Two things killed the roaming scene.

    1-Thief.

    2-Stealth.

Thief has been the undisputed king of roaming for 9 years and is not going to change for the forseeable future. Which ties in well with my next point, stealth. Stealth and the spammable nature it has with the Thief profession is absurdly broken and with a clear lack of effective, rewarding and enjoyable counterplay. It's a mess of a combo that frustrates players that want to try all other professions, and when they do, they end up fighting Thieves that have constant blind spam, endless disengage, endless sustain through stealth, constant detarget through stealth, constant invisibility with incredible and mostly unpredictable burst damage, no other class can compete with this in roaming unless you have something niche or broken your self: SIck 'Em+Wolf Stance one shot combo, or Holo/Scrapper granade spam; those broken or niche cases get nerfed eventually so Thief is always left alone as the king, so as to nerf Thief you'd have to redesign how stealth works with them or the entire profession, which is not going to happen, ever.

In time, those other players eventually quit or start playing Thief themselves. Then you have this mess of Thieves vs Thieves fighting eachother endlessly either unable to kill themselves or disengaging at will which frustrates all parts involved, so they end up quitting too. That's it.

Be careful with the truth.  Don't want the Thieves sub-forum to see this or they will brigade you with their confused emoji.

You have set the terms of the debate (“Stealth requires no skill to use”) and offered only your qualifications as proof. Not sure how you expect anyone to debate you when you decide what is and is not true ab initio.

Because it isn't a debate and this matter has been settled a long time by actual professionals gamers.  As mentioned, during the alpha, beta and soft launch of this game they all agreed this type of stealth is not healthy for the game, or any MMO for that matter.   Stealth in this game has a low skill floor.  The qualifications have been offered you just chose to ignore the one offered;  the first reason stealth provides a cushion and low skill floor is because it automatically breaks target.  That alone is a top tier effect for a tab targeting game.  Compound that with the easy of access and you can see, just considering that one effect alone, makes it unbalanced.  It wasn't until recently that Anet included this effect in game on different skills.  Unsurprisingly the class that now has the ability to break targeting and has access to stealth is currently considered the single strongest dueling build in the game.
This is simply a pointless conversation because stealth will not be changed to make the Thief class better.  Your class will remained kitten to appease a mind set.  This is the exact reason sPvP died and Thief was regulated to a +1 role since the game's launch.

Funny is he has to mentioned all time that he is a GW 1 Veteran. Im a GW 1 Vet too i played GW 1 when it came out (Prophecies). What does this have to do with thief now in Gw 2? Different games.

When Steatlh is so broken and Teef OP so why is it one of the least played classes in the game? I see alot of Guardians and Broken Necros.

Actually read my post before replying because it is obvious you didn't understand it.  I have also never wrote Thief is OP and instead wrote Thief is a joke.  You will always see flavor of the month builds if you every step foot in any type of PvP in any game.  Ironic that you mention Guardian while the heaviest complaint for that class currently in WvW comes about because of a build abusing stealth runes for roaming.  This is a fact I am sure the Thief community will miss.

Then play a thief and say again that this class needs no skill.

I have every class and have sense launch.  I played top tier tpvp with my original team from Guild Wars 1 and have been ranked in both.  I quit Guild Wars 2 pvp, as well as my team and a slue of others, when it was evident that it would not host the same torments it did for Guild Wars 1.

You can complain all you like but what I wrote is true.  Stealth requires no skill to use.  Breaking target is already a top tier effect aside form anything else you do in stealth.  This is just as true for any class that has access to stealth.

The question you should be asking is what is the skill floor for Thief and how does it contribute to new players picking up the class.  This is, of course, an opinion and everyone's will be different.

But the majority of players do not understand that concept and want to fight/have an encounter and only have fun if they win it, and do not have fun if they don't win (which doesnt automaticly imply losing). And any scenario where they don't win feels like having lost to them, even if you just got out with like 10hp left as a thief and die instantly in the next encounter

The majority do understand.  Defenders of stealth in this game choose to ignore how broken it is because it attracts the mentality of pocket sand fighters.  People who have no qualms abusing busted mechanics.  But this is exactly why Thief is a joke.  Instantly gibbing people form stealth had to go which took your damage.  Now all you have is stealth, mobility and evades which makes you the most annoying class.

The fact is that stealth is far to forgiving with no drawbacks and it is extremely boring to play against.  It takes no skill to utilize stealth which is another sore point for a lot of people.  The majority of the other classes can't breaking targeting every 8-10 seconds and just disappear.  It is easy to see why it is considered cheap.  Even the professional gamers back at launch and during alpha tried to get Anet to change it because it is just bad design.

True stealth is only fun for one party; the one using it.

I'd rather see and pay for a remake version of GW1.. Not mobile, yuck.

Going mobile is basically selling out to the lowest bidder for quick cash.  It is the final resting place of once great games.

I love Guild Wars 1 but I honestly believe if they attempted a remake with this team they would butcher it.

Considering that the original Guild Wars game is still around, it's highly unlikely that Anet/NCsoft decide to pull the plug anytime soon.

Yeah but Guild Wars 1 is timeless and everything can be completed with henchmen. In Guild Wars 2 anything worth doing is not achievable by yourself.  Some world events would be impossible without at least 10 other people.  I would be extremely surprised if Guild Wars 2 outlives Guild Wars 1.

C; I like to do it in my own time; I have a family, I can't go on voice chat and isolate myself from my kids and wife, I can't be occupied for an hour straigt without the freedom to go afk for 10 min to help my kids with something or whatever, or simply break it off entirely if I have to.

    I agree with this statement.

I still don't have legendary armor because I no longer have the time, can't stand the smug attitudes of most of the guilds doing the raids and I refuse to use voice chat as it is not needed.  Plenty of PUGs (myself included) do Fractals 100 CM with out voice chat or even typing.  I would happily solo a single player instance version to eventually get the armor in my own time.  In fact I already have the materials to make the armor I am just missing the raid specific pre-armor.

Most "raiders" only go against such a thing because it "takes away form their achievements".  Which is nonsense.

Wow, im starting to believe, you actually dont get it....

I am surprised you lasted that long.  It is best to ignore trolls.

However, I believe the purpose of the new spec was suppose to be burst damage.  However, it fails at that because of the extremely long generation time for flow and then the conversion of flow to charges.  I would wager the best thing to do would be to scrap the charges all together and just use flow, lower cap on flow to 30,  lower the coefficient on Dragon Slash and drop the insane 5 second charge to 1.5 or 2.

I think it's time to come to grips with reality for us Warrior mains. We are not meant to have S-tier specs. We aren't going to rule PVP or WvW. Warrior is a B rated class and that's how its going to be.

I am not sure if you played at launch or not but that is basically the treatment they have given Warriors throughout the history of the game.

To state the obvious, kneejerk reactions are what caused the discipline trait line bonus to go from 30% damage to 3% damage within the first 2 months of the game for over a year.  It is also the reason Warrior still has 2 traits with recharge times of 300s.  Low level hot join pvp should never influence the balance of a class.  Unfortunately that has controlled the Warrior balance since launch.

It is funny to know they are still saying the same thing

The devs said it themselves, they like where warrior is at the moment

The most obvious telegraphs, long animations, long after casts, straight forward and simple skills with a singular effect and middle of the road damage.  Long live the king of mediocrity.

I find it completely ridiculous that blocked attacks don't reveal the attacker. You can  just spam into a blocking ability and have no penalty. I think if a player is block they should still be reveled.

If they didn't fix this at the initial launch of the game when actual professional gamers were telling them to fix stealth then they are not going to fix it now.  They lost esports over stealth, horrible balance and particle effects at launch.  It is no surprise to what the state of the game is now especially considering they lost the original balance team from Guild Wars 1 roughly around the same time the mass exodus happened (3 months after launch).

I find it completely ridiculous that a player can be in my face or walk directly in front of me without me seeing him.  Even in hyper fantasy settings there are silhouettes or shimmers at the least and auto reveal if you walk into the field of vision (200 degrees field of view) in most.  It is a horribly implemented machinic in this game.

So that answer is yes, no real gain of stab outside of using movement skills with the strength trait, and only one stack of stab on the flow gainer, so you will be cc'd out of it all the time.

And lose all charges, and all flow.

You lose charges but maintain any leftover flow you have after getting interrupted.  Either by stun, daze, etc or simply walking.  Also, you can be interrupted mid strike as well.

Spellbreaker being equally labeled as A and B tier makes sense to me now. Most players can only bring out B tier skill with Spellbreaker. Skilled players who try hard can bring out A tier level skill from the spec.

The only thing I'm confused about is why people voted S tier for Spellbreaker. I haven't seen anyone able to bring out S tier skill out of Spellbreaker not even the best pvp warrior mains.

Only Deadeyes that get Magebaned put Spellbreaker in S.

The more you post, the more I believe you are clueless.

Virtuoso has no "niche". Blades are vastly inferior to clones and shatters. They have a cast animation, they are projectiles and they are single target instead of aoe.

Virtuoso traits have no synergy with core mesmer traits.

Remember when Kal said "we went back and reworked every adrenaline trait to with flow"? They did not do that for Virtuoso.

    Dagger is a horrendous weapon.

Virtuoso can only do power, its condi traits are absolutely useless.

Virtuoso is 100% projectile class and has no place in WvW.

The gunsabre is an actual weapon with 5 skills. It has mobility, its fast, and it cleaves. The slow mechanic where you have to stand still is your F2. Gunsabre is an independent weapon that has 5 skills that do not require you to stand still.

    * No Weapon Swap

    You have a good weapon.

    * No Normal Burst

Yes this is a bit of a problem, but it's better than being too vanilla.

    * All cool new stuff is gated behind staying in place for 5s.

Not really, you can use your skills on 1 charge for mobility or interrupt or you can blink in Z axis etc.

    * Whats the point of Ammo synergy when we dont have Kill Shot and Rifle is still a terrible weapon?

Shouts and pistol 5, but rifle needs buffs yes.

Look well Warriors.  Posts like these are the exact reason Warrior was stuck with a trait that had a 300 second cool down for years.  The reason they were nerfed down to C-tier status and the reason I quit the game shortly before HOT.  Anet has held no love for Warrior.  They have been the middle of the road class since launch.  They are not top dps by any means in PvE (at one time before the berserker nerf they were top 3 but that was quickly corrected) and they are not the best duelist in PvP (nor have they ever been).

Warrior has been a joke since launch.  They will argue Warrior was the most op class ever to exist in any game and yet defend specs like Condition Mirage.  Others in the thread are correct, the first time they are Dragon Slashed for 102k they will howl OP not understanding it takes 5 seconds of no interruptions standing still in the same spot and them staying within 900 range to achieve said one hit.  Outside of the one hit you have standard weapons skills (with no additional utility like other classes) and subpar utilities in comparison to other classes.  The reason?  You have 5k more health which which means nothing without the utility granted by boons/evade frames/invulnerability.

Just look at the second quote.  Suggesting you go into the Dragon Slash stance to use the port on z axis, just LOL. To state the obvious skill 4 and 5 are to delay/time out players to 5 seconds to build the charges needed to one shot. It would take 2 charges of the teleport and at least one of the aegis just to get out of the Renegades Daze aoe.  It is clear Warrior will be the middle of the road one trick pony at expansion launch.  Which will be nerfed in the first pass within 1 to 2 months to Berserker status; eg slightly better than core.

Just to let it be known, you can still be interrupted or stopped mid dragon slash.  It is a fitting Elite spec, a joke, for the class that has always been.

Fortnite doesn't have a concurrent player count of 40 million either. His numbers are just plain wrong and getting pulled out of the air.

The stats on the playerbase for Fortnite that was last given out was 10.7 million back in February 2019. They had 250 million registered accounts by March 2019.

    Source: https://www.pcgamesn.com/fortnite/fortnite-battle-royale-player-numbers

Also, in the original post the OP references Fortnite first then Guild Wars 2. This would lead people to view the discussion with Fortnite vs Guild Wars 2. Even the title mentions Fortnite first. The original comment I quoted was just all kinds of wrong in both order and numbers.

  15. @"mindcircus.1506" said:read for comprehension.

Great time to take ones own advice, yes?

Saying Guild Wars 2 has 40 million active players (aka the player base).... Yeah you are way off.

Guild Wars 2 management only claimed 11 million accounts created just 2 year ago. You honestly think that the game gained 30 million accounts since PoF release in 2 short years when it took 5 and a half years to get 11 million? Don't be absurd.

First off, when you kill Balthazar he is far from chained. Just compare the two stories and their settings when you defeat them...

Abbadon being struck down by the other 5 gods and sapped of the majority of his power, was chained and bound in a single place and had his body destroyed. A city was constructed over the place where he was struck down to watch over Abbadon to ensure he was never released. The player character barely finishes off his head and hands with the aid of 7 other legendary heroes (Kormir doesn't count because she is useless and always will be) WHILE he is chained in the Realm of Torment.

In comparison too: Balthazar, a fallen god beaten by the 5 gods and chained in the mists. Who is then freed from his chains and begins to accumulate power over the course of a couple Tyrian years. Balthazar then proceeds to get rotflstomped by a baby dragon and the commander with a magical sword, Sohothin. Sohothin was reignited by Balthazar in his weakened state. It bares to mention the story portrays Balthazar as using hardly any power to ignite the sword; A simple flick of his wrist.

Do you not see the extreme difference? One is good writing and leads one into immersion, the other is just awful writing.

The remains of Abbadon, a floating head with hands, bound and chained, losing power over millenniums barely killed by 8 legendary heroes.

Balthazar freed from the mists, gaining power no mortal could ever hope to withstand, killed by the commander with Sohothin and a baby dragon.....

  17. @Nasuradin.8495 said:We also killed Abbadon in GW1

No. You killed a vastly weakened, chained and nearly dead god. The 5 left him on deaths door bound and chained. He was literally a living head and hands bound to a single area in a dark dimension. By the lore of Guild Wars 1 the player character and his party were extremely lucky to have won even with Abbadon in that state.

The fact the player character, with a single baby dragon, in Guild Wars 2 stood toe to toe with a god unchained and gaining power is a joke at best.

  18. @"wrathmagik.3518" said:Yah this game is is so dead that the over the 50 Labrynth groups in the LFG i can't get into any of them because all the maps are full.

Well considering the map has a cap of 25 people (source: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mad_King%27s_Labyrinth) you are barely looking at 1,250 people with your statement. Even for a "free to play" mmo that is extremely low during prime hours and low for off hours. It is currently at ~36 (both festival tab and open world squad groups) which is during what people consider prime time (~0-4 hours after reset). That is honestly laughable low.

Back around the second Halloween (2013) there were literal hundreds of these zones open on the newly released "LFG" tool. Mind you, this is AFTER the massive drop in the player population from the Ascended debacle they pulled.

To the topic, they should not make a Guild Wars 3 because they killed the franchise with awful recants of lore and just overall bad management in Guild Wars 2.
