Mastery points/getting canyon leap

I'm stuck on the personal story. Trying to find the crystals for vlast or w.e. and one of them requires canyon jump - which is what lead to be getting lost as to where to go next lol -
I'm seemingly stuck on being able to get canyon leap on my character. All of the masteries I keep finding either require canyon leap or even a springer mount to get to. What is the most efficient way of getting mastery points so that I can get canyon leap/spring mount? I keep reading to do achievements and stuff but even a lot of those are pretty intense lol what the heck am I missing?

Using steam. -
Attempting to use a controller (PlayStation) to play the game. I've got everything set up, all input work EXCEPT the right joystick. My screen will not pan in any direction I motion the joystick. Yes it is set to joystick mouse, I've also tried just regular joystick as a setting no luck. Is there another in game setting im missing?
