this game since it came out but only recently did I decide to give wvw a try and I've found it to be fairly fun. The only problem is, I found that without the warclaw and higher ranks, nobody wants you. It sucks, I don't WANT to sit there afk flipping forever, I want to actually have people to run around with.

I'll basically learn to play whatever is needed, I have every profession leveled. I have a bit of ascended gear. If it's something I don't have gear for, if people are willing to help, I'll play what's needed as I am super open to learning the other half of each profession.

Please feel free to toss me a message ingame or on here.

    Thanks!

  12. @Etterwyn.5263 said:You can sit on an outnumbered camp and flip it every 10 minutes and finish your reward track hella faster than you ever will in EOTM. The only challenge is not dying of boredom.

I found this out the hard way... by getting all my pieces except the reward track. I'm just a bit past half, but had to take a break to freshen up and shower.. debating if I shall sleep or go mess around a bit more on it tonight. Then I have to work at ranking up.

  13. @sephiroth.4217 said:As a paying member of this game that owns both expansions, I am fine with a rented version.

It would make as a good selling point for one but it also gives WvW something unique. You can go to PvP to try fully maxed out characters, so I see no issue in making WvW a place to go if you want to try the basic mount. It might actually increase sales and population.

    I agree.

NOT having a rental service, will just make people stop playing who didn't get in on the mount when it first came out and people where rushing to get the collection done.

It's quite an unfun experience to get left behind/constantly creamed by enemies :<

I cannot keep up to my group without a mount. This game is now unplayable for me. This is a very disappointing feature that has been added. Please make it so that people without expansions can use or "rent" a mount only in WvW. It is a game killer.

It's not unplayable for you. It's inconvenient for you. There is a HUGE difference. I don't get a tremendous benefit from expansions either, but I like to pay my way, and I'm not willing to be without some possible advantages.

Uh.. it's pretty unplayable if all you do is struggle to follow groups and get 100-0'd by the enemy team on THEIR mounts and not a soul will help out or wait up. That makes people who don't have the expansion or mount consider quitting/leaving and finding something else.

  15. I noticed since my last mini vacation from the game for a few months, recently returning because of the skyscale+stuff to do, that the TP has been EXTREMELY sluggish/slow from what I remember it being. I'm not entirely sure why it's so sluggish, wish I knew? Might have to do with authenticating items/currency transactions or something to make sure items aren't duped? Who knows.

  16. @LucianDK.8615 said:Housing is not going to happen when we have the guild hall system full of decorations and shizz. Besides, its a rather tame cosmetic feature that will not be able to drive an expansion, and meaningless for player progression unlike gliders or mounts.

Guild halls aren't personal housing. They're for large group function. There is nothing wrong with wanting to expand to personal housing. The home instance already serves a bit like that, but I'd love to see a more personal touch added to it. Something a player can pick away at and add to over time. The tech is already there, including inviting other people into your instance with you.

I think adding a personal housing feature as a main source of content doesn't warrant an expansion, but it could come packed in with one and expanded on over time, or it could simply be part of a content patch and grow over time. I don't think it's a bad idea and housing is a feature tons of people enjoy.

  17. @LucianDK.8615 said:The world is simply not designed with unrestricted flight in mind. Remember how they had to redo the old world in wow to be able to have flight there.

This is a silly reason because the griffon is quite capable of going above and beyond. We have invisi walls for a reason, I don't think it would hurt that at all having it unrestricted so long as it sticks to the same boundaries the griffon must stick to.

I feel this mount REALLY needs something more then what it has. It's very slow. It's hard to maneuver very well. Outside of it's amazing appearance, it doesn't really give me that super epic /legendary feeling that the insane collection made it appear like. I don't understand how Anet seems to feel that this mount is uber powerful, because it simply isn't. Sticking to a wall is one thing, but as the OP mentioned, it can't even climb over the lip and you're often crap outta luck and must descend.. or hope you have enough mastery points so you can regain adrenaline, problem is, I don't think that helps with it going HIGHER once you've run out. I thought the blue bar stops entirely once you stick to a wall and you can't wait it out?

I'm kinda bummed, I'm at the part where I gotta finish collecting map currencies, but I just see no massive rush at this point knowing that it doesn't REALLY get much better then a glorified 'look at me' mount to afk on in LA.

Sure it can fly straight up, but the springer+griffon combo is unbeatable by this mount by a large margin. The ONLY thing this mount can do is allow you to pause on the Z axis to actually look around provided you're far enough away the mobs on the ground aren't lobbing projectiles at you.

I made sure to triple check that and they definitely got bigger. Good looking out though because that was my first thought as well since I threw permafrost on them right away.

They're really not that different imo. I kinda like that they're chunkier. Too many skin tight things in this game as it is. Again, personal preference and all that lol.
