  1. So as I understand it, people who followed that post are out of luck? Refunding is impossible according to support, and we won't get the features that were announced? An apology is a good first step, but the explanation doesn't really mend confidence, at least for me personally. Since it seems that players who are upset about this have no additional actions they can take, at the very least will there be an update to internal reviews/announcement procedures so things like this don't happen in the future? It seems a bit crazy that a review can happen after the announcement was made with no flags being raised to communicate these changes to the players.
  2. If you look at my original post (quoted below), I did actually craft a 7th rune that I will never use (because I dislike underwater content) based on the original announcement. I am just of the opinion that was a net good change for the playerbase and even though it was detrimental to me, it's a pill I can swallow because lots of people benefited from it. I was a bit annoyed at the time, but at this point, there's no way they will be changing it, so I've moved on. As for being able to swap the core relics, I already had all of the relics for the builds I will be playing on the account. Even disregarding the chest, they would've cost me maybe 100g in total for the ones I use. As the relic is currently implemented, it has almost zero benefit to me on that account. I don't want a rollback for everyone, I was just replying to the people who said "well I bet you'd be really mad if they took away your FREE legendary relic". Giving players the option is only beneficial, though. And that's really what I don't understand about this. Giving the people access to the SotO relics as part of the legendary is only a pure benefit to the playerbase as a whole, there is no downside, and yet, some people here are very upset about that notion, even though it is how the original announcement was written.
  3. This, to me, would have been fine. As I stated, I asked support to remove the rune and relic from my account and refund it, but unfortunately they can't. As it stands right now, the relic and rune do essentially nothing for me. I use that account to play with friends on another server. I get my weekly CM clears and move back to my main account. I have enough base relics that my characters have functional builds, so being able to swap those freely has absolutely zero value for me. I wanted the relic for the specific reason of unlocking more and better optimized build options for the account (options I had under the previous rune system). I know it's a difficult thing to understand that not everyone interacts with the game the same way, but what I am asking for has no down side to anyone who is happy with the relic roll out and only benefits people who felt they were mislead by ANet's announcement.
  4. Hi all, Following the announcement that everyone who crafted just single legendary rune would get a free legendary relic, I was very excited, as I could reasonably afford to get one on my alt account. One of the main draws for me would be being able to access the new relic effects that released with SotO, even though the account does not have SotO purchased. So I bit the bullet and paid the inflated prices for materials in order to craft a rune just in time for the patch. I logged in to play raids on my alt account and lo and behold, the legendary relic does not have access to SotO relic affects. This was a bit disheartening, but I thought perhaps I may have missed something in the January announcement or read it wrong. I went back and read the announcement (https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/legendary-relics-are-coming-soon) but the announcement confirms my initial understanding in two separate sentences: "So, for relics only—and starting with the fifth expansion—new relic effects will need to be unlocked within each expansion in order to be accessible via legendary relics." "Legendary relics will come with all Guild Wars 2: Secrets of the Obscure relic effects unlocked, will still be freely swappable between existing relic effects, and will still be able to be equipped simultaneously on multiple characters." The second quote is consistent to how legendary gear worked up until relics. The stats or rune effects would still be unlocked even if you didn't own the expansion. Nowhere does it say in the announcement that there is a caveat that you must own SotO to unlock those relic effects. Between this and crafting a 7th rune at the advice of the first announcement regarding legendary relics in July 2023, I am out around 1000g for items that are of almost no use to me. At the very least, let this be a PSA for you to not expect to get SotO relic effects on the legendary without owning the expansion. It would be very nice if an ArenaNet employee sees this and can confirm if this is intentional, or a bug as well, since I still really do want those relic effects on my alt account, but can't justify spending money on a second copy of SotO currently. Cheers!
