  1. Well, too bad that they call SotO an "expansion" in their announcement then. Either give the buyer the "expansion" features that are advertised inside the game-client or refund the sale. At the moment they don't want to do neither of those, but in the first reply to my ticket that GM tried to upsell a PoF license. Since you didn't pay for my SotO-only license, I don't see any reason that I have to play GW2 the way you think I have to do.
  2. If you mouse-over the greyed-out Revenant class icon in the character creator of any F2P or core GW2 account, you are presented with the following text: Which I did. Interestingly the character creator is available now, but the last step can't be completed. Instead it throws a cryptic error code which both GMs involved in my ticket couldn't obviously make any sense of, since they actually contradicted each other in their answers and gave answers that were non-sensical when compared to information on the support pages. So far the result was that above posted reply by one of them GM: no Revenants for SotO-only accounts. This suggests at least four possibilities why that happened: AreneNet/NC Soft tries to run an upsell scam. The CS team has no information about the new expansion and basically just tries to figure stuff out by reading the wiki, or is making stuff up to get rid of the open ticket. The current version of the game-client is buggy or incomplete. The expansion features like the Revenant class don't unlock during the pre-order period, but nobody thought to tell the player about it. None of those options look good for ArenaNet and lead to a poor first experience for genuinely new players. According to their news post (https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/announcing-guild-wars-2-secrets-of-the-obscure/) it is an "expansion", not a "living world update" nor a "mini-expansion". Therefore, it's quite reasonable to expect that it includes the features that require an "expansion" to work like the Revenant class or the permanent basic Raptor. However, if you worry so much about my GW2 experience on my 28th account, feel free to gift me any other expansion or living world season you think I need to have.
  3. It's also quite baffling that the GM linked a wiki-entry instead of an official support-page, since the wiki always has the disclaimer that it is only community-based. If you follow that link and its referenced sources, there isn't really an official statement or disclaimer about the absence of Revenants in the referenced original blog-post either. It seems ArenaNet has gone full scummy now to upsell their old stuff.
  4. No worries I have to admit that I'm a bit confrontational since pre-ordering SotO. It's been fine for my ANet-accounts, but Steam was/is a mess for me and the CS team being clueless doesn't help either.
  5. Clearing up potential confusion: It still doesn't change the fact that buying SotO Standard Edition SKU (24.99 €) plus the gem store upgrade to the Deluxe Edition (2400 gems = 30 €) is 5 Euro more expensive than buying the SotO Deluxe Edition SKU (49.99 €). It' the same pricing for ANet's own shop and the official retailers like Amazon. It's somewhat understandable that folks are a bit annoyed by the fact that Steam doesn't offer the SotO Deluxe Edition SKU. The difference in processing costs & store fees might be a factor, but unless you have an ANet source for that, your guess is as good as mine when it comes to the reasons why Steam doesn't carry a SotO Deluxe SKU. Keep in mind that Amazon doesn't sell software keys for free for ANet either. IIRC, retailers typically take a 10% - 15% fee for software keys, although Amazon might offer better conditions for larger businesses like ANet/NC Soft.
  6. Can you point us to a gold making method that does 100+ gold per hour that is also scalable? Keep in mind that at the moment the login-farmers get in average between 1.5g and 1.7g worth of mats (after TP fees!) per login which takes between 20 to 45 seconds, depending on your setup, internet connection and ALT-tabbing skills. Keep also in mind that all you need is a level 2 character which takes about 5 minutes per account to create. Why would it drop sales? Since it seems that the new system requires a level 80 character to interact with for the new daily, weekly and quarterly reward system, people might actually start buying SotO-only alt-accounts for gold making. Similar to what people did at the beginning of EoD once they noticed how much gold could be made with the weekly legendary mats and the multiple daily NKC JP chests. It was fewer gold per hour than just login-farming, but it was still more than running around in the Silverwastes or most farming trains that basically require a Skyscale to be more profitable than RIBA. At the beginning an EoD-only account bought at full price had a breakeven time compared to 2400 gems of around 11 weeks! Also not everyone who buys expansion alt-accounts uses them just for login-farming. Especially the HoT/PoF accounts at half price are very popular for AFK-farming and EoD-only still makes a decent amount from gen3 legendary mats although the breakeven time nowadays is probably around 5 months. That is a non-sensical argument, since any genuinely new player would also benefit from the higher sales prices of the mats they acquire during leveling, playing through the story, etc. Even with a level 80 boost most new players will learn the ropes of the game, unlock and explore zones, get a feeling for the community, etc. before starting to craft ascended and legendary gear to hop into the endgame. That type of new player that spends large sums just to skip most non-endgame content at day one is most likely rather rare and those whales usually don't really care about spending additional money on gems for the required gold anyway. Furthermore once demand for certain in-game items increases and TP prices (sharply) rise, you will see a lot of long time players switch their farming and gold-making habits and the 'invisible hand' of the market developers will ensure that there is a new equilibrium after a few days or weeks as it always happened before when there were changes to the GW2 economy.
  7. The Ultimate Edition with the discounted gems has always been ArenaNet exclusive, even outside of Steam. None of the official GW2 retailers carry it. The upgrade to the Deluxe Edition will cost you an additional 5€ since it's 2400 gems (30€) compared to the Deluxe Edition SKU.
  8. I think the problem with the nVidia GeForce Now promo was that it only required a working email-address and nVidia didn't have any restrictions in place that limited the number of new nVidia-account creations. Since nVidia has deep enough pockets to restock keys as needed and the GFN promo wasn't limited by the number of keys available but by the timeframe they announced beforehand, people basically could acquire as many keys as they wanted. Personally I had no issues requesting keys minutes before the promo ended. I've seen people on reddit and discord bragging about grabbing hundreds of keys and complaining that they actually had trouble creating enough corresponding GW2-accounts since ANet heavily restricts that by ip-ranges and mail-domains. It seems they loosen their restrictions nowadays during sales, but in the past the forums were full of people complaining that they can't create new GW2-accounts with their Gmail addresses, etc. I can't speak for the NA-server, but on the EU-server you still can find clusters of characters in the dozens that seem to be controlled by one person logging into the game simultaneously. The two craziest people I noticed are usually running around in Rata Sum with all their characters numbered in Roman numerals counting into the 500s. No idea if it's just a joke of them or if they really have that many accounts, but anyone who has a full guild of alt-accounts can pretty much short-circuit anything that requires gold within hours instead of weeks of farming.
  9. The term you are looking for is a "scam". The funny thing about SotO-only and EoD-only accounts is that you can't even access the mount and glider section in the hero panel. You also can't buy any mount skins. However, if you acquire a skin unlock item (mount or glider) like the ones from the deluxe editions or from a Black Lion chest, you can apply that skin once to only one of your characters. If you just unlock a skin via a wardrobe unlock, you won't be able to apply the skin although it's unlocked for your account. As I said above, this isn't just shady or scummy, it's basically a scam.
  10. I just got the confirmation by customer support that folks who only buy Guild Wars 2: Secrets of the Obscure will not receive a permanent Raptor mount at level 10, unlike the accounts who only have Hearts of Thorns: Looks like Guild Wars 2: Secrets of the Obscure doesn't count as full expansion when it comes to the features of the New Player Experience.
  11. I pre-purchased one license to upgrade my F2P Steam-account to a full account. However I already regret it, since SotO-only accounts don't come with a permanent Raptor mount or the Revenant class. Might be an oversight or intentional to upsell more old expansions, but in any case it shows their contempt for their own customers. It also has the same bug that EoD-only accounts had with Mastery Insights in core Tyria not rewarding mastery points. That one took ANet about 6 months to fix. Considering that they want to sell annual expansions nowadays, this would mean one has basically wait till the end of the expansion to actually be able to use all its advertised features unless one buys the old ones as well.
